Speed Racer was my first introduction to the world of Japanese Anime and while this series doesn't scream anime, it's considered one of the best classic anime shows among fans. ----------------------------------------------------- I grew up watching this series back in the early seventies and while the series may seem cheesy and not up to par with today's anime or cartoon shows you don't see a lot of the violence that many of todays shows convey. ----------------------------------------------------- For those of you who passed on this series when Lionsgate was releasing them one disk at a time or for those of you who are debating picking up this set ... I highly recommend this DVD set to anyone who still enjoys family entertainment. ----------------------------------------------------- For parents? This series is safer for your children to watch than Dragonball Z or Power Rangers and teaches children the meaning of responsibility, morals and ethics.
