Kids were excited to see egg hatching and talks in the beginning, but it fades out quickly. Kids got bored and lost interest after hatching.

We had been looking for this toy since before Christmas and never found one that didn't cost an arm and leg. I happen to come across this on Best Buy's website and was really impressed with the ease of the purchase and the speed of shipping! My daughter was really excited to receive this as a birthday present!!!

The first Hatchimal fit the criteria for R62.51 - failure to thrive; it didn't hatch. Once successful extraction from the egg of solitude was completed, its wheels didn't spin and its wings didn't move. By day two the anhedonia had become so severe that it failed to make noise without percussive intervention on the posterior (a solid whack); fresh batteries and therapeutic doses of SSRI medication failed to help. Based upon similar events that were recounted in the media, I'd venture that this generation may suffer from a specific genetic trait that led to this condition; hopefully successful breeding will lead to heartier stock in v2.0. To its credit, Spin Master was quick to replace it - and the shipping for the replacement probably cost more than the item itself as it was sent next day air. Personally, I'd recommend you consider other options, but my wife would probably disagree.

I have to it incredible how hot these were for Christmas. Lots of people were buying these up and trying to take advantage of people. Thx Best Buy for making them available to order! Now to the review...I was a bit skeptical but it is pretty neat. My boys really like it. It reminds me of gizmo. You know, the grimlin.

I bought it to a girl and I read a lot, it is very good the output of the egg and how it intercepts, although in the long run it is half repetitive, but it is ok.

Loads of fun with this toy, so says my 4 year old. The hatching part my daughter just squealed over. Quite pricey to be honest though.

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter. She loved the idea about nurturing an egg and having it hatch, for about 15 minutes. She got a little impatient and I had to step in and follow the appropriate steps to speed the process. Once it started hatching her face lit up, smiles all around, but when it took a while for it to actually break free she started breaking pieces of the egg herself. In the end she still likes playing with her little penguin. Good for all ages, best for older kids with more paitience.

My 9 year old got this for her birthday. She started hatching it at a restaurant and everyone at the table was enthralled with it and the waitress kept coming by to see the progress. Then I was happy to see that once it hatches, it is still interactive. I was afraid it was a hatch and done but it goes through many stages and then once it is "grown" you can teach it to play games. Pretty cool and worth the money!

I think this was the most excited I have seen a child. It’s fun and interactive and it teaches the children some responsibility

I bought this for my granddaughter for her 6th Birthday and it was a hit. She absolutely loved it. It took approx 15 minutes of interacting with the egg before it began the hatching process. The hatching process took about 30 minutes. She became a little impatient, but was delighted when the hatchimal came out of the egg. Glad i bought it!

These are definitely the latest iterations of fury or tickle me Elmo. I'm not saying they are the exact same, but similar premise. The hatching process is kind of cool, of course once it has hatched it is kind of an anticlimactic toy. However I have no complaints, and my daughter loves it. What more can I ask for ?

According to my 4 yr old, this is money well spent... the price is some new toys is unreal and beyond me, but whatever makes her happy...

Like many other user have experienced, this hatchimal didn't work out of the box. We tried contacting customer service but they were closed on the weekends. I finally got it to come to life (hours later) by watching videos on how to fix them. A safety button didn't depress when the key was taken out. After it came to life my five year old loved it.

I sent it as a gift to my daughter she loved it!!! She is with her dad in another state although the only issue I had was with the gift note I wanted attached but wasn't that has nothing to do with the product. Loved how it hatched.
