The cultural significance of Japanese animation has many, many historical gems within its filmography, however, Spirited Away has to be one of the finest of them all. Hayao Miyazaki has been one of animation’s most vital directors since the late-‘70s and an example of his greatness rests in the heart, mind and spirit of this classic. The coming-of-age themes surrounding its protagonist’s character development, the dazzling animation, the imaginative designs of the spirits and landscapes, it’s a Holy sight nobody, child or elder or in between, should miss. It’s an inspiration from the first minute to its very last. And for once, I’d recommend it in English dubs or subs, as Walt Disney made an excellent attempt to match it with its Japanese counterpart almost entirely and the English voice actors are just as memorable as the original actors.

Incredible steel book. The quality of it is amazing

Spirited Away is probably the title people will tell you to watch when they recommend "Studio Ghibli". Studio Ghibli is an iconic animation studio that releases incredible movies. Directed by the Legendary Miyazaki, the movie centers around a 10 year old girl who is traveling with her parents to a new home. After the family is sidetracked, things go awry and not everything is what it seems! The village is transformed into a fantastical world where she needs to earn her keep and find a way back home. It's a beautiful movie for both children and adults to enjoy. It will give you a whole new perspective of what animation is capable of conveying if you are new to the medium.

I have been a have been a huge fan of Studio Ghibli since the first time I discovered their animated movies. This happens to be the first of many that started my love for this genre. I enjoy reading the subtitles while listening to the English translations. The most important part about the art is that it goes beyond the simplicity of its character design. When you watch this movie, look past the characters and embrace the scenery that was created by the artists. The depth of colors that go into making a scene is amazing. I always enjoy the stars they get to do the voice-overs.

A beautiful film with gorgeous animation. Filled with lots of color and details in the backgrounds that look amazing in this Blu-ray version. This isn't computer generated animation either, A nice story with lots of different characters. A few bits that might be a little scary to very young children but not that intense or for long. Lots of cute little bits are included. The inside of the steelbook has an image imprinted on it. The booklet contains the same image so you can see what it looks like in color.

Great release - would be made better by the inclusion of a digital copy, but otherwise, this series of Steelbooks is the most beautiful incarnation yet! Will be purchasing all these Steelbook Ghibli titles.

Beautiful and scary in all the ways familiar to those who grew up with 80s fantasy films like The Dark Crystal and The Secret of NIMH, and an enthralling Alice in Wonderland coming-of-age story with a unique anime twist one could only credit to Hayao Miyazaki.
