    Incredible Price/Films

Admittedly, I have not watched the Dirty Dozen yet. However, given that I bought this Blu-Ray 2-pack (2-discs, not both films on one disc) for $7, this is a steal. I'd pay $10 for Stalag 17 alone, which was brilliant! I love director Billy Wilder—he never seems to disappoint, pulling off every story I've seen him present onscreen. Stalag 17 isn't the intense drama that I expected, but more of a WW2 prison camp satire (think a cross between MASH and Hogan's Heroes, but directed by Billy Wilder—"Sunset Boulevard", "Ace in the Hole", "Double Indemnity"). Even if "The Dirty Dozen" is a bomb (which I've been assured by film friends that it isn't), buying the Stalag 17 BluRay on its own is usually between $15 and $20, so buying this 2-pack would be the way to go if you're in the market for that film.

I am a big fan of World War 2 films, and these are 2 of the best. "The Dirty Dozen" is a big action film with an ensemble cast, as well as a great story. "Stalag 17" on the other hand, does not have as much action, but is none the less as good if not better than "The Dirty Dozen" due to its compelling story, great acting, and suspense. The Blu-ray treatment allows these films to be seen like new again, allowing a new generation of movie watchers to enjoy.

Stalag 17 was the first movie made about American POW's and rightly can be called a classic. William Holden is great as the prisoner everyone loves to hate. Filmed in black and white to emphasize the starkness of the life of a POW. The Dirty Dozen is a good, entertaining movie starring Lee Marvin and a large ensemble cast. Marvin is tasked with molding a group of criminals and misfits into an elite force chosen to perform a highly dangerous raid supporting the D-Day invasion. Survivors will be pardoned! Both movies are very good in their own way, but seem to have little in common, except World War II.

"Stalag 17" and "The Dirty Dozen" make a nice double bill and provide great contrast in how to approach the POW situation as entertainment. The transfers are good for both films, if not eye-popping, and the sound is an improvement over the DVD versions. Extras are decent, too, making this an incredible bargain at the low sale price (under $5 when I bought it)..

William Holden is great in the Stalag 17 POW Camp movie which has equal moments of light and dark material seamlessly integrated. The supporting characters are all excellent and none are depicted as one dimensional. Le Marvin is excellent in the Dirty Dozen as the leader of a group of prisoners grouped together to kill as many German officers as they can.

Hey come on this is a no brainer here. Two great WWII movies in one package, I'm all in!!! William Holden is terrific in Stalag 17, which has got a great script and supporting cast. The Dirty Dozen has Lee Marvin in the lead role with one of the best ensemble casts ...ever! This has a good story and is extremely well acted and is a must have in any film library.

It is great to have both these movies in Blu Ray. I was surprised to have a bonus movie "The Dirty Dozen: The Next Mission" included with the original movie. This is a TV movie sequel made in 1985 (18 years after the original). With the "Stalag 17" are some interesting bonuses as well.

Billy Wilder is America's greatest director and Stalag 17 is fantastic film. William Holden is magnificent as the con man turned hero...kind of. Dirty Dozen one of the best action films of all time with a cast of who's who. Both are classics.

Two of my all time favorite war-themed movies with two different but legendary actors of their time. Lee Marvin as the hard gritty take-not-guff actor and William Holden was the polar opposite character and both proved how legendary actors should perform. Both movies also mixed in the right amount of light-hearted moments to give for fun well-rounded movies.

Caught these on sale for $4.99. I've actually never seen Stalag 17, but look forward to checking it out. The Dirty Dozen is one of the great "guys" movies from days past. Highly recommended.

Two terrific war movies and added "bonus" movie. The main movies are pre-requisites for those who enjoy old war movies, especially now on BluRay at a very attractive price.

This Blu-ray double feature is a great deal, with cynically comic "Stalag 17" making a nice contrast to the gung-ho theatrics of "The Dirty Dozen." Both movies look good if not great in hi-def, but the sound on both releases gets a new lease on life. Bonus features are decent if lightweight.

.....do not look here. If you're just looking for some good entertainment, loosely based on World War II, go ahead and get this. Remember watching these movies years ago (won't bore you with how many) and it was fun to watch them again. Can't beat the price and to have them both on one disc? Sweet.

Don't believe the aspect ratio for DIRTY DOZEN

I was disappointed that the aspect ratio for THE DIRTY DOZEN was actually 16:9, when the aspect ration listed on the packaging was 1:1.85. I would've bought STALAG 13 by itself, if the true aspect ratio for THE DIRTY DOZEN had been properly listed on the box.
