I am glad I didn't let all the negative reviews and complains about dual screen motion controls stop me from getting this game! I am a Star Fox fan and this one is as fun and exciting as ever. You get used to the motion controls in few minutes and to the dual screen action in a little longer than that. Negative reviews say it is a demanding control scheme, but I didn't find it so. It is something you learn and get better at with every time you play. I do like the art style, and LOVE the sound! This is a game that you can always go back to, discover secrets, go for higher scores and unlockables. Guard is also a fun game, and it comes bundled with Star Fox Zero. It is an original take on tower defence games. I haven't play much, but just because I am enjoying the main Star Fox game too much.

Star Fox Zero is, despite what you may have read, a good game. Yes, Nintendo foolishly chose to implement the gamepad in non-essential ways, forcing you to use it (in fact, I played through the entire game just using the cockpit view). Yes, the formula of the series is largely unchanged, with the exception of the phases of bosses and dogfights, and the campaign is short, albeit not un replayability, which is how the series has always been. Underneath these issues is a good game that could've been great. Nintendo tried something new, and though it works, the game isn't as successful as it could have been. As it might have been, had everyone not lost their mind because it's a new way to play a Star Fox game. Playing through the campaign, collecting all the medals, and going for high scores are still the crux of the game, something SFZ makes easier to accomplish by allowing you to replay a stage upon completion without penalty, as laser upgrades and bombs no longer carry over from stage to stage. Bottom line: I 100%ed this game and had a blast doing it.

The good news is that it is Star Fox in HD! Graphics are great, voice is great and the game looks polished. The bad news - The game uses motion controls only. If you do not like moving your game pad around then you will not like this game. With a little patience of playing the game you do get used to it. If you are willing to do that then this game will be a rewarding experience.

This takes a little bit to get used to. The controls are interesting to say the least, but when you do figure them out and get comfortable you will have a lot of fun! There is a lot of attention to detail, and even though the game isn't the longest, you have reasons to go back and collect all the hidden items. Replay value is high. Just have to get over the controller issues first.

Great return to form with Star Fox Zero! Initially there is a big learning curve to get the hang of the two screen controlling system (on both the game pad and TV screen) that leads to a lot of frustration. But as soon as I mastered the controls, it opened up a whole new world of fun. And it even comes with a great little mini game, Star Fox Guard, which is a lot of fun too!

This is the closest Nintendo's ever been to making a traditional Star Fox game in 20 years. It's pretty fun, but the camera becomes really wonky at times and you'll find yourself pressing - frequently to switch between 1st and 3rd person. That hacking robot you need to use a few times is pretty pointless too. The game is traditional Star Fox 64 style fare, so try it.

I loved the old Star Fox games and this one is awesome as well, the only thing that kept it from five stars is the controls, it's a little overwhelming at first and it takes some getting used to but it eventually gets easier as you get the hang of it, other than that minor flaw it's another classic Nintendo masterpiece.

The game is basically a retelling of Star Fox 64. The controls are fine; however, you may have difficulty learning the gyro-controls. To compensate, Nintendo created a fail-safe mode where you don't get damaged. If you have trouble, use that mode. The game is definitely worth playing, but try to find it at a discount.

Yes, the controls take a bit of getting used to, but they're nowhere near as bad as many reviews have indicated. The gameplay is fantastic, and any Wii U owners who have enjoyed past Starfox games really should give this a try. The retail version also includes the full game Starfox Guard on a separate disc.

I purchased this for my nephew, I went ahead and opened it so I could see how it all worked. The controls were a little confusing. Once you get them down they aren't too bad. This is a good Star Fox game. There are more levels, vehicles and places to explore. Overall good game if you like Star Fox 64.

It has take a bit to get the controls down for the game to be able to play this effectively, but overall a fun game. So far the standards seem unreachable for achieving point statuses for each level, hoping to get better as I play the game. Overall, if you are a star fox fan, you will enjoy it.

If you are a fan of Star Fox games or are just looking for a fun arcade style game, give this game a shot. Personally I loved it. The controls can be hard to get use to for some, but once you do you'll find the game to be a great enjoyable experience. The game also has tons of replay value.

The game is fun. The controls at times can be a bit difficult when playing solo. Has plenty of replay value. Has a fair amount of optional bosses. It is relatively short but kind of a trait for arcade style games: challenging and short with high replay. Maintains charm of previous titles.

I had fun with this game and I'd consider a Wii U title certainly worth owning. It's fun, action packed, and a nice trip down memory lane sometimes. The controls are something you'll need to get used to, but they're far from a game breaker. The bonus Star Fox Guard is also pretty fun!

If you like star fox, this is a game you should check out. The controls are hard at first and take some time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it this game is actually pretty good, despite the negativity surrounding it. Give it a fair shot and you may be surprised.

A lot of people gave this game a bad wrap, but these are the same people that complain about games not having innovation! Nintendo always likes to try new things, and Star Fox Zero is just that! It uses the TV and the Wii U Game Pad simultaneously to play! People found looking at two screens and multi-tasking to be difficult and annoying. However, I found the whole experience really immersive! Even the "radio comms" that your team sends you comes out through the Gamepad, which is cool! You're looking at the screen while you fly, but you use the gamepad to look around on another level (as if inside the cockpit), and allows for more precise aiming! To be honest, it's not that difficult, and the second screen almost isn't necessary (save for a few bossfights). I found it a really fun re-imagining of Star Fox 64, and even threw in a few plot twists. I think it's worth the play, and I had fun re-playing it several times!

I love that there's an inclusion of another game when you buy this one and of course the visuals are great!!! My only gripe at the moment are the controls...they are terrible!!! I hope there will be a patch in the near future to fix this but other than that, the game is awesome....

Let me start by saying I did play the game, got used to the controls, and beat it. However my initial reaction and opinion to the game still stands. Through out the first portion of the game, I found myself keeping my hands perfectly still so that I wouldn't move the game pad control. Trying to capture the Star Fox 64 game play/flawless control that we all loved so much. However, I accepted that motion controls were a must and learned to play with them. -Game Play:- The game in itself is actually really fun. Lot's of challenges, great level lay outs. Great shoot em up rails game. If you've played previous Star Fox's, you'll be no stranger in how you advanced in the game. -Graphics/Visuals:- They were "decent", however I know Nintendo could have done a much better job. However, I am a firm believer in graphics isn't what makes a game fun. So while the graphics were a bit... meh, game play > graphics. -Sound:- This was a huge disappointment for me. Everything pretty much comes out of the game-pad which has a pretty poor speaker quality to begin with. There should have been an option to allow it to come out on both TV and game pad. -Controls:- Now this is where Nintendo really dropped the ball for me. Yes, I know this is a divided subject, but I'm giving my opinion. I've pretty much "mastered" the controls. However, I still do not like them and the fact that it's required to use motion control. Barrel Rolls I'm used to using with the L and R button, which has now changed to the Right joy stick. Having to mash on the right stick constantly ( which some times doesn't even work very well, resulting in a hit when I actually meant to roll ) while trying to boost, etc does not provide a smooth flow on game play. It feels very awkward. This is where GCN//Pro Controller support should have shined. And then there are the motion controls. There has been enough criticism regarding this, so I'll keep mine short. This Star Fox by far is one of the hardest to control and have fun with due to the motion controls itself. The fact that there is no support for any classic controls is an opportunity Nintendo missed. That being said, I did see the motion controls work REALLY well for stages like the Gyropter, and maybe even the Submarine/LandMaster. For the Arwing though, they should have let us have classic controls. It just feels right. Star Fox typically has a high reply value for me ( I've must;'ve beaten Star Fox 64 over 200+ times ), however due the frustrating controls ( especially at Andross ), this game will sadly collect dust on my shelf as a collect piece. No multi-player support or anything really to make me re-play this with friends. So in short, Game was fun! It's not terrible. But the controls just aren't for me. I like the old fly and shoot method with my controller. :)
