I loved Star Fox 64 as a kid and this game looks to be just as good. I haven't played it yet but I have heard that it is just more of what the N64 game was and I am happy to hear that. Yeah some complained about the controls but the two player dual controls sound like a blast. To top this off, you get a second game included. While it might not be much, its great they packaged these together instead of trying to get more cash out of the Nintendo faithful.

The graphics in this game are pretty good. It's a shame that this game forces you to use the motion controls. Otherwise, I thought this game would have been much better.

I grew up with starfox originals and this is a huge nod to them. Great visuals, same feel as the other ones. Control scheme takes some getting used to before it is helpful.

Star Fox Zero is a good game, but the controls are what make this game less fun because there is a learning curve. It's also nice that you get Star Fox Guard for free.

This game looks and sounds like a modern remake of Star Fox 64. That's both a good and bad thing. The game is pretty polished, but it's predictable when it comes to the story. It introduces new gameplay mechanics such as the chicken walker, and gyro wing/direct-i robot, but they don't feel entirely necessary. And the controls are awkward. I completed the game, and still felt like I wasn't used to them. Why Miyamoto couldn't have just developed a Star Fox game using traditional controls is beyond me.

Great game! Great graphics, good story, and the nostalgic roots of the first game. The controls take some time to get used to, but once acclimated, fun and challenging.

The game would get an higher rating if the controls were better. The graphics are very good, but moving the spacecraft by motion control was not a good idea.

I was a bit worried picking this up on launch day, as I had seen so many people online complaining that the controls were broken. But after finishing an initial run through the game's first route, I couldn't disagree more. Yes, the controls are more complicated than previous games, but they also allow you to do so much more, such as firing at a target to the left while banking to the right. And yes, I initially had some issues during my first play through the first level of the game, Corneria, but upon subsequent plays, I found myself improving and pulling off some incredible moves, even discovering a new way to defeat the stage boss. The game encourages experimentation, as there is often more than one way to accomplish a task. To sum it up, you'll get as much from the game as you put into it.
The graphics of the game, while perhaps not as detailed as other current gen games, keep up a nearly perfect 60fps framerate on both the TV and the Gamepad. The music features both new tracks and remixes of themes from previous games, and the voice cast from Star Fox 64 return to reprise their roles. My one quibble is that the voices of enemies and your crew come out of the Gamepad, which, while neat and immersive, is sometimes drowned out by the action on the TV.
Star Fox Zero is a fun game that focuses more on pure gameplay and achieving a high score than story and graphics. If you want a game that you can just pick up and blow through like a typical third person shooter, you should look elsewhere. If you're looking for a unique experience that will challenge you to learn new ways to play, give Star Fox Zero a shot.

This game will be a lot of fun for fans of Star Fox 64. The gameplay is very similar. My main complaints would be the weird controls and length of the game.

I was pleased to hear about the return of Star Fox for a next gen console, and having played the title for a short while, I am enjoying the new entry. Not groundbreaking, for sure, but the addition of the gamepad's motion controls and display/earpiece for fellow fliers, makes for a fairly unique experience. Good visuals, and tight flight mechanics benefit the game as well. I'm just not sure how much I'll be replaying this one. Tossing in 'Star Fox Guard' was a nice touch...a straightforward tower defense mini-game that a friend can assist with if needed.

While the game's controls can be a little off at times, the tutorial is very helpful. Otherwise the game feels like a a true Starfox 64 successor.

This is a return to the familiar play of Star Fox 64, but it brings many new and exciting things to the formula. The game play and score goals give this title fantastic replay value. The controls do present a challenge to anyone who isn't familiar with the Wii U motion controls, but if you play through the Training Missions and experiment you will find yourself getting comfortable with them quickly.

Best Star Fox Game in Years

OK, so maybe only Star Fox game in years. Anyway, got to play this before release at PAX and loved it. The controls do take some getting used to and it would have been nice to have the option of just using the Pro Controller, but overall a really fun fame. Picked this up during Best Buy's Black Friday in July sale, and at that price point (especially with Guard included) it was well worth it.

I love the extent of that nostalgia feel I get from it. Takes me back to the Nintendo 64. The visuals are great and both the enemies and levels are well designed and play well.
However… the motion controls are awful. By default, it's the only way to aim. It feels so unnatural. Even if you got the coordination to do it, it's not fun and doesn't feel like a "plane" should work this way.
The "ostrich" transformation sounds like it could be fun, though gimmicky. Sorry, but the controls are hard. The fact that a two legged vehicle can't walk sideways is baffling.
Also, the ostrich is goofy when your flying in space. I mean, I feel like there should be no gravity when away from a ship or planet. And it doesn't feel right that, in space, you can walk on a large ship, but only the top, or you fall off the ledge… in space. Then again, it's a game starring cartoon animals in spacecraft. I might be leaning to hard on that one.
The helicopter coulda been fun, if not for that awful robot that comes with it. Terrible controls.
I was gonna rage quit after the first level till I found the settings to kinda sorta toggle it. I've nearly beat the game and I still hate the controls. While this game had so much potential, the unpleasant control scheme is distracting and has practically ruined the experience for me.
I regret paying full price for this. Sorry Nintendo. You have my unending support, but you did slip up a bit.
I haven't touched the game bundled with this yet, but I feel like the developers should have put their full focus on the real game.
