Fantastic game, controls take getting used to...

Fun and thrilling Star Fox game that, for the most part, returns to it's N64 and SNES roots...THAT being said, the gameplay interface has gone through a major Wii U control scheme overhaul, taking advantage of the dual screen gameplay that requires you to shift focus between the main tv display and the gamepad's touchscreen, and uses additional gyroscopic motion controls. This control scheme takes adjusting to for those used to the N64 controls, but once you do, the game is enjoyable and immersive!

The gameplay is great, the controls not so much. I was psyched for this title and was intrigued by how the motion controls and controller were going to come into play, but this was just not executed well. If you spend the time to learn the controls then it's great, but the frustration I endured before then just made it feel not worth it in the end. Hope they try to reboot again in the future with standard controls.

Star Fox is Back and this is one of the greatest it's games to come in years. Fun, challenging, and quite addicting. The gyro controls are a great new feature in my opinion. Beautiful graphics. A must have for the Wii U owners out there. Some may say the controls are no good and ruins the game, but I didn't let that stop me and I am glad I didn't either.

Upon first look, SF 0 looks to be a HD remake of the N64 classic SF64 and that wouldn't be much of a bad thing. I played SF64 many many many times so the notion of a Star Fox Wii U title had me tremendously excited. And the fact that PlatinumGames is developing alongside Nintendo? Sign me up. So does this game live up to the hype? Sadly no. This game is neither a sequel, prequel, or even a remake. This is just simply a new take on the SF series. The graphics are rather simplistic at times but it does look very clean and runs at near 60 FPS almost consistently. So what can make a SF shooter simply average? Well i will have to say Nintendo definitely shot for more than they can handle as the control scheme combined with the Gamepad's second screen make for a cumbersome experience that has you splitting your attention between watching the TV and watching the Gamepad screen. For a game of this scale where fast reflexes and all out action is rampant, you'd think you need to have all of your attention on one screen. Apparently Nintendo didn't think as they thought adding a second screen which gives a cockpit view would help with precision aiming and shooting. Well it doesn't and simply goes to make the game harder than it has to be. Would I recommend this? Well to Star Fox die hards only? Otherwise, the Wii U has plenty of quality of titles to choose from not to mention some late releases such as Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Zelda, and Paper Mario.

I think Nintendo fell short on this one. They are usually really good when it comes to publishing first party games. The mandatory use of the gamepad is annoying, and the controls seem clunky. Definitely not what I was expecting. Other than that the graphics are great, they story line is just like any other Star Fox game. I would't really recommend it unless you're a die hard Star Fox fan.

GREAT GAME SAME AS THE N64 version Only complaint is that the game pad is a little difficult to control at times but once you get use to it then it gets better

Star Fox is a fun game if you enjoy space shooters or you're a fan of the original SNES or N64 games. It only takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours to complete, but there are alternate paths to go back and find. The controls take some getting used to, especially in all range mode where you can fly around the entire map, but they work fine once you're used to them. If you're skeptical about the game like I was at first, download the demo from the Wii U shop and try it before you buy.

Maybe I expected too much, but I could not enjoy this as much as I wanted to. You must have motion controls on and that makes some parts harder and others, it really makes no difference. It certainly looks nice and includes all of your favorite characters, but it just has too many faults for me to recommend unless you must play a new Star Fox game and even then, I hate to recommend it.

This game has been controversial since release due to the use of gamepad motion controls and a two screen system. We've been craving for a new Star Fox game, but stayed on the fence when Star Fox Zero came out because of the mixed reviews. However, Nintendo just released a free demo that can be downloaded on the eShop. That sold me. The controls are certainly different, but innovative. They're not a gimmick, but rather a good attempt to simulate what it's like to really be a fighter pilot. They're a bit awkward at first because it's unlike any control scheme you've experienced. But after an hour or two, the controls become intuitive and you realize how awesome this game is. Part of me wished there was online multiplayer, or a coventional control scheme that would let you spend less time aiming with the Gamepad screen and more time looking at the HD visuals on the TV. However, this game is excellent without those options and is a massive advancement from Star Fox 64. Plus, you also get a second game, Star Fox Guard (which is good fun), for free. If you're on the fence like I was, try the free demo and give this game a chance. I think you'll fall in love like I did.

If you've been waiting for a new star fox game like I have then you'd probably be happy with just about anything. Nintendo didn't take the easy route though. Combat, music, pacing and dialogue are all top notch. The controls are fantastic too and it really makes intuitive use of the wiimote. The game was a tad on the short side but it is replayable. You won't be let down if you love star fox and even if you don't you will find something to enjoy jere!

It's basically a really unoriginal reinvention of Star Fox 64. Multiple paths, same characters and basic gameplay. Still, this is a good formula, just nothing new. The new vehicles are fun albeit often gimmicky and the control are really immersive if you can get them down. Not a recommended game at full retail price but definitely consider it when it's on sale.

Starfox Zero is an awesome, fun, and nostalgic game. The biggest issue is motion control. It's not terrible, but it's also not the greatest thing ever. For those who love Nintendo 64, don't expect this experience to be the same. For those trying to get into Starfox, I think it's managable, but if you enjoy Zero, go back and try 64. It's a good time, but the controls do take you out of the dogfighting zone every now and then and thus a 4/5.

This is a game that is polarizing. It isn't an easy game, and it requires a lot of attention and it's stressful. That being said, as a fan of Star Fox and Star Fox 64 I love this game. It's been a long time since Nintendo has made a classic Star Fox game and this has it. It will require dedication and effort, but it's worth it. Since it's not for everyone I rated it 4 stars, don't buy this if you want something to relax with.

Most if not all the reviews regarding this game talk about the bad controls. I personally feel they are not bad. The game does ask a lot of you by learning the new control scheme, but once you give it a few hours they feel very natural. My problem is that there are too many variations. Once you get used to the Arwing controls, they throw you in the Gyrowing, then the Landmaster... I'd prefer if the game just stuck with one vehicle.

Starfox for the wii u is a great game with impressive graphics and is a game that i have been waiting for since the N64 game. However there is one major flaw which is the game controls. The game makes you use akward camera angles and mechanics that take too much time to get used to. They need to make the gamepad optional or at the very least make its function different. Overall the game is fun beside the steep learnig curve.

Star Fox Zero is similar in style to the original Super Nintendo game and Star Fox 64 but with some new features like additional vehicles and motion controls for aiming. The motion controls have been controversial but I found them to be rather intuitive and that they worked well in the new cooperative mode.

I've been waiting a long time for a true successor to Star Fox 64, as it was my favorite SF game (I even bought the port on the 3DS). However, I wound up unsatisfied with SFZ. The pros: Gorgeous graphics and sound. The levels look amazing and the 3D sound through the gamepad is a very clever implementation. The cons: The transition between looking at the TV and looking at the gamepad is horrible. Pretty much the only way you can tell if you need to look at the gamepad is when it becomes hard to control your aircraft while looking at the TV. And even playing through the gamepad is not very accurate and not fun at all. In addition, I was not a fan of most of the various land and air vehicles in the game; most were difficult for me to control and not fun to play with. Overall, I understand change is necessary. I just wasn't in favor of most of the new elements. The new controls gave me motion sickness, which is why I was hoping for a formula nearly identical to SF 64. I will be sticking to the port on the 3DS from here on out for my SF fix. However, I would still recommend this game for huge SF fans and those who do not get motion sickness during games.
