Star Fox Zero has the great aerial combat of old star foxes. It also introduces some new vehicles to control in combat. The controls take getting used to and make the gameplay more difficult than it should be. Once the controls are mastered the game is a decent play.

This game was perfect for anyone who played Star Fox as a kid! They kept true to the original game play, but updated everything and made it more immersive. The 2-player aspect is wonderful also; having someone use the gamepad to shoot while you can focus on flying your ship made the levels a lot easier. I also love the new ships!

The campaign is pretty much exactly like Star Fox 64 with a generous amount of additional sections, levels, and vehicles. The controls require you to move the ship with the analog stick while aiming your reticle using the gamepad gyroscope. You have to routinely switch between watching your TV when you want a wide view of the area and watching the gamepad when you want a tight view of your target. It's not as bad as it sounds but several bosses seem to demand a finesse or responsiveness that you're unlikely to possess on the first try. The bulk of the content is in replaying levels to find secrets and get better scores which will also have you gradually improving your mastery of the controls. All in all it's a fun but frustrating game that doesn't do much that Star Fox 64 didn't already do better. I bought it on sale so I'm happy with it but at the normal $60 price I'd pass on it.

I thing I was expecting too much, since its been years since Nintendo release a Star Fox game, graphics are very nice. Story line wasn't so bad, more of a reboot, but still pretty good, the one things I really really was disappointed about was the controllers and the Co-op mode, they really screw that up personally.

The reviews are all over the place, but I think if you give this one some time and teach yourself the crazy controls, it's an enjoyable trip. You have to give it to platinum games for attempting to integrate the gamepad completely (although some will argue it's been shoehorned into it). Not too shabby in my opinion.

The visuals and animations are clean and detailed. The music and sound effects are immersive. The levels are very addictive. The controls do take time to get used to but they work. The COOP is very fun

A clunky control scheme makes thie main game too frustrating to play. Honestly, it only gets the 3 star review because the accompanying game, Star Fox Guard, is somewhat enjoyable. Rent before buying if you can or at least wait for a low sale price.

This highly-anticipated entry in the Star Fox series delivers all the fun you expect, with fun levels and great battles. However, the Wii U controls make the game really awkward to play. The controls are very strange and difficult to get used to.

This is a great Star Fox game. The controls are a little controversial but after a little while you can get a handle on the motion controls. It works well the graphics are good and its a fun arcade style type of game.

Star Fox Zero looks fantastic on the Wii U I've enjoyed playing it, but I just can't get used to the gamepad control scheme. Having to look down at the game pad and then back up at the tv screen, over and over, just doesn't work. If it wasn't for the controls, I would have given Star Fox Zero 5 stars.

I am no a fan from the Star Fox games but I decided to give it a try. It's very similar to Star Fox 64. The only think that I dislike was using the gamepad to shoot and put in front of the tv screen all the time. There might be different methods of gameplay but I used since I don't a pro controller.

This game is overall fun, the control scheme is a litte difficult to get used to, but overall makes sense. My biggest complaint as that there is no co-op like the original where you fly two different ships with split screen. You both control the same ship. Overall the game is good, classic play style.

It takes a while to get the hang of the motion controls, but when you finally do, it's a fun time. BECAUSE of the motion controls and lack of vs multiplayer, I recommend 64 over this one personally BUT it's a good game overall. Do not let the negative critic reviews stop you from trying this one.

This is a fun addition to the Star Fox franchise. Many have complained about the controls being hard to get use to but I really don't think it's that bad. In truth I actually enjoy the bonus mini game more than the main game though. Although it's not one of my favorites it's been a fun play.

A Trip to Memory Lane

Star Fox Zero does a great job of reminding the player of past exploits in Star Fox 64. After the initial awe wears off, unfortunately the game is hampered by a forced control scheme and a wonky camera. To be fair, the dual screen view is perfectly functional but Star Fox has succeeded greatly without finicky aiming. The biggest issue comes with the camera providing a phenomenal cinematic view but hindering ship location in battle.
Star Fox Guard saves the package with an extremely fresh take on the RTS genre and makes great use of the Game Pad. Star Fox Zero is in no way a bad game but stumbles in key areas hindering it's high points. For a trip down memory lane, Star Fox 64 3D succeeds far more than Zero and pulls off the great fear of being better than the memories it created.

Star Fox Zero is a decent game at its core, especially for fans of the series, but the experience is completely ruined by its unfortunate use of forced motion controls. You can turn these off in the options menu, using the GamePad to navigate traditionally, but you're still forced in to using them during the boss fights -- you know, when it really matters. These controls for you to use the GamePad screen instead of your TV, while tilted it around in order to aim and shoot. It's poorly executed and buries any form of entertainment offered by Star Fox Zero. On the plus side, Star Fox Guard is actually fun and is included for free.

If you like the Star Fox 64 game from days gone by, then you will like this. Its short, 5-6 hours to complete with no replayability but the graphics look great and you get a second game called Guard which is entertaining. Make sure you are a Gamer's Zone member so you get 20% off.

Good game, once you get over the learning curve regarding the controls. You have yourself a solid arcade action game. If the controls aren't your cup of tea, I suggest Star Fox 64 3D instead!

This is very good in my opinion. It is a a classic starfox game with a little more action than before.
Some things I wish were not there, like the slow, pointless level when you are using the flying , plane/helicopter looking thing.
Besides this I really recommend this game.
