I am a life long Star Trek fan, and I have enjoyed all incarnations of Star Trek. I know the alternative "Kelvin Timeline" of Star Trek created by J.J. Abrams is not universally enjoyed, but I have grown to enjoy the incarnation. I was a bit concerned when it was announced that Abrams would not Direct this movie and after seeing the first trailer I was not expecting much when I sat down to watch this movie. However, the movie pleasantly surprised me. It is a well written and paced movie. Plenty of action here and some great nods to Star Trek lore, including the era of the 22nd Century that was explored in Star Trek Enterprise (MACOs!). If you are a Star trek fan, you will enjoy this movie.

Really enjoyed this film in the theaters and when I purchased it on Blu-ray, I was not disappointed. Visually the film has vibrancy and depth and great contrast, even in the faster moving scenes. The story gets back to deeper plots of purpose and being lost without a focus. As has been in the past films, the chemistry of cast is superb and dialogue is delivered well. The sound is top tier and really shines with the subtle surround channels adding the ambiance of "being there". Some scenes do pack a bass punch and the use of more contemporary music in key scenes is fun and lively. Both the visual presentation and audio presentation will benefit the most from a good quality HT system.

Remember in the Search for Spoke when Kirk said: My God, what have I done? And McCoy replies: What you had to do, what you always do. Turn death into a fighting chance to live. I feel as though that is the James Kirk we see here (although younger). In this film, I feel we have finally returned to the final frontier. And our captains his top officer and a new comrade go head to head to challenge the odds in a new thrilling new adventure. This is not a previous story retold with a different twist. This is Star Trek the next adventure…

Another one-liner from Bones in an action packed version of the new Star Trek series. I know there are a lot of purists out there that really didn't bond with the new cast. But, I enjoy all versions of the Trek genre. I own the original series on DVD and all the movies made thus far - this one included. Don't expect a significant screen play, but the action and special effects are great. And, all the old traits of the Enterprise crew are delivered by the actors who stayed true to the original characters. Only thing that kept me from 5 starts is the action bogs down a bit in the sphere and the outcome is predictable....aren't they all. Still, a great sci-fy ride.

This 3rd installment may not be the best of the three but you will not be disappointed. The visual cinematography, storyline, and action is not to be missed. All I can say is when is part 4 coming out. I watched the rob show when I was a kid and wondered how can this compete??? Well it not only competes it crushes the tv show and destroys the old movies. Those not into Star Trek like my teenagers are now fans and have watched each movie at least 3 times. Yes my teenagers watched it more than twice you heard right.....

You don't have to be a diehard Star Trek fan to enjoy Star Trek Beyond. You don't even need to know anything about the characters. That said, Star Trek fans should enjoy this movie. Lots of action and humor. And keeping personality traits of the characters from the original series without the actors merely doing imitations makes for a nice continuity being the old and the new. There were a couple things in the plot that were less than perfect, but we overlooked them, and just sat back and enjoyed the movie.

Perhaps the best movie in the new franchise, rebooted in the first movie by J.J. Abrams in 2009. This time, the crew of the "Enterprise", while trying to rescue a crew stranded in a planet, get attacked by a swarm of small ships led by the ruthless Krall (Idris Elba). Now our favorite crew has to do their best to get out of the planet and prevent an attack over the Federation. The Blu-Ray extras, though a bit short, are very enlightening, including a touching tribute to Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin.

I really enjoyed this Star Trek sequel. When I saw the previews, I thought the previews might end up being better than the movie, but not so. This movie was really good. It had great action, a great plot, and you really connected with the characters. I love it when a movie can "take me away", and this one truly took me to "a galaxy, far, far away" (corny, I know). But I was very surprised at how much I liked this movie. I would definitely recommend this movie (and you don't have to be a trekkie to enjoy)!

We saw this movie while it was in the theaters and really enjoyed the action and the continuation of the star trek saga with this newer, younger generation. This continues the series of the TV "prequels" and actually follows the story line from the TV series very well. Everything fits in with the overall story and really feels like you are watching episodes you missed before...just better graphics and plots...but they stayed true to the ship and costume design. Very well done, great plot and great action.

I really enjoyed the first two rebooted Star Trek films. The cast is great and the characters were well developed during those movies. The third, feels more like a TV episode. Presumably, by now, the filmmakers believe the audience to be familiar with each character, so there is little character development. This is too bad, because the primary antagonist (played by the wonderful Idris Elba) got little screen time (particularly in the first half of the movie). Most people, however, are purchasing for special effects, which the movie delivers in spades. Overall, fun movie for a Saturday night; nothing more, nothing less.

I saw the movie on the big screen and liked it a lot. It is entertaining, action packed, visually nice, funny at times and good acting. The story is not bad either. It is not as good as the first Star TreK movie re-booth that came out with this cast a few years back, but it is still a good movie. The Blu Ray disc is very good and has excellent video and audio with some bonus material. The disc also comes with DVD and a UV digital copy, which is a big plus. The price at Best Buy, as always, was really good. If you are a Star Trek fan or you like good science fiction movies, go for this one. Highly recommended.

If you've watched the last two entries in the Star Trek series, the whole cast is back again. It has the familiar sense of humor that the franchise is known for, as well as a seemingly unbeatable and mysterious enemy. I've always enjoyed Star Trek and it's vision of a better world. It's true Sci-fi and excites the imagination. The special effects were well done and the blu ray quality is clear and crisp with bright colors.This seemed to be the brightest (color and lighting) of the trek trilogy. Haven't watched it with a surround sound system yet, so I'm unsure of the audio. It sounded fine on my Samsung suhd TV.

I thought star trek beyond was an excellent movie. You can read many reviews about why it was a great movie and reasons why others may have thought differently. I always purchase the Blu ray dvd and digital hd so that i can view the movie on any smart tv laptop or mobile device. The dvd enables me to watch the movie on a legacy device like in my truck or camper. And Blu ray is always good for when u have a player and big screen tv. I have not had a chance to view any special features.

This new Star Trek movie hits the mark. If you are somewhat or totally into Star Trek films, Beyond keeps the action going with wonderful cuts of humor interlaced. Plot is not new but the filmmakers do such a great job presenting the and twisting the plot, there is never a dull moment. Beyond is a great movie that will appeal to even the casual viewer. Oh did I mention the great special effects, the great interaction with the characters, and the action scenes? They are all top notch.

I have seen complaints online that not everyone likes the new direction of the Star Trek movies. The newer J. J Abrams movies have tended towards big action sequences, chases and fights rather than the more personal stories of the original series...oh and of course the signature Abrams lens flares. I guess I don't have a huge problem with the new focus. The movies are certainly entertaining while still retaining a lot of the humor and individual moments between the characters. I don't like to go into much detail about the individual movie to avoid spoilers but suffice to say I did enjoy this one.

I have been a fan of Star Trek for over forty years and it never gets old. I still can't get over how the producers found actors that really capture the essence of the original actors. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, and others easily fill the shoes of the original cast. Karl Urban does a better 'Bones' than the original, played by DeForest Kelley. Anyway, Star Trek Beyond was another great ride through the universe and I hope that this franchise never EVER ends.

It continues the Star Trek story. Good action. The "death toast" to Chekov was rather poorly woven into the BEGINNING of the move, not the end. He was in the entire movie! But Trekkies will overlook the continuity flaw. Movie is a welcome addition to ALL the ST movies I have...even all the old TV shows. Saw it in the 3D theater and was very anxious for the Blu-Ray to come out. Best Buy usually has the best prices! If you like ST, Si-Fi, & space movies.......get it.

In general, Star Trek Movies do well in the theaters but not exceptional. I guess, the number of Star Trekkies are reduced for the young. I really like this movie. It is a bit different than the last two by JJ Abrams. Certainly a lot of action. I wish more people attend these movies even though they may not have followed Star Trek in the past. Star Trek has had a phenomenal success over the years. I look forward to another Star Trek movie. I enjoy all of them.

First, I'm an avid Star Trek fan from the first season back in the '60s. Having said that, I think Roddenberry would be very proud of this one. Pine, Quinto, et al. do a bangup job enhancing the already intense standard set in place by the Shatner team. Karl, Zoe, Simon, and Anton (RIP) are all first class. I just didn't like the bad guy -- way too reminiscent of "Outer Limits" and not original at all. The effects are fantastic in 3D. Great sound track too.

Best movie of the new Star Trek franchise. Simon Pegg helped to create a story that brought back memories of the original cast and their various interactions. the CGI was not overly obtrusive like some of the recent Marvel and DC movies. Very nice tribute to Anton Yelchin and Leonard Nimoy in the Special Features as well as the movie itself. The motorcycle scene was also welcomed instead of the usual high tech rescue device. Thoroughly Enjoyable movie.
