After George Lucas nearly destroyed the Star Wars universe with the horrible backstory prequels, JJ Abrams jolted the franchise back to life. Han, Chewie, Leia, C3PO, R2D2, Luke... all there plus a new group of youngsters (good and bad) bring fresh new life to Star Wars.
This movie really sets things up well for the next two, that will finish the 9 movie story that Lucas originally had envisioned. As a fan who watched the original Star Wars in cinemas when I was 6 years old, this brought me back to that place in a way the prequels failed to. Good for kids and adults alike. Add the Steelbook to your collection!

The Problem w/ Steelbooks

As someone who saw the film on opening night, I was more than happy to add the latest Star Wars film to my collection, especially for $9.99 (sale price at the time of my purchase).
For the movie:
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though, I felt the fan service seemed to go a bit overboard at certain points. As for industry feedback, the film currently (as of 2/6/17) sits at a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
For the product:
At this point in time, the throw-in DVD version of movies seems unnecessary but is good to have just-in-case. The steelbook design is nice, but the inclusion of Captain Phasma on the back is a bit baffling, considering the backlash for her role in the film. The big thing to note with this particular steelbook is that it is made of the softer, more flimsy material option. As such, dents and dings are more likely to occur, as was the case with the copy that I received.
Overall, this version of The Force Awakens is going to be worth it to a Star Wars fan. I just wish it had been constructed like some of the heavier and more sturdy steelbook cases that I own, instead of the cheap feeling ones.

For those of you who love the original trilogy of Star Wars and were annoyed with the prequels bad acting (by certain characters), get ready for JJ Abrams one shot on Star Wars in the beginning of a new Trilogy. Watch him take the focal points of the original episode iv and make it better. Included in the film are: droid on a new desert planet, young unknown character taking care of droid, bad guys searching for droid, escaping planet on cool ship, new cantina scene and song, joining a rebellion/resistance, destruction of an important planet in the universe that no one has heard of by death star/planet 2.0, sneaking around bad guys base, rebellion/resistance attack on bad guys base, sacrifice of a cool older character, and trench runs to blow up bad guy base. Be amazed as Abrams appeases all audiences by having a strong female role model, injecting diversity, and applying great use of humor. This film has great acting, is action packed and leaves the audience wanting more. Buy it to continue your Star Wars collection and to await Episode VIII arrival (rumor has it that there is a climatic twist at the end "Rey I am your brother perhaps")

Everyone has seen the movie, so I won't say much. As an old school Star Wars fan, I liked it for the most part. Not taking it in original places unlike Lucas, say what you will about his use of green screen and CGI. But once you get over that, the action is good, the new BB8 is cool, the characters are enjoyable, even if there is nobody with the charisma and screen presence of a young Harrison Ford among the new actors. If you are going to buy the blu-ray, which looks fantastic, get the Steelbook from Best Buy. It's pretty cool packaging, and a step above the regular version - worth the couple buck premium.

Personally I felt this was the best of all the Star Wars movies, but not only for the typical reasons, i.e. . better graphics and special effects. . . but for the characters. You had beloved characters from past SW movies but the new characters are amazing. Finn and Poe are fantastic and we want to see more from them. Rey is not only a strong female character but also the future of the series, and rightfully so. She's amazing! Kylo Ren, . . .well he's evil and he does it so well. Put them all together with a super storyline and you have the absolute best of the SW films.

Having been a Star Wars fan since childhood I couldn't wait to see the newest installment so I saw it in the theater on opening night. Couldn't wait for the Blu-Ray either so I picked this up on the release date. Not much I can say about the movie that other fans haven't said already so I'll just comment on this particular edition. The SteelBook packaging is awesome as usual, nice graphics and easy to remove and replace discs. Far better than the fold out cardboard other retailers were offering. Wish it would have come with some exclusive content but there are enough extras as is. All in all a great release!

If you liked the original trilogy--or Episodes 4, 5 and 6--you will love this movie. Sure, it feels like a lot of it parrots the arc of Episode 4, but is that really a bad thing? No. This is an entertaining, fun-filled ride and it will make you forget there ever was a dark time of Episodes 1, 2 and 3. Old friends are here and plenty of new ones. Finn and Rey are great, and despite any plot holes, you are sure to have a good time. About the steelcase: it's pretty nice. Glorified DVD case? Sure. But what the heck, you need some more Star Wars memorabilia in your home. Get this one, sit back and have a blast.

Gender Wars. Not believable.

Disney's push to promote female leads has left this movie unbelievable and lacking. The female lead character's lack of training or experience as a warrior makes it unbelievable. The original Star Wars movies made each character shine in their own way, without trying to make a statement. Writers need to work on content and not on a gender war.

I won't comment on the movie itself, because my opinion of it won't affect your desire to view it or not. You either like Star Wars and this movie in particular, or you don't. I am only going to point out that this steel box is very nicely done. I am huge fan of Star Wars, so having something slightly different that the average disc set was what made me get this one. I looks very nice, and holds the discs securely in the box. Best Buy does a good job with these exclusive sets.

As a big fan of the STAR WARS franchise since day one in 1977, I've purchased a DVD for each of the six films. So it was a no brainer to buy this DVD. However I really recommend this version, the Blu-Ray version. Of course it requires a Blu-Ray DVD player, but the main reason I switched to Blu-Ray is for the extra content. This movie looks great on my 1080p HDTV of course, but the added features are absolutely worth the difference. I really enjoy the "Behind The Scenes" videos as they add so much to the movie experience. So far I have watched the DVD three times and I expect I'll watch it again soon.

Yes we can hope for another Trilogy for Star Wars. It begins much like the first Trilogy but the Millinieum Falcon is center stage. The passing of Alex Guiness ( Obi Wan) brings Harrison Ford center stage in this series. The Newbies (Finn and Raye) replace Luke and Leia. This Series doesn't drag like the first Star Wars. They bring back the Cantina scene, a Death Planet, Light Sabres, X-Wings, Star Destroyers ,and remnants of the old SWs series. Old and new comers will want for more. I'm sure they are setting the audience up for the next one to have AT-ATs and Scout Walkers on a frozen planet.

After getting burned by the Prequels, I was hesitant when I went to see The Force Awakens but boy do I love this movie! It easily falls in right behind Empire as my all time favorite Star Wars movie (it will take a lot to knock that one off its pedestal). This disk is great because I can have it both in Blu-ray and watch it on my glorious TV, or take it with me on my iPad with the digital download, and I was able to give the DVD to my best friend who has yet to join the 21st century and get a Blu-ray player. I really should stop being friends with him... Great Blu-ray set of an awesome movie!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens( TFA) is an exciting, action-adventure film that holds up to the original Star Wars trilogy.
It takes place thirty years after Return of the Jedi. The Empire has fallen, but a sinister group called The First Order rises from the ashes while the Resistance has attempted to rebuild the Republic. TFA picks up the pieces for a seamless transition to its own story.
When it came out on blu ray, I got Best Buy's steelbook edition. I am a huge fan of the steelbook cases. If you're a movie buff or a collector, they stand out and make your collection look nice.

This is a great Star Wars film. It might not be quite on par with the original trilogy, but that could just be my nostalgia talking. Still, the characters and plot is solid, and it's a great tie in to the rest of the series. If you haven't seen it, then shame on you, but I won't post any spoilers here for you. Just know that yes it's very similar to the originals, but has enough differences that you're left satisfied. You might not really notice them when you first see them, but each time you watch the movie, you realize how much different is is and come to like it more.
