Why was there a 2 year gap between WOL and HOS? There were no improvements or changes to any of the races that I could see. The story was awful. I expect more from Blizzard.

The main story is pretty fun so far. My big gripe is that they seem to have taken away a lot of options in matchmaking. I use to set up matches against the AI and mess around with the difficulty and choose a map. Now they have taken all those options away.
I get to choose my race and how many AI teammates I want. And then the game determines what difficulty level I am playing at after playing a few matches. How the heck am I supposed to develop a better strategy when I'm fighting against easy opponents? How am I supposed to get a feel for the different maps when I don't even have a choice in the matter.
Then there is the fact that you must be connected to the internet, and on day one I had to wait while the game downloaded some files and updated. I just want to play the game.
If your a fan of the series there really is no choice. You have to pick up the game and find out what happens in the story. If your not a fan of the series already I wouldn't bother. Blizzard is trying to fix things that aren't broken.

Really fun expansion for StarCraft 2 fans. Using the Zerg is a nice change of pace from the Terrans. I really liked the single player campaign. I don't play a lot of ranked multiplayer, but had a lot of fun with the different custom maps.

If you like starcraft or RTS in general, this is a must-buy! Despite what others may say, the campaign is a gem. Sure, it's no better than the Wings of Liberty campaign, but that's like saying its not smoother than silk. The story is engaging, the missions are polished and fun, and the overall experience is excellent. The new units added to the game for multiplayer greatly enhance the gameplay, making it less about giants stacks of doom (slightly). Overall, great expansion!

The 2nd expansion for SC2 in the SC saga. Definitely a must have for any Blizzard fan. In my opinion the storyline is the best in any Blizzard game so far!

This is the second part of the trilogy from StarCraft II. The first one was about the Human Campaign. This one has Kerrigan and the Swarm campaign.

This is a strange situation. I feel like I love the game and hate it at the same time.
Lets start with Single Player. The main campaign was executed poorly. I will not reference any specific spoilers but Imagine all the work you did in the first game to reach your end goal. Now Undo that all in the first hour. It isn't a bad story but could have been much much better.
Also very little substance. The game is at least 15 -25 hours long depending on difficulty, but there isn't much in the way to the StarCraft story as it is more building up the lore. Lots of that. Some Characters are there just to talk to but don't do anything until the end. Some do stuff in the beginning but are just tagged along you until the end where they are just standing their in your command area. Minor sure but Blizzard could have done more with them.
Now it may be that they are is more to the story and everything will make sense when the third part is released and I will realize how wrong I was. But I don't expect this entire 2nd Trilogy to even match the Original StartCraft game released in 1998.
On to the Multiplayer.....Amazing. I love how they re purposed some units and added new ones. I felt ripped off when they added some StarCraft 1 units back in.
But there are more everything in multiplayer.
Bottom Line, get this game if your into playing online against others. If your primary reason is to play Single Player games for stories, wait for a price drop but don't wait too long.
ALSO: Need to be online to play this game. Bummer. My Brother is currently being educated in abroad problems outside the US where internet access is very limited. He can't play this game at all.

Though I have not beaten the campaign YET, I am greatly enjoying the new units I can make and all the new strategies I am coming up with. I suggest anyone who got passed the whole "must be online" part of the previous title and and just loved the game for what it was to buy this.

It has all the things that made previous Starcraft a lot of fun but adds enough new stuff to keep it fresh. The zerg story is fun and adds a lot of customizeable elements that help tailor your units to your play style.

An expansion that builds on to an already amazing predecessor. Any fan of the RTS genre or StarCraft universe will immediately fall in love with this game. Single player will give you a plentiful amount of opportunities to interact with characters from the games missions and the amount of customization outside of missions in regards to unit management gives the player a real chance to make their army *their own* Multiplayer is endless in itself and with player created content this game will played for years to come.

I don't play star craft online so that part I can't review one but the singleplayer is fun and continues the fun story established by wings of liberty. I recommend it for people who enjoy strategy games with a good single player campaign.

The expansion adds a lot of new Zerg units that really expand the playing style. The only weak point would be the writing in the single player campaign. It's good, but not anything special.

The game is very good and it is interesting to play on the side that you spent so much time destroying during the first game....
My personal knock on games is that they are internet connection dependent... Not a bad thing as it makes things more dynamic, but even in the age of connectivity there are times when you just can't get a connection.

I enjoyed HOTS more than WOL overall. The unit upgrades and storyline developments were more interesting than they were in WOL. HOTS just isn't as challenging. Probably due to the wide range of accessible Zerg abilities and the strength of Kerrigan's almost ever-present character throughout the single player campaign.
