Starfield is an odd game. To me combat was much improved from other Bethesda titles and the main story was more interesting than typical- lots of Bethesda games shine with side quests more than anything. However the exploration definitely suffers from the copy and paste bases and the loading screens. I had fun with the game but it’s not perfect and your enjoyment depends on what you want out of it- if you just want an elf with fun combat it’s fine but if you want a lot of exploration ala Skyrim and Fallout this one is a step back.

Taken on its own, without Bethesda's history, Starfield is a decent game. It's ambitious, has wonderful art design, and is packed with gameplay. In light of Skyrim and Fallout 3 and 4, Starfield becomes ultimately disappointing.
That ambition translates into annoying loading screens, cumbersome clicking of planet icons for navigation, and walking across often-empty terrain. The game world just doesn't feel alive the way Skyrim or Fallout did thanks to these annoyances.
The gameplay ends up becoming repetitive. Not unlike the other aforementioned games to some degree, but the issue is that those games had the additional layer of exploration, each in one cohesive world as opposed to countless empty planets with the occasional copy/paste points of interest. Exploring felt natural and organic in those other games, here if feels gimmicky - ooh, 1,000 planets!
This could have easily been solved setting the game in a system with just 5 or 6 large and fully developed planets and leaving "off-world" for derelict spacecraft and space stations.
Bethesda has never been known for writing memorable, interesting characters and this is no different, though to its credit, the banter between characters and quest conversations are a huge step up from previous games.
The theme song is fantastic, though not much else in the soundtrack is very memorable, in contrast to the Elder Scrolls games.
If one keeps expectations in check and ignores that this is the first new IP from the developers of Skyrim and Fallout 3, it's a decent game. It has some potential and I would love it if it received a Cyberpunk 2077-like makeover and redemption, but until (and if) that happens, there are much more exciting games to play.

What you’d expect from a Bethesda game

Great game (if you’re a fan of Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls or Fallout series)! Yes, it has bugs just like the other Bethesda classics. There’s probably somewhere in the range of 40-50 planets that can be explored with cities and towns, outposts, etc. scattered throughout. That said, there isn’t an infinite number of planets like the former No Man’s Sky. . . Several branching mainline story quests, factions, etc.

Game lives up to Bethesda’s track record. Very intricate and complex game play. Interesting story (so far), and lots to keep you busy. Beautiful graphics, lighting, and sound. Looks amazing in 4k and with Dolby Atmos, you are totally immersed. Some of the environments leave something to be desired though in terms of exploration, when compared to Skyrim. Absolutely worth playing though.

I heard a rumor that they tested this game for over a year before releasing it. Shocked with how many glitches and problems it still had. Had to reinstall at one point because it would freeze up and sometimes still will shut off at random times. Can be fun when its working, but like most video games nowadays, it needs multiple updates before if could be great.

Classic Bethesda RPG. Never liked Skyrim, fallout 3 and above are AWESOME! All complaints are trying to compare Starfield to Skyrim! If you like trying to find all the stuff in lockers or weapons cases or whatever loot is in, this is the game for you!

Starfield is the best game ever made by Bethesda Game Studio. It’s basically Skyrim or Fallout 4 on space. It’s the most polished game the team has ever made, and the most advanced and best looking. I have my issues with it. The UI is just cumbersome at best and the true and tried gameplay is solid, but feels repetitive and boring sometimes. The game feels dated in that regard. I enjoy it, I do, but it could have been so much better. The planet exploration is boring, the worlds are empty and the maps are repetitive. There are over a thousand planets and they all feel the same because of that. When it works, its a fun game, but when it doesn’t, it gets really boring. If you liked Skyrim, Oblivion, or the newer Fallout games, hou will like this.

Why I Always Choose Best Buy Over GameStop”

Best Buy makes gaming and tech shopping easy and stress-free!
I always choose Best Buy for my gaming and tech needs because the experience is so much smoother compared to other places. For example, Starfield Standard Edition for Xbox Series X was the same price at GameStop, but I went with Best Buy — no pressure, no hassle, just grab and go. I appreciate that I can shop in peace without being pushed to buy extras I don’t need.

Not sure where to start with this game. It's a Bethesda rpg , if you hate Bethesda rpgs you won't love this one either. If you love Bethesda rpgs you'll be in heaven playing this. For me It's mt first Bethesda rpg but I love this genre and Cyberpunk (warts and all) is one of my favorite rpgs this generation.
This game is far more in depth than that game, instead of a single city you have multiple planets and star systems to visit. Each with many side quests and activities. Yeah you have the usual fetch quests, but there are so many more to discover a few that rival the main quest in how well done they are. You can be a space pirate, space cop , even space vigilante. You can engage in space combat and even board ships that you disabled , take out the surviving crew and take it for yourself.
-The space combat is all about managing your energy to different parts of your ship (example : You have to divide energy to different things like shields, lasers, engine, grave drive etc) while fighting. Once you get the hang of it and get better spaceships it gets really fun.
-The on foot shooting mechanics are really good as well, though I wish weapon switching was a bit more intuitive but it's not too cumbersome. The guns feel very good to use, very weighty when using heavier weapons. I haven't even gotten into certain abilities that you can use that open up combat in such a way that the player can experiment.
-There is quite a bit of loading. Getting on and off the ship and going into buildings. Only a few seconds but noticeable if that kind of things bother you.
-The menus can be a bit overwhelming for first time players, I wish they were a bit more streamlined this game has a lot of systems to learn.
You can build your own ships, you can build your own outposts on different planets, When building a ship you have to keep track of things like weight and mass, along with class when choosing the best parts for you ship. Not to mention different manufacturers who offer different performance depending on build.
Building an outpost is also something you will want to look into as it has many benefits to the player when it comes to experience and managing resources.
Basically this is the kind of game where the it's basically, the more you put into it the more you get out of it.
I'm just scratching the surface of this game, it will be a title played for years especially with mods but so far it's by far one of my favorite games this gen and will keep me busy for some time to come. If you love open world rpgs, "true rpg's" (as opposed to an action game with rpg elements) With elements of an immersive sim , then this game will definitely scratch that itch. Definite recommend.

No Man's Skyrim

I like it. It's a Bethesda game, so you like that or you don't. It is more like the Fallout series than the Elder Scrolls series. Lots of ground exploration, people to talk to, fun side quests, upgrades for your stuff. There are no long periods of flying through space, like in No Man's Sky or Elite: Dangerous, and this is not a galaxy populated by many races, like in Mass Effect. You do dogfight space pirates with your spaceship in orbit, but travel between worlds or from orbit to ground and vice versa is handled with cut-scenes.
If you want No Man's Skyrim, it's not perfect, but it's close.
