For those looking for a quality Blu-ray transfer of Stargate, the search can be a bit confusing. There have been several versions released but not all are truly an upgrade in quality. For true Stargate fans, I would recommend this one, the 15th anniversary release. It has both picture & sound upgrades that the film deserves & that truly improve viewing enjoyment! There are 2 versions of the film: original theatrical release & director’s cut; as well as a slew of special features. There was a 20th anniversary blu-Ray that was released, that for whatever reason was not as good as the 15th anniversary edition.

This Steelbook is amazing. Both sides of the Steelbook have a fantastic art. Great movie with real stakes of being trapped on another planet and saving the inhabitants from slavery. Plus this gave us 3 TV series of a total of 17 Seasons. The TV series really built on the concept and is a real fun time.

"Stargate" is a great Sci-Fi movie that explains how the worlds ancient cultures developed. A lot of scientific data is inter-woven into the plot of the movie to make the story line plausible. Lots of action scenes with great color and sound effects make this the one to own. The Stargate SG1 TV Series was spun-off of this movie.

This is an excellent movie. I would recommend this movie. The picture and sound quality is astounding. If you are a collector, this movie is a must for any collector , especially in steelbook format.

This is a classic movie made in the 90s. I watched it as soon as I got it and it's still good!!! (unlike some other 90s movies)

This is a great scifi story. I love the travel to distant lands and the interaction between completely different cultures while adding the lore of space travel and aliens.

I've been looking for some of my favorite movies on Steelbook. Came across Stargate online and with the Best Buy Rewards I couldn't pass this up.

This movie was great when it came out. It still is a great sci-fi story 25 years later. Blu Ray in your own living room still a great film.

I feel Stargate was a forgotten gem of the 1990s even though it spawned a TV series and many cult references throughout the years. It was great for it's time and many people can still enjoy it today

How can you beat James Spader, Kurt Russell, pyramids AND aliens?? Roland Emmerich's career is in big-budget action epics like INDEPENDENCE DAY, DAY AFTER TOMORROW & THE PATRIOT. Arguably, these are not fine films and not all of them are even good junk food. 1994's STARGATE, which spawned the popular TV series, is like a deluxe bag of Doritos. After all, few have tackled the whole "aliens built the pyramids" thing on a grand cinematic scale, but it DOES seem to be a magic ingredient to great moving pictures snack food. (What else...? The Michael Bay TRANSFORMERS series & ALIENS VS PREDATOR, I think...)

I have a 65" 3D TV, and while this is not in native 3 D, it is awesome when switched from 2D to 3D. A very clean transfer to Blue Ray -- sound effects solid. This movie spawned 4 really good TV series that I continue to watch over and over. Far better than watching WWW or GLOW events (Glamorous Ladies of Wrestling) which clog 4 of my 12 cable channels. So yes, I loved the move, and recommend it highly. Of course, I have watched Galaxy Quest 14 times, and while most of my friends think I am nuts (they're right) -- Stargate is a truly wonderful buddy movie!

Ever wondered what that Stargate TV show is all about? Well, here's the origin story. I liked this movie so much back in the day, that I saw it multiple times in the theatre. After all these years, I still love it. This blu-ray comes with both the Theatrical and Extended versions of the film. I can't decide what I like more. Perhaps the theatrical, because the extended version gives too much away at the beginning. It can be kind of scary for little ones, 12 and up should be fine. All in all, great movie!

Worthy of being in everyone's collection, this movie inspired an entire TV series. Though panned in many ways by critics, they often don't care what the public likes and like some exceedingly boring movies that people fall asleep during (ex. "Lincoln"). The outdoor scenes have especially good picture quality. There is one scene where the people are being attacked by the dominant alien fighters where for a moment you can see the wires that the fighter is hanging from but so it goes. Have been wanting the blueray of this for some time and finally got it.

The film that launched a massive franchise! But this is a film that loves it action and jaw dropping set pieces more than its story and characters. It's a lot of fun but can also feel like different genres all vying for your attention at times. You get the mystery, the action, the horror, the sci-fi and the adventure, all in one film. This shifts in tone feel odd at times. But still, it's hard not to enjoy the spectacle and epic adventure. For the price this Bluray is a steal! The image and sound are fantastic and there are a ton of great extras!
