While I adore this mouse, it has three major flaws (for me)... 1. Price - I'd be more enthusiastic if it were in thr $100 range. 2. It is not built the best to withstand even small drops. I bought one for me and the wife for MMO use. After returning one with a manufacturing defect, mine was knocked off my desk and hit a soft surface only to slide 2 ft into the floor. This caused the casing to collapse in on itself on the feet becoming unusable. Other mice, including the infamous Naga, has lasted longer and through harder falls. 3. Size - I dont have Kratos sized hands and the front two columns (1-6) are unusable for me. This is huge because to make it sit right where i can press those buttons i get extreme cramps after 2 hours of gameplay.

The mouse is awesome. I use it to game on my Macbook pro (yes I game on mac) and its so nice to have a mouse with working software that isnt logicrap. This mouse is light, comfortable and the battery lasts forever.

Great mouse but side buttons are a little awkward

Short version, Great response time so you can't even tell it is wireless. But side button layout is awkward and the mouse size is small. I got this mouse because I wanted to support Steelseries venture into MMO mice. The mouse I am used to is the Razer Naga Pro. The response time on the Aerox 9 has no lag, the cursor never gets stuck and the buttons respond with no lag as well. It uses a USB C receiver so the connection is fast. If you do not have a USB C port do not worry, it comes with an adapter (my desktop does not have a USB C port). Don't really notice the holes when using it, mouse feels fine in my hand. I charge it overnight and used it for several gaming sessions that were 5-8 hours so I had no issues with the battery. If you want to know about saving layouts for lighting and buttons, everything can be configured in the Steelseries software. Make an account and then you can access your layouts on other computers. This is helpful if you game on your desktop, but also have a laptop that you game on when you need to travel. The biggest issue are the side buttons, they are rather large compared to the Razer Naga and stick out pretty far from the mouse. Due to the blocky buttons it is easy to accidentally click the wrong button because your finger slides down. I also noticed when my hands are a little sweaty my fingers would slide to other buttons a lot. This is something that I never experienced with the Razer Naga. The large buttons can be awkward to hit as well if you have small hands. I need to do a different grip for this mouse in order to hit the 1 2 3 buttons comfortably. Another downside is the mouse is rather small so your pinky finger kinda hangs off and touches your desk. If you look at some other mice they are wider on the right side for your pinky to rest on. I think if the buttons did not stick out so much, and were a little smaller, and the right side of the mouse was a bit wider it would be the perfect mouse. I would say feel the mouse for yourself and see if you like it, as everyone's personal preferences are different. If you have not used a 12 button mouse before you may like it, since you have no prior experiences to compare it to. Wanted to leave this review to hopefully see an improved version of this mouse in the future.

I wanted to like this mouse. Its super lightweight and has the mmo side buttons i wanted. The mouse scroll wheel is just awful. Ive been fighting it for two years and now it just doesnt work. From what I've read online, its something with the sensor. I wanted to open the mouse up but didnt have the proper tools. Ontop of the scroll wheel just not working, a huge pain point is the mouse turns off automatically. This is to save power but its consistency with turning back on is awful. Sometimes it will be within 10 seconds, others its two minutes. It drives me crazy. Everything about the mouse I love. I can get over the auto power off but the scroll wheel just not working doesn't make this mouse viable for me. I still own it as a wireless mouse but it sits in a drawer as i had to replace it.

Amazing at how light this mouse is and how easy it is to configure. Over all a great purchase. However I don't like the software. It's fast and snappy just don't like how it naturally keeps trying to download and dance video clips even though it never asks you.

This is perfect, down to the build and quality, the buttons feel nice and the mouse is nice and lightweight. The only minor thing that I don't like is the shape of the mouse as it doesn't fit in my hand comfortably to my liking.

Wonderful MMO gaming mouse. Can be used wired or wireless with the dongle or Bluetooth. I've not noticed any lag in any configuration. Like others have said the side 1-3 buttons can be a bit hard to reach but, this is due to the size of the buttons. Any smaller and you would accidentally click two or three buttons at once. So they balanced both problems into minor issues instead of creating one major issue either way. With a bit of practice clicking those buttons becomes second nature. The mouse is very light, seemingly very durable and well built, and extremally responsive. Everything it should be. The only other issue would be the cost but in the end it is worth the price.

I have been a MMORPG player, my whole entire life I have used just about every optical gaming mouse you could think of after I started using wireless devices I got used to the freedom of the cord! This mouse Takes the cake, first impressions were great with steel series program on windows being easy to update and customize my experience. Battery life was impressive after reaching 100% I only lost 5 % while gaming for 4-5 hours, I did adjust my settings to lower the lighting brightness as you really don’t see the led lights since you are playing games and hand covering the majority of the device. Still had great look as I walked back and forth from the desk! Not to mention the ergonomics of the airy feel with no solid plastic covering on the hands, a bit of a sweaty gamer lol. Great in all sorts of aspects will give this a great review and a must buy for gamers like myself !

SteelSeries Aerox 9 vs Razer Naga Pro

Let me start with saying there are only 2 brand name mice with this number of buttons in a wireless format. Razer Naga Pro and this SteelSeries Aerox 9. I have been using the Razer Naga Pro and while it worked without issues it always felt like cheap plastic. So when the Aerox came out I decided to try it out. The Aerox feels like it is made with better material and overall I prefer it to the Razer. With that said there are some things you should know if you are trying to decide which mouse to buy. The side buttons on the Aerox are very much more forward than the Razer. This means for the front most buttons this will be a stretch for most users. It took some getting use to but for me I find a way to reach them without issue but it took some getting use to. I will also say that the button layout on the Razer is easier to feel where your thumb is at compared to the Aerox. With all that said I still prefer the Aerox feel in my hand over the Razer. Also I am using an MSI Raider GE76 laptop so it is nice to have the same brand in my mouse as my laptop RGB components. The big negative that I have that is making this review 4 stars is that my first Aerox mouse had connection issues. Sometimes when I had been away for a while the mouse would not connect back up and I would have to turn it off and/or remove the receiver dongle and plug it back in. And eventually it got to the point where the mouse never connected. This happened within a couple weeks of getting the mouse so I exchanged it at Best Buy for a new one and will see how this one works. If not for that I would have given it 5 stars as once again for me this mouse just feels better in my hand compared to the Razer.

I bought this because of how many buttons it has and it is SteelSeries. I love the lightweight, desgin, and SteelSeries easy to use engine. What I don't like is the fact that the mouse will all of sudden disconnect and will take forever to reconnect and will do this in the middle of gaming. Sometimes, I have to connect the mouse to the USB cord just to get it to connect. Ubisoft Connect launches faster than this mouse connects. After this, I might switch to a different brand because I have also had issue with their headset.

Very lightweight. If you don't have a lot of hand strength, it's a nice mouse to use. The buttons on the left were initially hard to press, but they became easier to press after a few days. This is a good mouse for a gamer, but also for disabled folks who can macro things to the side buttons to make tasks easier on a computer.

I was hoping this was the mouse to end all mice

I thought this would be my final mouse. The one that ticked every box. It has a shape and weight that is great for any game AND ample side buttons to customize any way you'd want for programs like Blender. I'd never seen a mouse like it and I was so hopeful. Pros - Lightweight - The shape is great (think Rival 5 but slightly lower profile and a tiny bit narrower) - High quality build - It looks great - USB-C & battery life - Steelseries software is easy to use Cons - The side buttons require way too much force to actuate. I ended up causing pain in my my ring finger over time while bracing the mouse so I could press the thumb buttons. For comparison, the Razer Naga X side buttons are much easier to press. - The front 3 side buttons are way out of reach. I have medium/large hands and I had to give up on ever reaching those comfortably. Conclusion Go for the Aerox 5 instead. The mouse shape and quality is great, but SteelSeries totally missed the mark on the Aerox 9. The side buttons killed it.

Ive had this mouse for 6 months, its been pretty good, responsive, steelseries has great software but i have 2 main issues, number one the battery life is nothing special but it does alright and you can still play while it charges. Ive had 0 issues for 6 months actually, until now. Last night I got off went to be zero issues, i come home today and now my scroll wheel just doesnt work, ive tried all their support tricks, uninstalling reinstalling drivers, and software, and restarting pc. Ive done basically every trick except taking the mouse apart. Plus if you do want to take it apart to fix it, you have to rip off the skid pads which are basically unusable if you bend them in anyway and you need glue to get it back on. Overall it was cool while it lasted but for a 150$ mouse to go bad in 6 months, honestly should be giving it less stars.

Lightweight, and the open back helps your hand breath. This is a BIG mouse though. I have a big hand and it's a little hard to reach the 2 and 3 buttons due to the angle they are at on the device and how forward they are. I have to hold the mouse at a little bit of an angle compared to how I normally do to comfortably reach all the buttons.

Functionality wise it’s amazing. Never fails me, battery life is amazing. Honestly the build quality could be better. The mouse clicks and center button/scroll wheel start wearing out very fast. It works well but everything about it feels cheap when the mouse is anything but.

I have owned just about every mmo mouse on the market over the years from logitech, to razer nagas, which have gone way down hill in terms of quality in recent years, to corsair scmitars. This steel series mouse is hands down the best mouse ive ever laid my hands on. The responsiveness and light weight of it is extraordinary amd gives a precision in gaming I've never felt before. Higly recommend for mmo and all gamers in general who like to button map.
