Pro: Steelseries software adds about 25 percent functionality. The cans are 40's, but the driver does a good job with them. Very comfortable headset for Mr. Tomato head. DTS surround is as expected with the 40's. It's another set of 10r's for better. There's a sharing port. Con: Headband is manually adjustable, so wearing a hat or not makes a difference. Sound stage is in close.

First off there not as easy as plug n play you have to download a program and update them which was kind of annoying and after a couple weeks they started to echo, easy call don't use for Xbox.

Great sound. Not easy to set up and it was very tight on my head. Replaced it with a different brand. May work great for others, didn’t work for me.

Pros and Cons review (For PC!)

This will be my in depth pros and cons review for the steelseries Arctis 5 gaming headset. We will go over the glowing pros and existing cons in this headset. Before we begin I would like to add this note that I went from a 300 dollar headset, being the astro a50, to this headset. I honestly feel like I upgraded, and you will see why in this pros and cons review. Pros: Comfort - THIS is the single most glowing positive in this headset. The Astro a50 headset I previously owned actually left a dent on my head where the headband was. This was because 1) The headband was thin, 2) The headband was not plush, and 3) the headband was not evenly distributing weight on my head. I mean this seriously when I say this is the single most comfortable headset I have worn, ONLY because of the headband. The patented air circulating earcups are wonderful, but the headband on this headset is something to praise. It will distribute the weight of the headset perfectly on your head and actually give you a desire to wear the headset, rather than the desire to take it off. Sound - It was tough for this 100 dollar headset to compare to my previous 300 dollar headset. I will admit it is not as loud as the Astro a50 would get, but the Astro a50 would reach a volume point where you'd have to be deaf to need that kind of volume. I was very impressed with the sound quality of this headset especially when coming from a 300 dollar headset. The bass is not as booming, but enough for the everyday gamer or music head. The speakers are actually ingeniously designed with a bulge to face toward your ears when wearing the headset, this is something steelseries doesn't mention but I appreciate this detail. Setup - Not much to say here, this headset is very easy to set up with a simple USB port to plug to the chat volume mixer, which then has a cable that plugs into your headset. (Yes the cable is removable from the headset which is perfect for travel). Software - Although the headset is plug and play, you will be missing out on a lot when you opt to not get the steelseries engine software. This software is one of the best I've seen across the gaming market, (And I use razer software for my other peripherals). In this software you can control the lightning in many ways, like breathe speed, colors, patterns, and more. You can control how much background noise the mic will eliminate, and there is even an Equalizer in the software for those who would like to fine tune their sound. In this software you will find a special add on labeled 'Gamesense' Where the lighting on your headset will react to certain things in the game you are playing. (For example, you can set the lighting to display your health in CS:GO). Of course, this is just a fun thing steelseries has added and served no real efficient use, unless you have a mirror pointed at you at all times I guess. Chat Volume mixer - Again, I did own the Astro a50 headset before this one and I must say having a physical volume wheel instead of pressing buttons on the earcups is a huge difference. The mixer works great and is easy to use, it is especially handy when there are explosives going off in your game and your friend is trying to tell you something important. The microphone - This headsets microphone greatly exceeded my expectations. I don't like to talk about microphones too much because the sound card on your computer will be the more deciding factor on your voice quality. Overall design - This is just my opinion here, but i love the fact that steelseries kept this headset simple, sleek, and very elegant. The headset itself contains a smooth rubber feel to the touch, and the lighting on this headset is not too much and not too little. Props to the design team on this headset, they did a great job. Cons: Mic mute light - This is the biggest con I could find personally, although it may only effect a certain group of people, specifically those who wear glasses. The mic shines a very bright red light when muted that can get extremely distracting unless you detract it back into its earcup. With glasses on, the glare is almost unbearable from this bright red light. I do wish this light was dim-able or disable-able. Retractable mic - I am one that prefers flip up mics mostly because of its ease of use and they usually come with a great mute when flipped up feature. The mic on this headset does not go back into its earcup easy, and will push the left earcup off your ear if you try to place it back inside without backward support. So you do need 2 hands to detract the microphone, which wouldn't be so bad for me if it wasn't for that mic mute light I mentioned earlier. Rubber cable - This is more whining than anything else, but I was surprised to see steelseries not opt for a braided cable for this headset. I can only assume they wanted to keep the headset at its 100 dollar price point. You will get rubber cables on this headset. Conclusion: I absolutely love this headset, and the cons mentioned in this review can be easily overlooked. I would definitely reccomend this product to anyone, it is very comfortable, sounds great, and has a very reasonable price tag. Pick this headset up, I don't think you will regret it. If you want, you can just impress your friends with the cool lighting effects. I am very pleased with my purchase and will be upgrading to the Arctis 7 wireless when it is released at Best buy. (At the time of this review, the Arctis 7 was not yet released on Best buy). I hope this review helped you in your decision on purchasing this headset, thank you and have a good one!

    Cant find an issue

I have owned several different headsets before this one, all high quality. I was currently using AudioTechnica m40x's for audio and a standalone mic. I wanted to get a headset since my standalone mic was getting in the way of typing. After digging through specs and prices I was really interested in how the arctis series would turn out and I must say I am amazed. The audio quality is near studio specs and sounds amazing. The mic is mid range quality but still way better than what you would get in a normal headset. what sets it apart is the ability of the mic to separate your voice from the background. i have a lot going on in the room i am using these in most of the time and no one on the other end ever notices other sounds, they also say the quality drop from a hq standalone is barely noticeable for anything aside from recording. The game-chat volume mixer is absolutely genius. if you play games where you need to listen closely at times this is an incredibly useful feature to be able to turn down your friends while you pay closer attention to the game. All of that on top of it being the most comfortable and lightweight headsets with remarkable build quality I have ever felt is just amazing. I would 100% recommend this to anyone even considering a headset.

    1st gaming headset I wanted

...And it did not disappoint. For starters, the form-follows-function design factor. Combined with a retractable, I can use it everywhere without feeling like an idiot. I use glasses, so the materials and over ear construction was really important for me. I don't really notice if I use glasses or not with it. 2ndly, the audio quality is as good as advertised, and lastly, the noise isolating microphone actually works. I don't know why gaming companies do so many gimmicks with their headsets, but I'm happy there's finally 1 that's just simple and good at the important stuff.

Just bought this headset over the weekend, and it hasn't left my head much. It's soooo comfy that I forget I'm wearing it most of the time. The sound is great, super detailed. I've been playing Witcher 3, and the music and all the SFX are just so clear. I made some recordings with the microphone, and it's crazy how much better it sounds than my old HyperX Cloud. Definitely well worth the money.

After searching for a comfortable headset, I finally found the Arctis series. They rest upon your head and fit well, but also remain very lightweight. Overall I highly recommend these. Pros: 1. Comfort 2. Sound 3. Fit and finish 4. Price Cons: 1. Software was buggy in my case 2. Not a fan of the sound dial. Sometimes I accidentally turn it and can't hear the game or my team.

Not what is advertized for CONSOLES

This headset is very cool. RGB lighting is awesome and does not mess up focus or shine in your face. The way you can edit the features of the mic on my computer is awesome as well. The microphone is cool and works well and the headset is extremely comfortable and light. I can barely feel it when I am wearing it. The main problem with this headset is the amount of volume you get on consoles. After playing Xbox one for a while I decided to get a ps4 as well. On xbox I used the Astro a40s and after using these on ps4 they sound extremely low. Can not hear enemy footsteps clearly AT ALL. If you are looking for a headset with a big brand name for xbox or ps4 this is not your headset. THERE IS NO 7.1 SURROUND SOUND FOR CONSOLES!!! The 7.1 surround sound only works on the PC when playing games such as H1Z1 or League of Legends. On console, these speakers are very low and also they just do not produce that good of a sound for $100. If you are a beginning gamer and just want a decent headset these would be a good option. If you are a competitive gamer playing for money, I would not recommend these to you.

They're not that bad as far as headphones go. They're comfortable because of the elastic strap, and the cushions over the ears are nice. The right RBG light will randomly stop working, and sometimes the left will stop as well, even though there is sound. The sound gets pretty loud, but max volume could be a bit higher. I've only used this on my PC so I can't say how it is on consoles. The microphone is good enough quality, as is the actual quality of the sounds from the headphones. Overall, they're good but I feel like there are probably better headphones out there for $99.

As soon as I saw that these had released, I purchased them. I was already in the market for a new headset and these really attracted me. The sound is very full and even all the way across. Not too much bass or treble. These speakers are the same speakers that are in Steelseries $300+ headphones. Microphone is the best built in mic I've used. I'll take these over Clouds every day.

SteelSeries products have a great build quality, and the Arctis 5 is no exception. They fit comfortably and the software engine allows for a lot of presets and customization. My main issue is the use of a 8 pin micro USB cable, rather than something more standard. If the cable gets damaged, good luck getting a replacement. They seem to be on perpetual back order on their website. That said....I still really like this headset and their products in general.

I bought this hoping it could outclass a set of LucidSound LS30s, but not quite as good. I used these with both the Xbox One and my PC. Comfort I'd give. 7/10. Definitely for larger sized heads. Sat very loosely on my head. Sound was good and I'd rate it at about a 7. Not fantastic, but not the best. Build quality was better than your average gamer headset, but not nearly as good as the LS30s. I understand this is a $100 headset, but overall I was not impressed enough to keep these. If you're looking for something that sounds great, full featured, includes wireless, works across all platforms, and has fantastic build quality, pay the $150 for the LS30s, trust me you won't be disappointed. I might also add that although these do have a more subdued gamer appearance, they still look like something a kid would sport and that's ok if you're into that.

The game/voice balance dial is good in thought, but not in practice. It tends to get bumped and jostled. If it had a locking mechanism, that would fix this problem easily. Simply pull, rotate and push to lock in place. The mute button is in a ridiculously hard to reach place, its a small button behind the left ear. The microphone also doesn't get out of the way easily. I like the ones you can just swing out and then swing back into place. It also doesn't auto-mute when pushed out of the way. With that being said this is the lightest headset I've ever owned. It does get a little uncomfortable if I wear them for a few hours, but that just tells me I need to take a break. The sound is superb, and everything sounds like where its supposed to be.

I purchased 2 of these headsets. One for me and one for my brother from Christmas. I decided to test mine to make sure I wasn't gifting garbage. I usually join parties through the Xbox Pc app with my Cosair Void headset. Needless to say Im outrageously dissapointed. The headset makes a static crackling sound every time someone talks. And above all my friends hear themselves echoing through my headset no matter what settings and volume I have it at. This headset is comfortable though and has decent game sound but other than that is its just another bad purchase. Im returning them asap in hopes to get something thats better for xbox one.
