I’ve tested out a lot of headsets the Hyper Cloud II’s, Arctis 3, 5, 9X, Plantronics Rig 800’s, Astro A40 w/M80, and the Astro A50’s. The 9X is the best sounding headset you can buy! They’re even better than the A50’s! They’re crystal clear, and their sound has so much depth. You feel the experience in your ears. Sound direction is top notch! Playing COD you can tell the exact location of footsteps and how far away they’re when you active Dolby Atmos (have to buy separate). I have a large head and I thought they were pretty comfortable. I never got too hot wearing them, and the elastic headband makes a difference.
With all that said they would easily be rated at 5 stars, but... They have connection issues, battery issues and mic issues. They might sound great your first couple of days but wait. They will fall apart on you. A friend and I bought a pair each at the same time. I went through one set and he went through three. My set started cutting out during game play as if the headset had lag, the sound would pop and crack. Did everything from re-pairing them to my Xbox to turning them off and on again. Nothing worked. My friends first headset did the same thing, his second just stopped working and the mic failed on his third set.
They sound great if you can get them to last. If you decide to roll the dice make sure to get the extra warranty that Best Buy offers.
I returned mine for the A50’s, they don’t sound as good but I don’t have any issues with them.

The sound is amazing in this headset ive had it for a little over two years its still going strong built well very sturdy. Reallly good highs and crisp sound only thing it lacks is a good deep strong bass even playing with the eq settings in the steel series app still wasnt enough to pull the bass out and make it immersive. Only issue ive had with this headset is random disconnects every now and then which can be frustrating other than that its been pretty good.

The comfort and feel of them is great. Probably the most comfortable headset I've tried. The sound quality was excellent. And the mic is clear and crisp.
Knowing whether they are charged or not is not intuitive. A proper indicator could be done better.
Not sure if it's a battery issue or not, but they lose connection regularly when playing Fortnite. The mic will cut out or the team will cut out. There are strange and complicated workarounds that temporarily fix it. But they don't last.
It could be an issue with the game. But since we bought them specifically to play Fortnite, they sadly did not fulfill our needs. Which is unfortunate as they are wonderful in every other way.

I've used top-end Turtle Beach sets for forever (I've gone through four of them over the years), but I am converted. Every TB headset eventually physically falls apart (like the Elites this unit is replacing), most often from the physical stress that donning and doffing a headset puts on the plastic sliders for the earcups. Then you have to apply duct tape to keep your very expensive headset from literally falling apart. The 9X design is obviously not going to have that problem. Instead of the earcups being on sliders to get the fit right, the cups are in fixed positions on a heavy-gauge leaf spring that gives the headset its shape and applies good pressure to the cups. You then adjust an elastic headband to get the fit you want. I was skeptical until I tried it.
The surround effect is better than TB's, IMHO. It is much more obvious where the sound is coming from. I no longer hear someone behind me but wonder if they are left or right like I did with my TB's. The directionality is much better in this set.
I could take or leave the boom mic, but the red light on the mic when I'm muted is a great feature. It is out of the way, but it's also immediately obvious with just a glance if I'm muted or not. The mic is much more sensitive than the TB condenser mic, so I've had to turn down the sensitivity a lot to keep room noise out during the day. In the photo the mic is retracted. You can leave it in that position or extend it up to about 4" and then adjust the position precisely if you so choose.
Noise cancellation does not seem to be an option, but given that I can hear where someone is much better with the 9X's drivers and surround implementation, I'll take it.
Controls are a little different than TB. Instead of a plethora of push buttons and settings, the 9X has two wheels (one for balance between voice and game sound and one for total volume), a mute button, a power button, and a Bluetooth pairing button. I don't like the wheels as donning and doffing the headset almost always means I'll move one of the wheels, and then I'm in for an adjustment. In addition to the light on the boom mic indicating that the mic is muted, the mute button is oversized and tactile, so you can feel it to tell if you are muted or not.
The TB's have a lot of sound options that you don't get with the 9X's, numerous modes, etc. This is not that, but again, the main reason for spending a pile on a headset is to use the sound to make better decisions in the game. This set exceeds my TB's for that.
There is no base station, unlike the TB's. The headset pairs using the same RF as your game controllers. That means one fewer thing sitting somewhere, and it also means that when you plug the headset in, it is absolutely charging (and yes, like the TB's, there's a light telling you that). Anyone who has used TB's Elites will tell you stories about times when they thought their headset was charged, but it was not because somehow the setup had gotten jarred a wee bit, enough that it lost contact, but the lights didn't warn you of that.

I bought the identical pair for my son a while back and he hadnt had any issues so I figured id give them a try too. The sound quality is good dont get me wrong. The issue is the sound volume, its not very loud. Build quailty is great and theybsit nice and comfy in m big head. No weird static or tic’s in the background which was nice. Just dont walk to far away, maybe 20 feet..

The sound from this headset is great, but I have had connection problems. I've had it not connect once, and had to repair it. Another time it lost connection but reconnected after powering off and repowering on. Really like the light on the boom of the mic that turns red when the mic is muted. I do like this headset a lot, but due to the connection interruptions, I have to bring down the rating. IF there were no interruptions it would be superb. Because of that, I feel they are overpriced.

I love this headset, sound quality is great, I play a lot of Battle royale and what not, hear footsteps perfectly and know where they are coming from no issues, battery definitely last 20 hours or around that and I use mine constantly, I have no connection issues at all and my router and laptop and phone and so on are all right next to me and in the same room, out of the 4 options for sound modes the first original mode is best, if you want more options get Dolby atmos which I felt there was no need to do personally, there also I believe is a way to toggle them online too? But I do not know as I have not tried to mess with them and think the way they came is fine for me. The guns going off in game and explosions at full volume in the headset is too much for my ears and I have to turn it down some so it is definitely loud! Overall I like this headset a lot, Bluetooth works fine, I’ve played music From my phone while playing games and no issues, I’ve taken calls with this headset and the sound and voice are fine, people also said I sound a lot better in game chat as well upgrading from basic headsets. I’ve left my phone in one room and walked into the kitchen and never lost signal on Bluetooth, also never lost signal with my Xbox walking to the kitchen or into another room. Last thing.... They are very comfortable as well I literally do wear them for 5-6 hours straight and don’t even realize.

If you'd asked me to review this shortly after I bought it I would have been far less generous with my score.
If you've read other reviews by people here and on other websites you know that some people have been reporting problems with audio cutting out when connected to the Xbox. I have to say I should have listened to those reviews.
For the first day or so, the headset was great. It sounds amazing and the battery life is phenomenal. It connects to the Xbox like a controller. The next day the problems started. I almost returned the unit. It crackles and pops like someone's got bubble wrap in your ear and that's putting it lightly. It's bad enough to be nauseating at times.
Steelseries recommends all kinds of things to alleviate the problem, some practical(move farther from your router), some ridiculous(disconnect the external hard drive you're trying to play games from.) One said I should move closer to my Xbox and I tried that but I'm already like 4ft from it, tops. The solution turned out to be I had to move farther from the Xbox, and it's been fine since.
Your mileage may vary. Don't discount the reviews talking about audio drop outs like I did. If anything, those reviews undersell the severity of the issue. I got my unit working (so far, so good) but you may not.
Because of these issues, I've rated the "Quality, Value, and Ease of Use" of the item lower than it should be. If you get a working unit, it would be 5/5, but working units seem to be rare, based on the reviews I've seen.

Pros: Great sound, works seamlessly w/ the Xbox One X, and most importantly it is comfortable to wear w/ my glasses.
Cons: 50/50 shot the headset will not work as advertised, media controls are not intuitive (outside of volume and mix), & the user manual is almost useless.
I bought my 1st Arctis 9x and connected it to my phone straight out of the box. Not even 5 minutes into listening to music on Spotify, the sound stopped. I turned it off and back on, and ran into the same issue after a couple minutes of listening to music. I contacted SteelSeries' tech support, and they had me hit the reset button hidden under the right ear cup. Believe it or not, this made the problem even worse - I could only get 30 seconds max out of the bluetooth before it disconnected. The tech support team advised me to replace the headset at this point which is exactly what I did.
My wife's first reaction was "Those look great because they don't look like your [Turtle Beach] headphones". She likes how these are very discreet unlike a lot of other brands. Visually, that has to be my favorite feature as well. The retractable mic is another good feature that makes the headset look like something you could (almost) walk down the street without anyone realizing you're wearing a gaming headset. I wear glasses, and can attest to wearing this headset all day while working for calls/music and not having my ears hurt as much as with other headsets. The sound quality is amazing. Footsteps galore, and you really can judge distance by sounds with these things. Music playback is top notch too, but they're no match for high-end music focused headphones. I've had zero issues with chat or other interference.
If they were able to fix the quality control issues these would be a 5 star, but since you're playing headset roulette with these things I have to give them a 3/5. If you don't mind having to return a defective pair at least one time, this is the headset for you.

Headphones are comfortable even in long gaming sessions.and easy to use once you get used to where the buttons are and on the cups.
Issue are that they have periodically loss of connection to the Xbox Series X console. Can be annoying as it can happen a few times in a minute and then work flawless for hours. It’s obvious a issue for quite a while with the headset.
When there working sound is crisp and has nice positional sound to them.Bass is good and mid range are as well.Great headset if they’d like iron out there could connection issue would go up another star

Been using these since March 2020 so nearly 4 years now. Sound is good, fit is very comfortable & not too heavy on the top of your head. Ear pieces are comfortable as well. Can wear for hours without discomfort. Nothing is loose on them and as far as I can tell, it seems they will last much longer. Very happy with my purchase.

I love this headset. Yes you going to spend more then your turtle beach, but the difference is amazing. Sound quality is on point with this. Battery life is amazing. No lag and no sporadic drops in connection. They are comfortable enough to wear hours on end. Plus I can use them with any Bluetooth device. Look your going to spend 140 on a stealth 700 headset and for the 60 more you get at least double the product.

I bought this headset as an upgrade to what I have, because I have the Arctis 7 that headset is awesome because I can use that for my PlayStation, PC and Xbox, but the main reason for buying this one is because when using the 7 on Xbox it is wired which would drive me crazy because the cord would unplug constantly. So I looked into this headset, once I got it, it literally took 2 seconds to sync to my Xbox and to my phone (which is a huge plus) the fact that I’m able to play games on my Xbox and play music or YouTube at the same time is a Great value! The I have compares the mic to older mics (ie arctis 7, Turtle Beach elite 800x, etc) the mic is clear and pretty much sounds like you in the same room. Also the Sound Quality is fantastic as well if you are curious about the arctis 7 vs 9x it is a great improvement.
Cons about this headset,
The difference for the standard, bass boost, and other EQ is meh at best. I have just stuck with the standard.
The battery life is great, I would make sure to charge at the end of your usage because the charging cable is about 4 or 5ft long (which isn’t to terrible but still kind sucks if you are gaming)
This is an Xbox specific headset so if you want an all around use headset don’t go for this one.
Overall I highly recommend this headset for any Xbox user especially someone playing on the series x/s because these are Bluetooth, and the new gen doesn’t have an optical port. I agree with SteelSeries when they say that this is the best headset for Xbox.

Incredible sound quality and took literally seconds to pair and learn how to use. I’ve owned countless headsets over the past 15+ years gaming but as a father of two kids now, (8 yr old and 4 mo old) having everything wireless makes my life so much easier. No more snagging my headset wire on my chair or desk and watching my Xbox Elite controller slam into the ground as paddles and sticks explode into Narnia. SteelSeries may not be the only ones doing wireless compatibility but the quality and comfort to go with 20+ hours of battery life with Bluetooth seems to be well worth the price tag so far.

I tried the HyperX Cloud II Pro Wired w/7.1 (returned them) and then the SteelSeries Arctis 7 (returned them) and finally decided on the Arctis 9x. The Cloud II and Arctis 7 worked wired plugged into the PS4 and Xbox one controllers, but after using both I wanted wireless and realized I use my Xbox more. The 9X sounds good and is comfortable. Pairs with my Xbox the same way you pair a wireless controller. Downside: they are expensive!

Sound is excellent, especially with Dolby Atmos. Being able to listen to music while playing using my phone connected via Bluetooth is a premium feature for me. Mic is ultra clear and doesn’t pick up sound from the headset even when on max volume. Fit is great for me. I never experience discomfort, even when gaming for hours on end. Battery life is solid and they’ve never died on me while gaming.

The headset overall is amazing, extremely comfortable with someone who has a big head and wears glasses, audio is crispy clean and the headset design is nice. The main problem is the fact that the headset can disconnect if their is multiple Bluetooth devices in the area or if people are using 2.4ghz internet and you are using 5ghz. Of course this may vary but on multiple websites people were saying that might be the issue. If you live in by yourself or people are rarely at your house i recommend buying it.

Disconnects all the time - firmware doesn’t fix

I really wanted to like this headset. I read reviews warning me about the disconnects and audio cutout. The sound is amazing, Bluetooth connectivity with phone is perfect and its very comfortable. However that will mean nothing when you are constantly having to reset it and it loses connection to your Xbox. It’s not interference, its not because of battery, and it’s not because I’m not close enough to the Xbox. It’s simply because SteelSeries refuses to acknowledge the problem and the firmware updates over the last 2 years didn’t fix it. I’m not alone with this problem. Needless to say my 2 years of putting up with this headset was enough. I ended up tossing it in the garbage after a gaming session where I lost connection 9 times over the course of 1 hour. I switched to the Xbox wireless headset for half the price and have been MUCH happier. All this same functionality and it never loses connection. Shame on SteelSeries for not acknowledging and addressing the problem after YEARS of selling this product.

Bought for PC and phone usage since this model had Bluetooth. Needed a quick google search to fix my PC settings to correct a sound delay issue (PC driver issue, not issue with headset). Otherwise great headset, sound is good and battery life is excellent. Build quality is top notch, the ski goggle style headband is much lighter than my previous HyperX headset with padding. Only issue is it does get a bit warm after awhile in the ear cups.

Must say i was quite conflicted between the reviews and YouTube videos about this headset.
First this is first, these headphones are great, Amazing sound quality and comfortability. I use to rock the afterglow headset for a few years which i considered to have the best bass and quality for its price of $75 at the time.
The reason so many people have connection problems is probably based on the amount of Bluetooth connections in their current home. Another thing these headsets don’t have the best range. I found out that being farther than 6-8ft away from your Xbox, wifi router/modem will affect the connection and start stuttering.
Personally the way my set up is, the Xbox and my wifi are no longer than 3 feet apart near the monitor and I’m seated about 4ft away from everything else. That being said I’ve had had “ZERO” connection problems/sound shuddering. But the farther i move or go from the room to room I’ll notice how terrible the range is.
With all that being said, your gaming setup including your wifi router should be in range of 8ft and closer. Don’t be sitting a on a couch with your Xbox at the end of the room and expect it to work flawlessly.
