Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Rival 300's comfort, RGB lighting, and size, citing its excellent responsiveness and accuracy. Many appreciate the mouse's weight and the ease of use of its software, along with its reasonable price. However, some users noted that the cable could be improved, and a few expressed minor concerns about the buttons and scroll wheel. Overall, the positive feedback on the Rival 300's performance and features outweighs the relatively few negative comments.

I have this mouse for over a month already and honest I'm loving it. Nice feel that is easy to grip. Perfect placement of buttons which was a big deal for me as I don't like some mice with weird button positioning. Mouse is on the bigger side so if u like to claw hold this is not for you. Lights look good and many colors to choose from. Dpi button really helps to change sensitivity on one touch and u can program the sensitivity too. Overall I'm very happy with the mouse. If you buy this I recommend picking to also pick up the QCK mouse pad from steel series as well.

Coming from the Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0, I'm very accustomed to using a rather large mouse. Unfortunately, most mice are rather small these days and it's difficult to find one with a similar shape and a centered optical sensor for under $60. The Steel Series Rival hit all those marks though. You can also download a program from the manufacturer's website that allows you to customize the sensitivity, buttons, and light on the mouse as well as having secondary settings that can be switched between by pressing the button just below the wheel. Just two minor negatives: The texture of the rubber on the sides isn't exactly to my liking, but it's a minor issue and will probably wear down over time anyway. Also, the mouse wheel feels stiff and it made browsing online a bit difficult until I installed an add-on that allowed for more accelerated scrolling.

I use this mouse for playing battlefield 4 and it works really great. The mouse is quite big that is perfectly fit for my hand. Also, this mouse has high dpi and you can also change the color of the illumination with any color. Great mouse ! Love it!

This mouse is very comfortable to use, has a wide range of selectable cpi settings to allow for greater or lower sensitivity. It even allows the style to be customized with different illumination zones that can be set to any color.

This mouse has been a godsend, as I was previously using a Logitech G602 wireless mouse with a worse sensor. The driver software is pretty cool, and being able to give the LEDs different colors is awesome. Really a solid mouse.

The sensor is very accurate and you can customize the glow on the mouse too. It's solid and has a nice feel to it. It's comfortable to use for hours and you can customize it further with the SteelSeries software.

What can I say, this mouse is awesome. The sensor is fantastic, and it is easy to jitter click. Great grip in my hand, and the color of the LEDs can be changed easily in Steelseries Engine 3.0. Excellent mouse!

SS Rival v DeathAdder v Proteus Core If you're an avid gamer, your favored mouse will always come down to preference... preference between 3 mice; Razer's Death Adder, Steel Series' Rival and Logitech's Proteus Core. Personally, I use all three but by far my Rival gets the most love especially for Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

In search of a more reliable mouse for gaming, I left the realm of bluetooth and wireless mice for one for a cord and a better fit for my hand. The result of my search was the Steel Series Rival Gaming Mouse. It fit all of my requirements and fulfilled my needs perfectly. The shape of the mouse, for one, is perfect for my hands which are slightly larger than most. Having the two extra buttons near the thumb is a plus, but what really helps is how they stay out of the way when you don't intend to use them. I've yet to hit one accidentally, and they are handy for game controls that fall just short of primary importance. I really think that it's the Steel Series Software that really makes this product shine though, with EVERY button able to be customized for any purpose, the option to store an unlimited amount of custom button and CPI settings is complimented by the ability to link your settings with any game you play. Better yet, you can set a glowing color scheme for each mouse setting that can just be cool or can confirm that you're using the setting you want. The CPI settings are great, I've used this mouse with the following games and more: -ARMA 3 -Assassin's Creed: Black Flag -Spec Ops: The Line -Goat Simulator -Minecraft -Just Cause 2 -DAYZ -ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead -Banished -The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -And More... Throughout all the games I've played, the CPI settings on this mouse complimented each game very well and I didn't have to change any settings before starting a game because the software will automatically use the settings linked to a game once you start it. The only complaint I have is the cord, I'd feel more comfortable if it had a woven lining, allowing it to slide easier on surfaces, and perhaps it would make me feel like it's better protected, but otherwise, I have no complaints.

I feel like that the mouse overall is a very good mouse. The tracking feels very nice and the ergonomics of it is quite good also. The only downside is that in very long sessions the mouse grip can be a little fatiguing and I saw myself readjusting the grip every minute or so. (for a reference point regarding grips I use a full palm grip which your hand makes full contact with the mouse. And I prefer mice that are more back heavy than front heavy meaning that i prefer mice that have higher backs than fronts or middle). Lifting this mouse can also be problematic because it doesn't really lift that well with a relaxed hand. I have to have a more secure and forced grip on the mouse for lifting which makes the mouse quite uncomfortable. Another thing that i felt that was a little uncomfortable is the switches that the mouse feel a little stiff, but this is not a great issue because once you get used to them they feel quite nice. I feel like the weight is also nice, it's a little on the heavy side vs a mionix naos. The feet of the mouse glide quite well in the two mouse pads that i have which are both cloth. In conclusion it's a good mouse with very smooth tracking that I like a lot, with pretty good ergonomics that could be improved by a lot and pretty nice switches that may take time to get used to.

Excellent sort of basic mouse (though it does have 3 extra buttons). Driver software allows for button programming and control of illumination (if you really want your mouse to light up). Same control software works on all Steel Series products, no need for multiple programs for keyboard, mouse, headset, etc. Tracks well and feels good in the hand. The scroll wheel does not rock side to side for horizontal cursor movement.

Nice large mouse. I like the design and materials. I have small hands, but I still like the size. Everything works fine. You have to download a little program to set up the dpi speed and the two color leds; one at the scroll wheel and an other one at the logo. I run Linux and there is no program to set this up under Linux. You have to use a Windows or Apple machine to program the mouse then move it to your Linux Machine. The program will not work under WINE. Supposedly, Steel Series has no plans to write their program for Linux. Once it is set up on a Windows machine, it works as expected.

Love the included software for the Steel series peripherals. This mouse has available button schemes for this mouse ready for use as well as being able to program your own custom macros. RGB LED color schemes and patterns are excellent and laser precision and DPI swappabilty is perfect. Love it so far.

Bought this mouse to replace my 16 year old one when getting a new iMac. The shape of this was most similar to my old one. Nice, comfortable curve and a bit larger than most. I have slightly longer fingers so perhaps that's why I like a longer mouse. The center scroll disk works smoothly. I have programmed the right click button to be a "back" arrow/page button, as gaming buttons are not used by me. I would give it high marks and recommend it as a purchase.

As expected Steelseries delivered a solid performing mouse. I typically play FPS games such as CS along with office work, etc. For both work and play this mouse functions amazingly with a great feel, you can definitely feel the comfort and quality of the product from just looking at it but for you right handed folk out there you will definitely be pleased. I don't have huge hands but it stills fits comfortably, whether you claw grip or palm grip you will be comfortable. The RGB lighting is nice but i'm not a flashy person so I just turn them off. The Steelseries engine (software) is solid and runs consistent with no issues on my end. Job well done, if you're looking for a solid performing optical mouse that is comfortable, simple, and accurate every time look no further.
