It's a long movie but a good one for it's time strange twist to it

Definitely like the remake better but this is still one of my favorites.

Having missed IT when the miniseries first aired, I was delighted to see it restored on Blu-ray. The power of the story lies in the underdog kids who band together in a Goonies-style quest to defend themselves from the bogeyman Clown haunting their town. Our sympathy for these characters carries over to their adult lives when they have to band together 30 years later, restore their relationships, and finally defeat Pennywise. Yes, the effects are a bit dated, and the Clown is played with some camp by Tim Curry. But he is nonetheless a frightening caricature of bad dreams for children, and the performances of the actors along with solid direction make this horror tale work. The bond the main characters share and their true love and affection for each other is the true strength of this version. Recommended if you want a more heartfelt, though no less tragic telling of Stephen King's IT.

This is a must have if you a fan of IT, great horror flick

Thie picture and sound on this DVD are of really good quality. If you're looking to purchase one for yourself, you've most likely seen it previously and are preparing to watch the new version. The story, being this was a made-for-tv movie, was really good and included a big cast of names for the time. My only qualm is that the movie is in two parts (which is how it was on its original television release) but the DVD must be flipped to watch part two. Not sure what that is as DVDs can hold 3 hour movies, so perhaps it's on two different sides to reflect a two-part movie. I don't know. Buy in confidence, and buy when it's on sale. I paid less than $5, so it's a cheap purchase that will be watched a couple more times over the next decade.

Great movie, but prefer the newer version of the movie IT.

Nice steel book not bad price for a great classic movie

The Blu_ray Steelbook is highly recommended to fans of Stephen King's IT (1990) IT is so nostalgic. It was made in 1990 as a tv series and was set in 1960 were teens known as the losers club have to deal with a killer clown named Pennywise the clown. They have to face him as teenagers, and adults 30 years after. Can they stop him? You'll have to watch and see. Highly Recommended for anyone that likes older Horror Movies. “Oh yes. Can never beat the classic. Just for how great it is.

It, especially presently, is amongst the most popular of Stephen King's works and has been summarized many times over so I'll refrain from doing that here. Instead, I'd like to highlight this particular blu-ray release and, more specifically, the aspect ratio which is now finally correct for the home media market. The DVD release features a widescreen picture but since the aspect ratio of the actual show was fullscreen the picture was cropped and thus incomplete. Thankfully more care was taken in preparing this blu-ray release for mass consumption and the aspect ratio is as it should be in all of its splendid glory. Also, the picture looks great!

As a child of the nineties I am well acquainted with Pennywise the dancing clown. I first saw this Mini series when I was only 7 years old period from then on it's sparked a life long love for Stephen King. Its so much fun to rewatch, even if the Adult portion is soooo bad. I mean Annette O'Tool whining "Why does IT hate!? Why is IT so mean!?" Yeah, I.. just.. even with the poor pacing of Chapter 2 Chastain was far about her portrayal of Beverly Marsh.

With all of the hubris surrounding the new version of IT (both chapters), a lot of people forget the original TV adaptation of the story. It was an incredible thing when it first came out. Amazing actors (including my favorite, the late John Ritter), a great story and a Pennywise that will forever be maniacal and evil. If not for the ending this would be the perfect miniseries (yes, even against The Stand). The steelbook version makes it irresistible.

When I saw this movie in the early 90s, I remember I thought that this was a weird, random and a little confusing movie, considering that this was mostly a tv show, it wasn't one of my favorites to be honest, I saw the remake at the movie theater a few weeks ago, and I think is much better than the original (I love it), so I was crazy to get the original...and just on time for Halloween, I finally got it on BR, great picture with great audio restoration, but after I saw the remake, I think this one is even worse than I remember, not one of my favorites, but still a must have horror classic film.

I love this version of the movie in the metal case and the remastering is on point. However, this movie is dated and the remakes are far superior. Either way though, good buy.

Saw this a long time ago, after seeing the remake and enjoying it, thought I would get the original. Have to admit, the remake is much better. Can't wait to see "It, part 2"

Very average release but when you can score it for roughly $5.. it's worth the pick up. Nice transfer on video/audio. No special features other than an audio commentary.
