I viewed this movie several years when it was shown om TV. I was very skeptical that it could equal the 1980 original. But I was pleasantly surprised. The acting and the special effects were very good. That's why I bought this DVD version.

A decent remake of the classic story from Stephen King.

I liked this version of The Shinning, best of all. So glad to add it to my movie collection.

This is such a great movie. Much better than the creepy version with Jack Nicholson.

This miniseries was way better than the movie. It tooks it time with fleshing out the story and characters. One of my favorite Stephen King adaptations.

Don't get me wrong. Kubrick made a great film when he made his version of King's classic 40 years ago. It was a psychological masterpiece by any standard and I still watch it sometimes to this very day. Unfortunately, it's easy to understand why people might prefer this version. As far as remakes go, this one is a lot more faithful to the classic novel and thus makes it necessary. If you loved the original Shining or even Doctor Sleep, you really should grab this if you haven't already.

While this version may not have big stars like Jack Nicholson or Shelly Duvall, this version starring Brian Weber and Rebecca DeMornay (big stars in my book) is based more off of the book tand follows the book much more closely than the older version. THAT'S why I like this version better.

I think the people who don't like this movie, never read the book. This movie is accrate with Stephen King's book. Nothing in the original shining was the same. Except, I'm going to bash your brains in, O'Grady and the lady in the bathtub. The ending wasn't even right.

I was almost going to buy the DVD from Best Buy, thankfully I didn’t it would’ve been the worst impulse spent. So I was able to watch it online free and got through all 3 parts. The movie was more of a melodramatic middle-aged sappy and bickering ken and Barbie with a beaver-toothed son soap opera than a horror movie. it was not scary, i'v seen crappy horror remakes and few amazing ones, but this specific remake stands out in irritating agony!
