When the charger is plugged into the wall, it seemingly emits a high pitched buzzing sound. If the charger is taken out of the 3DS console but remains in the wall, then it will emit a much louder, lower frequency buzz while the charger's base heats up. This has happened each time I've removed it from the wall and it even smells like burnt plastic. I would not recommend this product to other people. While it's possible that lower voltage outlets could reduce these effects, I've had no such luck. Hopefully, the quality gets worked on and the saftey is re-evaluated. I don't want to imagine someone buying this as a gift and causing their friend or family member to accidentally burn down their home. If you decide to buy this item anyway, it's worth noting that the cord length is much shorter than the official 3DS power adapter and the cord's head that plugs into the console is much longer than the official one causing it to excessively stick out of the port.
