The game is okay but does not compare to the newer Street Fighter games. But if your a collector of the series then go ahead and purchase, not a bad game.

Street Fighter 4 marks the 20th anniversary of the franchise and does it in a big way.
The game includes the traditional Arcade mode where you fight your way through 7-8 stages unlocking the story for each character. Difficulty ranges from Easiest which is ideal for players new to the franchise or fighting games to Hardest for veteran players who need a challenge. A big part of Street Fighter 4 is the Versus mode which includes local if you have friends over and Online if you feel like challenging someone around the world either for fun or a ranked match. Challenge mode makes an appearance offering three different modes time attack, survival, and trial. Trial is unique because it will show new players how to play the game by making you perform all the moves of a character of your choice in order to proceed. Later levels of trial will teach you how to string combos together.
Gameplay consists of three different punches (L,M,H) and three different kicks (L,M,H). By imputing different directs and pressing the correct punch or kick you can perform special moves as well as finishers. Moves execute flawlessly without any lag. All 25 of the characters available are evenly balanced so you never feel like you are at a disadvantage if you choose one character over another. The only problem with the gameplay is the Xbox 360 controller itself. The D-pad is very unresponsive when doing some moves so using the analog stick will be something you may have to get used to.
Street Fighter 4 is a very easy game to pick up. However, if you are just starting to play you should stay away from the online until you have a general understanding of the moves and can perform them when needed. That doesn't mean that if you are new to the game that you should never play online. Street Fighter 4 takes a minute to pick up but a long time to master.
Collectibles are what will keep you wanting to play more and more. There hundreds of Icons and titles to unlock by playing vs mode as well as different colors for each character, personal taunts for each character, concept art and anime movies from each characters story.
Overall, I was very satisfied with my purchase. I had never played a Street Fighter in my life but this game makes it possible for someone new to be able to compete with the veteran players because of how simple the fighting system is to pick up yet it holds so much depth. Both "casual" and "hardcore" gamers can enjoy this game.
If you are looking for a good fighting game; look no further. If you are looking for a good game to play with friends; look no further. If you are looking for a game that will entertain you for a long time; look no further.
Street Fighter 4 is THE best fighter out this generation of gaming.

Best fighting game of 2009

Great game to play online and with friends and anyone on XBL. Good visuals, great sound, and great action.
IGN.com best of E3 2008, Best of E3 2008 Game trailers, Best of E3 2008 Gamespy Xbox and PS3, Game Critics Best fighting game of the year. (yet people give the game a 1 out of 10? yeah good reviewing)
I notice some people rate the game 1 out of 10 on everything saying the game is horrid and I can’t help to laugh. The game wasn’t meant to have FPS graphics there is rarely a good fighting game that does. Don’t let others turn you away with little reviews on how hard the game is or how bad the graphics are, neither are true. I have a Sony 1080p 120hz TV and the game looks amazing.
The controls for the game were bad. Everyone knows the Xbox 360 D-pad sucks. So you can either spend $60-150USD on an arcade stick or $30-40 on a fight pad. But, what I have learned as well as others is if you use the tip of your thumb and are light on the controls moves will come natural and be easy to repeat like its second nature using the pad or the stick. The games AI likes to do cheap shots every now and then that can make the average person mad, but it does not happen all the time and just means you need to get better.
Online play is awesome if you play in arcade mode and turn challenge mode on you will have players wanting to fight you all the time. Great game to add to your collection if you like fighting games.

I was born on street fighter, played it on my super nintendo when it first came out. It was the thing me and my brother always played because it was challenging and just plain fun. When I heard this new version was coming up, I was ecstatic and having been waiting so long for it to finally arive. My hopes were high for a good reason, because Capcom delivers. It is a fun game, easy to pick up, and it looks gorgeous. Online play is nice to finally have and my brother and I are still battling it out with Ryu and Ken with a big smile on our face. Go buy it now!!!!

I have played this game before at arcades when I was younger but this blows that away. I may not be the greatest at the game but it is very difficult to get the controls down. The graphics are absolutely amazing and are second to none in fighting games. Most people that I have come acrossed playing this are exp. Street Fighter gamers so that may be why I dont seem up to par on the game. Training mode is great to work on special moves and Supers/Ultras. Overall, this is a great game and I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good fighting game.

This is a great addition to the Street Fighter collection. What's nice about it is it stays true to Street Fighter roots while adding some pretty interesting additions. I like that SF has stayed along the classic 2D style of gameplay, it's always been preferred for me over 3D fighting games. However, they did add some 3D elements that are mostly animations that add some cool visual effect to the game. The directional pad can be frustrating to use until you adapt to it, depending on your experience with the Xbox 360 controller and fighting games. Using characters that require charging back or down for 2 seconds for special moves can prove difficult depending on your skill level. The new focus special moves and super special moves (can't remember what they're called) are cool editions, but if you're playing someone who is well accustomed to using them and you aren't, you're done for. If you like to play against the computer, and you play on the hardest level be prepared to be dominated by combinations of super attacks and focus attacks. It is labeled "Hardest" for a reason though, so no complaints here.
The only problem I have with the game is the Xbox Live portion, which was actually the portion I was most excited about. Finding a match against someone with a good connection can be a pain, and sometimes the lag is so bad it will take a full second for the game to render a command. Also, when you search for potential opponents, the game brings up three choices, and all three of those people might be in a game already. Why format the search this way? There should have been a search filter that searched for the optimal connection speeds and only displayed those hosts that weren't already engaged in a game with someone else. I've spent up to five minutes just searching for someone to play with on Xbox Live...very frustrating. If you have a friend who also owns the game, it is relatively easy to connect to that friend via an Invite to Game request.
Despite the multiplayer downfalls, the game is extremely fun if you're a fan of the series. I think some of the new characters are kind of dumb, and I'll never play as them, but they're still fun to play against. If you're a fan of Street Fighter, you'll be a fan of SFIV.

all around, great fighting game. SF4 has alot of good characters, great mechanics, and amazing visuals. If you liked any of the old street fighters, or even if you didnt, you will love this game. It takes the saying "a minute to learn, a lifetime to master" to a new level.

This is an amazing game. I picked it up for $30 at bestbuy and could barely put it down. The difficulty settings can be switched around so you can make it as hard as you want, the controls are just as simple as they have always been and they didn't make the mistake that other fighting games like Mortal Kombat have done by making the environment 3-D. This is a game that you can play over and over with friends and the best part about it is that you don't need a fistful of quarters to play it anymore.

One of these reviews is obviously a troll. This game was not made to coicide with the movie. The movie was made to concide with the game. This gameplay brings back the concepts from Street Fighter 2 with a dash of Street Fighter 3.
The moves have not changed for the iconic characters. The game is gorgeous and fluid. It runs at 60FPS. This game will probaley bring back the fighters for a new age of online competetion. Jump into the fighting circuit if your new or if your an old timer come in and start to learn a new system.

Street Fighter IV follows Street Fighter II in the series, this game takes place before Street Fighter III.Two dozen characters are available, including the heroes and villains from Street Fighter II such as Ken,Ryu,Chun-Li,and M.Bison.New characters as Gouken, the trainer of Ryu and Ken,C.Viper,a government agent, and Seth, who can use the special moves of other characters.Fei Long,Gen,Dan,and Cammy are characters not seen in the arcade version. The only thing is you may need to buy the arcade stick to pull off better moves. If you're a fan of Street Fighter than this game is for you.

I can't say that i have played it yet but for what i have seen its a must buy. the character models look funny but im not complaining; it grew on me. unlike other games they made the characters pretty even in power witch i love. if anyone has played Soul Calibur 4 at all they know who im talking about (Kilik). the only problem i saw was a tournament video on gamspot where everyone used Zangief and spammed the Pile driver over and over. i guessed not much has changed sense SF2. oh well though, its still looks like a great buy for all people who love the fighting genre.

First of all, the game's beyond incredible. Street Fighter came back with a vengeance and is now the current big tournament game. Everything is amazing and fun to play no matter what, and I love beating scrubs online.
To those scrubs who think the game's terrible and reviewed it down, good job, just because the game's too hard or you're too much of crybabies to play a real game, then don't review it and call it trash. Go back to your call of noobie and your WoW because this game is def not for you.
