Saw this in the theater as a kid and loved it. Still pretty good today. Like a lot of action movies of that era, it's a Die Hard clone. But it was one of the better ones.

Not the greatest movie, but I'm from PGH and was an extra and I love the Pittsburgh Penguins.

I will admit that the trailer and concept of the movie were intriguing. The problem I had with the movie was that it did not feel real enough to me. Die-Hard (the movie that started all of the imitators) felt real to me (or at least at real as action films allow). The characters and story in Die Hard were engaging from start to finish while the action sequences were just a small part of the story. Even though there were some good action scenes in Sudden Death (like the scene were McCord runs through the bleachers to try and get away from the bad guys), they tended to dominate the film. I wished that they took more time to focus the film on the characters and story instead of the action. All in all, I barely give this film 2.5 stars out of 5.

'Sudden Death' is probably the most disappointing Jean Claude Van Damme movie I've seen. The film had a great trailer and cool title, so it was all the more disappointing when watching the movie and coming to find out the only real fight scene takes place between Van Damme and a woman dressed in a Pittsburgh Penguins mascot outfit, who subsequently kicks Jean Claude's butt. Dumb. Full-screen.

This movie has some good action scenes but the rest could use some work.
