A Definite Must See if you Appreciate and LuV Good 'Ole Soul Music. A must see for another reason is "Quest Love" the Music Picasso of Drums for the band "The Roots" outta Philadelphia,Pa. They appear nightly on the "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on NBC. QUEST LOVE produced this film. Rumor has it the he and some helpers where cleaning out an old basement in Philly when "Quest" found a whole boxes of VHS Tapes, cassettes etc. What was on the tapes blew all Soul Music Lovers away! Back in the day when Woodstock days where going on, the black communities of Philly were and did put their own Woodstock Concert on right there in the inner city! From the sounds and smiles and Dynamic Talent a Good ' Ole Time ' was had by ALL. "Quest Love" did say there is a bunch more footage to be gone through and possible repairs to some of the tapes visuals & audio. I myself can Not wait for the New Concert Material Stories of how no matter what feelings folks feel good or bad like it or not We All Still Bleed Red and Music is STILL and Will Always Be the World's Universal Language! So folks, pop some corn and invite some good ole friends and new ones and rent this DVD or purchase it from Best Buy as I did.I promise, You will Not be Disappointed. If anything you'll be waitin' on the New DVD to drop! Happy Listening Folks! ✌️ FYI, I wanted to give this film and Best Buy 5 Stars but my darn device is acting Crazy again and usual!

I really enjoyed this movie. I was unaware this concert had happened in 1969, though I was aware of Woodstock. But I was 21 and living in Washington, DC and was aware that black music was reshaping the American cultural scene. I especially enjoyed seeing Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder and Sly and the Family Stone perform. It was music I was into at the time. And to see the excitement of the audience. It was all so exhilarating, and to think that it took place so long ago and is only coming to light now. Wow.

I had heard great reviews from friends about Summer of Soul and then it won Best Documentary Film at the Academy Awards this year 2022! I had to see it and I'm very happy I can watch this with friends over and over again! I love the music and going down memory lane. Times have changed; however, great music always lifts my spirits and classic songs have staying power!

If you were around when this documentary was made like I was, this is flash back to a friendlier time. Summer of Soul displays a feel-good moment when it was safe to attend an outdoor event. The entertainment was great. This is a movie worth watching.

A blast from the past! Some great artists who were not able to participate in Woodstock held their own festival and the music was great! Been searching for this for a looong time! Thank you Best Buy for stocking this product and at a great price!

Movie / documentary is filled with history & entertainment. The reason why I give it 4/5 stars is because I wish the performance were not interrupted by the commentary. If only it was the 2 versions of this film, 1 with the commentary & one that is a straight concert, from on performance to the next.

I had watched this and KNEW I had to own it, watch it again and again, and share it with others!! It was a hidden gem in history and the performances are fabulous. I truly enjoy it and highly recommend it!!!!!!

The only reason I gave this a four star review is the fact that it is only available as a DVD and did not have as many special features as this release deserved. A great movie for music lovers and it is a fantastic historical retelling of an ignored musical event.

A really well done film about a concert that was going on around the same time as Woodstock, but got nowhere near the publicity

Great classic soul fest. If you enjoy good old music, and great performances, this is the one. Loved all the music. Definitely a must see.

I thought back on those days which brought back great memories. I was there to see all the activities and enjoyed a flashback watching the movie.

Love this documentary a lot. I did not know that the Harlem culture festival exist until I saw this film.

Beautiful lineup of soul, gospel, jazz, rock, pop. The interviews illuminate what this festival meant at the time and beyond.

Summer if Soul is a good DVD especially since it was filmed in New York in the park. Sly Stone and the Family is excellent as well as Gladys Knight and others. Summer of Soul is a must DVD for all who love Soul music,

Beautiful movie and so fun to enjoy history that was hidden! It is awsome and deserving of an OSCAR Winner!

This was a terrific concert. I enjoyed all of the talented acts on this video. Exceptional!

If you are music history buff, you will not be disappointed. Watch it and see why it won an Oscar.

This is a marvelous documentary!! No wonder it won the Academy Award on Sunday March 24th!!
