Love the mobility of using a monopod rather than a tripod. This is my first and I wanted something inexpensive but sturdy. Didn't shop around but am very pleased. It's lightweight and easy to use. Used it to photograph the moon tonight and will use it for shooting theatrical productions.

It's a stick - but a good one

Honestly, it's a stick - so what it comes down to is 'how sturdy is it' and 'how easy can it extend/collapse'. Aside from that, what matters is the head you put on it (get a good one) and the camera attached to it. It's cheap, uses a standard mound, and collapses/extends quickly and easily. I would like to see a foot on the bottom that doesn't slip as easily, but for the price, it's hard to complain about it. Great for bands and similar shots where you don't always know where you're going to be or what angle you're going to be shooting from. For video, it's somewhat handy, but I recommend you skip it and get a legit shoulder mount rig.

Nice lightweight monopod for doing occasional sports photography.
Sturdy enough for my SLR with a 28-300 2.8 zoom lens. It performs fine seat level or unextended as it is too lightweight fully extended to balance when you are pivoting or rocking quickly for the perfect shot.
Easy to use and great for occasional use.

I attach my GoPro to this. It is lightweight and extends out for great shots. I can reach places I couldn't get my arms, or wouldn't want to, and use it for self shots aiming the camera back at myself. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't collapse down enough when I'm not using it. Probably fine for a full size backpack, but when i'm using the GoPro I try and go light. Works good as a walking stick kinda too?

I was surprised at how light this monopod is. I bought it for a telephoto lens that is too heavy for me to use with my arm alone. I am glad I bought it. I used it on a recent trip to Alaska and was able to get some great shots of whales a good distance away, that were really clear.

Really like this mono pod, especially the quick release flip levers for easy height adjustment, and colapse. It is also very light. The only knock is Since I carry this during hiking trips, it is bit longer than I would like, but this isn't a major set back.

Light weight and compact. Easy to use. It has adjustable heights. It can handle the weight of a canon 7d with a 70-200 zoom lens.

I bought this to travel with. I put my camcorder on it for steadieness and can turn it with out much movement in view finder.
Overall rating would have been excellent but without a quick release which i bought but is heavier then monopod it self. It still works great.

This monopod was exactly what I needed to steady my DSLR camera for shooting video during a fifth grade talent show. It provided a steady support from my seat - if I had used a tripod I would have had to camp out in the aisle during the performance.
Some monopods are billed as being able to double as a walking stick - this one is too light for that, but other than that it is very handy to have around.

Sturdy monopod supports camera while allowing user to move around. I purchased this after attempting to use a tripod for shots during theater dress rehearsals--unlike the unwieldy tripod, this monopod allowed me to move quickly and easily between rows of seats. Collapses easily and compactly, and sturdy enough to support large lens.

Tight Monopod

This is a four-section lightweight carbon fiber monopod. Each of the sections feels tight yet strong. It will extend to a height where my camera's view finder is at eye level, which is very important to me. When I am taking HDR (high dynamic range) photos, it is necessary to use a tripod, but there are too many instances when a tripod is unavailable, or impractical. That is when a monopod is very helpful.
There is one down side to this unit; there is no handle, really. There is a hole drilled for a clip, which you must remove before attaching your camera. This is very impractical. On the other hand, it collapses nicely to fit in a normal sized piece of luggage, such as a roller cart.
