This unit does what it's designed for - a short range flash that offers more flexibility than a built-in flash. And it travels well. The adjustable flash head works well on short, flat ceilings to bounce and soften shadows. It has no problem with straight-ont flashes across the room. The adjustable power works well too. But if you need more power for longer distances or bouncing off tall, angled ceilings, use a standard flash unit. It would seem odd to use a flash unit that's as big or bigger than my Canon G15. I shot well over 200 flashes on a fresh pair of AA batteries. I only changed them out because it seemed like the unit was taking longer to charge up for the next shot. I use a bounce card attached with a rubber band, which works well at reasonably short distances with this unit.
