    Legendary Japanese Arcade Game

This is a port of the arcade game that is only available in Japan. In the arcade game, the player uses real trading cards that are scanned and the game is played out on screen. Unfortunately, we do not have actual physical cards in this version, they are all digital cards that you collect and use. The gameplay itself is a ton of fun. My first reaction was: I have no idea what is going on right now, but I love it!! There is a lot of strategy to the game itself, and a ton of cards to collect (over 1,000). The nice thing about the cards is that you do not need real money to buy them. You earn gacha tickets in the various modes in the game: story, arcade, versus, creation mode, puzzle mode and more. Tons and tons of characters in the game and the story is just crazy. There is even a fusion of Hercule and Goku! Definitely check this game out if you are a fan of Dragon Ball or a fan of trading card games.

SDBHWM (lol) is a crazy game. You can have Goku team up with Vegeta from GT, Super Saiyan 3 Radditz, Super Saiyan 4 Bardock, Adult Gotenks, and a Saibaman. If that sentence made sense to you, that tells you what sort of fan service you're in for. This game is an arcade game from Japan. And where Japan players had to buy actual packs of cards to play, everything is in this package which is like over 1100 cards. You play by making decks of 7 cards and in some cases even equipping them with new abilities. You can even make your own cards. From there you battle and depending on who you use and how you place them on a field they battle and use super moves with their 3D models. The graphics aren't like Dragon Ball FighterZ so you aren't going to be wow'd or anything, and the sound quality for the voices are... well they are from the arcade game and they suck (Japanese arcades are loud and they can't hear them!). But there's a ton of content there for your buck. There's a amusing and cheesy story mode, as well as an arcade mode that has you play through battles based on all arcs of the Dragon Ball Super show Including the new Broly movie, and some original stoy lines as well like Cell and Kid Buu being revived with the dark dragon balls. There's also online play including ranked battles and limited time events. There's no card trading though. You get cards by unlocking tickets as you play. It's pretty generous with them and cards are one time gains. So any duplicates are transformed to a currency you can use for more tickets. Yes you do spend tickets with a Gatcha system, but there's no micro transactions and the rate of getting cards feels good. I love the game and since it's on the switch you can play it anywhere you find time for a quick match and some packs. So I definitely recommend it to any Switch owners who love Dragon Ball and wanted to see some cool things that the show never dared look into! Become a Dragon Ball Hero Today!

    A Very Niche Card Game

Okay so i really love this game, i could honestly recommend it to any dragon ball fans who want to play a dragon ball game that has a different pacing to it. Now if you're not a dragon ball fan, but a fan of weirder card games, then this game might be for you as well, just learn how to read the stats on the card and you'll be fine, you don't need to know about Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegito's abilities in dragon ball lore to play this game. the story mode feels like it's going really fast, but they do a good job of explaining things like it's the first game, even though it's the fourth console/handheld release. And there's online battle and let me tell you, my first online match i fought a dude and died in one turn and all i could do was laugh because i felt like i was rolling through the story mode and then i get shown i have a lot to learn. so yeah, good video game, would recommend to dragon ball fans or card games fans.

This game is a super popular title in the east. Over here in the west Dragon Ball fans have been blessed with receiving a release for the Nintendo Switch! Before I get into this review I do want to state I am a bit bias. I love the DBZ franchise, and I am a sucker for semi grindy-heavy grind rpg's/collect-a-thons. Now if I haven't scared you away yet let me tell you what this cartridge has to offer. PROS: Hours upon hours of gameplay. A fun team building system, and rewarding gameplay. Several levels, and game modes. Nothing gets old if you like the gameplay loop. Many of your favorite faces making a return in varying combat styles, and skins. A Custom/Creation mode. Fully Voiced. CONS: Outdated Graphics (I for one do not believe it hinders the experience at all) Corny dialogue from time to time. The CI Battle system can feel a bit cheap at times in pivotal moments, and can leave you feeling like your battling a rigged game. Some unnecessary QTE's. Long story short if you are a hardcore DB fan, or just really like micromanaging your teams, and collecting stuff this game will be plenty of fun for more than one run. I do recommend getting the gamer's unlocked through best buy to buy this game for 48 vs the full tag price.

I like video game versions of some card games. Granted, this game introduces elements you can’t do with a simple card game (unless you introduce probability dice and complex rule sheets). This game is near identical to the mobile phone version of the game if you’re familiar with that. As a card game, simply put, it’s a highly elaborate version of the card game “War.” And it executes it well. There a card collection mechanic where you earn coins/zenny for gameplay, which in return is exchanged for random cards. You then use those cards to improve your hand for future matches.

Overall the game is amazing. I put over 20hr in so far and plan to put in more. The games strongest part is the options. Theres so many to characters, abilities, modes and strategies to play. The weakest part is the story. Theres one part that is repetitive. However the good out weighs the bad in my opinion. Adding dlc and updates in the future will make this game that much better. Being able to take the on the go is another win for dbz fans and Nintendo.

This is a fun game with tons of interesting cards including deep cuts from DragonBall history as well as new what feels like fan fic versions of the characters you know like SSJ4 Broly. The card game is fun with tons of combinations to try out leading to different strategies. Story mode could have been better and they need to patch the game with option to skip some of the moves. It can get repetitive to see the moves over and over every round.

Definitely no Yu-Gi-Oh, but I like the take on this. Apparently this game is a Japanese Arcade game that was ported over to the Nintendo Switch. Really like some of these 'what-if' characters in here. Teen Gotenks is my favorite and this game is mostly gacha based with puling units (need in game ticket and then you use them to get cards). Very easy to play and so far. I'm enjoying it.

I love all the button mashing DBZ games there are, but I had to pick up the DBZ card game when I saw it. While the gameplay is fairly simplistic, being able to make up your own teams using characters from across all generations of the shows is amazing, and the what-if scenarios add content that will keep even the most veteran DBZ fans interested.

I was apprehensive at first with purchasing a DBZ that was mainly popular only in Japan. But was I wrong! Deep game play, loads of classic DBZ, GT and Super characters to choose from and beautiful graphics. I show this off to my anime friends and they are very impressed. Well worth the purchase price.

Popular Japanese arcade card battler actually released in the west. Subtitled with original Japanese language. Must have for DBZ fans. Deep and engaging card strategy. Creating your own cards is super fun. A celebration of all things Dragon Ball. Dated but excellent graphics.

    The Best Dragonball Game Ever!

    |
    |
    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This game is easily the best Dragonball game ever. It is the first western release of the "Dragonball Heroes" brand, which is a spin off loosely based around the Xenoverse series. Practically every character in the Dragonball universe is represented in the game as well as the "what if" characters the "Heroes" franchise is known for (e.g Super Saiyan 4 Broly, Evil Saiyan, Super Saiyan Raditz, etc.) While the gameplay is unorthodox for the series, an arcade-like cardgame, it is very easy to learn, yet difficult to master. As of this review, there are no micro-transactions that plague most video games nowadays. Recently, the first of many planned free DLC content was released based on the recently released Broly Movie, bringing brand new cards, missions, and much more! This is the perfect gift to any Dragonball fan in your life. Can not reccomend enough!
