Super Mario 3D World is a classic Wii U title that is now on Nintendo Switch. For those who don’t own a Wii U or never played this Mario title, now’s your chance. This time with another adventure called Bowser’s Fury.
Plot: Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad are out enjoying a nightly walk when they spotted a broken clear pipe. Mario and Luigi use their super plumbing and fixed it when they spot a bunch of items flying out and a pixie who is in peril. She tells Mario and the gang that Bowser has captured her other pixie friends and took over the Pixie Kingdom. It’s up to Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad to rescue the Pixies and Pixie Kingdom from Bowser’s clutches.
Gampeplay: like every other Mario game, you control Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad through eight worlds jumping on enemies, enter pipes, collect coins for 1ups,gain power ups, and reach the goal before time runs out. And like in Super Mario Bros. 2, (US version), each character has their own stats. Mario is all round, Luigi can jump higher, Toad can run faster and Peach can float for a brief moment. The power ups like the Fire flower, Super Leaf, starman and Boomermang flower return with two new power ups such as the Super Bell that transform Mario and the gang into cats which allows them to climb walls to hard to reach platforms, scratch and pounce enemies. Along the way, there are three green stars which will unlock new levels and the games’ progress. And stamps that you can decorate the levels or World map with via Snapchat mode.
But, there is another new adventure called Bowser’s Fury. In this adventure, Mario embarks on a new world filed with islands and cats and Bowser Jr who is upset that his father Bowser has gone to powerful with darkness and it’s up to Mario to save him by collecting items called Cat Shines. Like Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy and Odyssey, you control Mario in an open filled world exploring new islands, find secret locations and collecting Cat Shines by solving puzzles or go through platforms. Also, Bower Jr. will help Mario by defeating enemies and paint secret drawings to reviel hidden pipes, helpful items and hidden Cat Shines.
But, you can’t wander around too long, as when it rains, Bowser appears shooting fireballs and fire lasers at Mario. In order to stop showing up, you must find a Cat shine or grab the giant Cat Shrine bell that will transform Mario into a Super Sayan Fury Cat Mario and fight one on one with a Bowser in a Kaiju style battle. Find all the Car Shines and save Bowser Jr’s father and the Cat Island.
As a Mario fan, this is a must have for your Switch if you never owned the game or owned a Wii U, 3D World has the original Mario formula with simple platforming, and power ups with new surprises. Bowser’s Fury is another great Mario adventure using the Mario 64 Collect-A-Thon trope with power ups that you can use anytime you want.
Grab your cat suit and get your claws on this purrrrfect Mario game.
I give Mario 3D World+ Bowser’s Fury a 10 out of 10

This game holds a special spot in my heart as it was the first game my young son was able to learn and play co-op with me. It is everything you could want in a Mario game with lots of replay value, memorable music, and some ramped up difficulty towards the endgame. Allowing the Silver Suit buff on some of the more difficult levels really lets younger players advance in the game and its a nice feature to keep them invested without getting frustrated. 4 player co-op is still a chaotic blast making this a perfect game for parties.
The price tag is a bit steep, since this is essentially a Wii U port, but the new Bower's Fury mode at least adds something to soften the first party cost. It's nice that Nintendo is slowly phasing the main Wii U titles over to the Switch, but a small price decrease would be wonderful for those that had previously purchased those games.

I originally played this game on the Wii U only in single player, and I thought it was fun but it didn't feel as memorable as other 3d marios like Galaxy and Odyssey. Even 3D Land on the 3ds felt more fun to me. I picked up this Switch port though and I've had the chance to heavily play multiplayer. Now I can very much appreciate the design of these levels more than ever. Multiplayer is an absolute blast with 3d World and was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a long time with Mario games. I also prefer the multiplayer much better than compared to Mario Maker 2 or Mario U Deluxe. The 3d World levels shine with multi. I cannot speak on the online multi because all of my multi has been local. I recommend the game, as I think it stands well on its own as a worthwhile game next to the numerous others on the Switch.

Always love Mario games, but this is like two games in one! Best of both worlds, classic Mario style, with a 3D twist, and Bowser’s Fury is a fun open world sort of feel. Liked it so much I bought a second game so my kids could play together.

This one one of my all time favorite Wii U games that has I have been waiting to get ported onto switch since New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe came out in 2019. With just about every port that comes over to switch Nintendo add in extras that more or less justifies its $60 price point for those who want to double dip & with bowsers fury its well worth it.

One of the best 3D Mario games to ever exist just below the Galaxies and Odyssey. Fun isometric, challenging platformer with Mario and friend. Also has an enjoyable co-op. Lastly, Bowser's Fury is one of the best things Nintendo has done in a while, but too short unfortunately.

Solid game from Nintendo. Very few of their games are ever boring. If you enjoy a good adventure game you’ll be happy. Bowser’s Fury is also a solid game also. Open world Mario that feels similar to Odyssey. The only downside I felt was the price tag. See if you can wait for sale.

This game is excellent. I can't believe how much content they packed into this master piece. The game gradually gets more and more difficult, but has well over 100 unique levels. Lots of fun with a balanced challenge. I still haven't tried Boswers fury part of the game.

Super Mario 3D World for the switch is an excellent upgrade port of the WiiU game. Running smoother and with the bonus of Bowser's Fury, it's worth paying full price if you've never played the original. But for those of us that played it when it originally came out, that full price tag seems a bit much. But Nintendo tends to be greedy , rarely dropping their prices on 1st party games and it just loves to make its customers pay again and again. Still as a Mario fan it's hard to resist. It's a 5 star game, but the knocking off one star for being overpriced.

Great game, the old fashioned timed levels make it more challenging and the graphics are good and the 3d platforms are always fun to play through. Bowser's Fury is open-world/open-leveled, which is my preferred type of game but both are great!!

Great game to pick up if you never played it on WiiU. Bowsers Fury (new content) reminds me of Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Just wish it lasted longer. The main game is full of charm and plenty of bite sized levels to keep the interest of many a player. Think of it as a hybrid of New Super Mario Bros U and Super Mario Odyssey. Between 2D and 3D. The controls aren't as tight as Odyssey, but still very good. Too bad they still want $60 for a 7 year old game with some added content.

I started playing Nintendo games in the late '80's with my original NES. I have always enjoyed and been more comfortable with side-scrolling games, but this is the first "3D" version of a Mario game where I actually enjoyed the game, and all because I felt like I could control the movement a lot better. I could never get used to the experience on my old Nintendo 64, but something about this one feels better to me.
I also enjoy the game because it's a moderate challenge. At least up to the point I've played, it isn't ridiculously hard, but offers a bit of a challenge, which I appreciate. There is variation in the gameplay and I like being able to play as multiple different characters.
While I have not played all the way through the game, it has been very enjoyable.

This is a game that came out on the Wii U but now it does have the additional Bowsers Fury added to it, so it's essentially 2 games for the price of one. Super Mario 3D World is a classic and its one of the best Mario games. I love the Cat Power!!! It is basically a remaster that now plays even better than the original. Speed of Mario's movement is faster now and I just cannot stop playing it. If you love Mario, and have never played this game before, I recommend it. For people who played this already, I would say wait for a sale because it's still worth it for the Bowsers Fury but not 60 bucks just for that.

Just some context, I have played the original Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U. It ran 30fps and it had multiplayer, but no online multiplayer. Sure, it can get a little hectic when playing with 4 players altogether, but it was still a fun game to play.
There was a minor nitpick I had with the game and that is if you missed collecting a green star and wanted to collect all 3 green stars in one go, you can't restart the level. In order to redo the level, you would have to exist the level and then it takes you back to the overworld map and then you re-enter the same level. When you complete a level, an auto-save feature takes a bit of time to load before letting you progress.
The Wii U version:
- framerate was 30fps
- local co-op multiplayer (up to 4 players)
- no online multiplayer
- could not restart levels unless you exist the level and go back in same level.
- auto-saving screens lasting a bit too long
Improvements (Switch version)
- better framerate - 60fps
- characters move faster
- online multiplayer (4 players)
- better clarity in video quality
- auto-saving screen has been shorten
- can restart level without having to exist out of them
- a brand new adventure added (Bowser's Fury)
I enjoyed playing 3D World on the Wii U, but I couldn't play with friends online. So, when I learned that they've added online multiplayer, I was very excited!
I played the game with a friend online to see how well the connection was. For the most part, throughout the game, it's actually pretty good. But there are certain points in the game where the connection starts to lag and cause the game to slow down a bit, which did affect the gameplay. Both me and my friend have good internet connections. It's Nintendo's online service that has issues. Other then that, we had a great time playing together.
- Bowser's Fury -
Bowser's Fury was a great addition to 3D World! It was a lot a fun to play. It's feels like an open world sandbox level from Super Mario Odyssey. You enter into a Cat-themed world. You play as Mario and you team up with Bowser Jr. to help get Bowser back to normal since he's covered in black sludge and is super angry and wants to destroy everything.
There is local co-op for Bowser's Fury. Your friend can play as Bowser Jr. to help you out in the game. If you're playing this by yourself, the game gives you the option on how much you want Bowser Jr. to help you in Bowser's Fury. Bowser Jr.'s role is to help you find items and defeat enemies. You can have Bowser Jr. help a lot, or less, or not at all. Which is a nice feature to give to the players if they choose to need help or not. Unfortunately, for Bowser's Fury, there's only local co-op. Only 3D World main game has the online multiplayer.
In Bowser's Fury, your goal is to collect Cat Shines, which are these collectibles to help remove black sludge from the lighthouses and the Giga Cat Bell. Every now and then, Fury Bowser will show up and try to harm you, but if you collect a Cat Shine, it adds light to the lighthouse and repels Fury Bowser back into the black water.
There are certain points where you fight Fury Bowser. When you free the Giga Cat Bell from the black sludge, Mario can use it to become Giga Cat Mario. Or as I would like to call him, Super Saiyan Lion Mario. It's a really cool fight between Giga Cat Mario and Fury Bowser.
Overall, the improvements to 3D World were good and adding a brand new adventure added more value to this game.
I would recommend playing this with friends and family.
