My 8 year old loves Mario and was excited to learn how to play checkers. The board and checker pieces resemble Mario and Luigi so it held my son's interest.

It is just checkers and tic-tac-toe with Mario and Luigi flavored pieces. No special rules, but if you like Mario, it's not poor quality or anything. The board and pieces are rather small and so this is best suited for young children.
