When first starting the game making levels is very easy for new players and you can learn all the mechanics by first going through the many levels in Story Mode. All of this is very fun and without even the online feature this could feel like a remix of different Mario games along with making levels to share to your friends or family. But with online this game suddenly has endless content with other makers able to post their own levels along with you to share yours too.

Whether you’re a classic Mario fan or want to try game design this game has something for everyone. There’s a story mode that shows ideas on how to use all of the mechanics available but there’s also Course World that features virtually endless levels that were created by other players of the game. This mode gives this title near endless replayability as there’s always new levels to share and discover. Anyone who enjoyed any 2D Mario game should check this one out.

Excellent game, one of my favorite game for the Switch. I love how you can play this game with more than two players.
The only downside is the internet aspect. They are not using dedicated servers so lag is very common for online play. Example: I may have excellent ethernet connection but if my friend has wifi and their router is far from the switch, it affects everybody. Other than that the game is fun.

The online (as of writing this) is incredibly laggy and despite that this is the best 2d mario game ever. The creativity of the community is off the charts plus it comes with a full single player campaign. An absolute must buy for the switch

The default story mode of this game is okay.
But it is the ability to make your own level and trying out other people's level design is the main attraction point of this game.
And I like that aspect of the game. But the game play can be a tad difficult/frustrating as most of the interesting maps are difficult and requires multiple tries.
If you are a casual gamer you are probably better off with regular mario games.

Let me start by saying that this game is not for the faint of heart. If you are willing to put in the time and use your creativity, you can design some amazing levels...there are so many options! If you have Nintendo Online, you can also play other levels created by gamers around the world which is pretty cool. This game might be overwhelming at first, but if you stick with it, you'll have lots of fun.

If you enjoy platforming games of any kind, you will certainly enjoy this game. The Mario games have some of the best platforming available with innovative level design, likable and colorful characters, mingled with great challenge. This game allows you to create your own levels within the widely varied Mario universe which is great fun. Level design is easy to use and fun. There is also a story mode which adds value to the game.

The Switch has been great, so many fantastic games, but we all still had to hold on to our WiiUs due to the one glaring omission: Mario Maker.
Well, no more. And while it has a few kinks (multiplayer lag, lack of parties, etc) it is, overall, fantastic. It adds more than anticipated to an already great game, the community is amazing, and it's simply a joy.
Highly recommended.
Now if only Nintendo made a Switch controller without a buggy D-pad...

Lots of fun. Works great. Kids love it. We checked online and it was available in the store so we picked it up the same day. Competitive price to what was offered online at other retailers.

Been trying to get this for a long time but was never going on sale. Best Buy came to the rescue and I jumped on it the moment the moment they put it on sale. The experience of purchasing from Best Buy is always the same; amazing, reliable, fast And cost cost effective. They are just as good as amazon, put your trust in them they won’t disappoint. Oh and the game “ Mario makes 2” is also good. Get it.

Super Mario Maker 2 is a fun way to build your own custom levels and play levels made by other people. It has all the fun elements of the Super Mario brothers series of games but with a world building twist. This game isn't as fun to me as the Super Mario Odyssey, Galaxy, or 3D games but probably would be perfect for someone who loves building or really loves the side-scrolling Mario games.
