This game Is lots of fun with the family. Easy to play. Everyone who plays needs their own joycon as Pro Controllers won’t work.

Just like all mario party games there are tons of mini games and different game modes in this version the only thing I don’t like to much is you have no choice but to use the joy cons when u play you can not use the pro controller or any other controller for that matter

Mario Party has been one of my family's favorite game series to play over the last decade. The classic board game kind of feel to it kept us playing Mario Party 7 for a really long time. Skipped several versions of Mario Party as they introduced kind of strange variations like the car in Mario Party 10. With Super Mario Party, we've pretty much arrived at perfection in the series. There's a co-op river rafting mode where you face challenges together - great for those who want something quick and casual, or those who aren't super competitive. The rhythm game mode is a great choice if you only have a few minutes or want simple instructions. Got my non gamer Mom and brother's wife to play and they had fun, lots of laughs! My brother and I play the partner mode all the time, it's neat to have a mode where it's an open map and you can go almost any direction - extra strategy! My favorite mode is the classic board game mode, but I still appreciate the other modes for the sake of variety. The minigames feel current with easy motion controls and containing things like drones or cameras. Of course, there are still short races and games like the classics. Perfect game for the family or quick sessions with friends! I will say this would probably not be as much fun without a group. Also, I think the game's absurd focus on stickers is mostly for the younger games. Overall - nab it, good one for the Switch library!

    Solid Iteration of Mario Party

This is a nice return to form for Mario Party, but it is not quite at the level of the previous games. It remains a fun party game to play with friends and/or loved ones. Good graphics & presentation. There is a good assortment of minigames; although some are odd & peculiar, on the whole, they are fun in general. Where this game stands for improvement is (A) board availability & (B) game customization. There are only four boards, which can get repetitive quickly, especially as they are not quite particularly unique from one another. In addition, there is no ability to tweak any of the rules (i.e change the price of a Star), which can be frustrating. Overall, despite it's shortcomings, this is a solid game to play.

There are few games that my wife will play but this is definitely one of them. Mario Party is a game full of mini games that are easy to grasp very quickly. Those who are not used to games where you have to navigate in a 3D space won't have an issue with the mini games because they typically are 2D controlled. There are a lot of different modes to play, from a board game style mode, to a river rafting mode. It's all good clean fun that any family can enjoy.

I'll be honest, I was never a Nintendo fan. I wasn't keen on 8-bit graphics back in the day and never saw much of an advancement in the Nintendo world, when X-Box and Playstation were making strides graphically. I've been a Sony fan since the beginning and had every version of the Playstation ecosystem. Well, this past Christmas, my son was asking and asking for a Nintendo Switch system. We duly spoke with Santa and he received one for Christmas. So a couple of weeks ago, we bought Super Mario Party for his as a gift for my son completing second grade and a fun start to the summer. We can't put it down. It's a game that the family plays together... be it just the mini-games or the full on 'board game'. I can't attest to previous versions of the game, but this has nice, slick, crisp looking graphics, the sound is neat, and the overall playability and desire to return to playing is high. Such fun and easy to pick up and put down, without investing masses of time, alternatively, you can sit down and play a 20 turn, 2 hour board game as well, with mini-games intertwined! And, my son can play it on his own also, which is great, meaning he can play it whenever and wherever he wants to, without having to wait for us! I'd highly recommend this game!

I’ve played a lot of Mario Party since I was a kid, and this is easily the best since the N64 days. The mini games are fun, interesting and challenging, and after a decent number of games, I have yet to repeat one. The boards are fun overall, but are generally too small and and can get annoying if players get stuck on one section with only a lucky dice roll the sole way to get them out. Also, only four boards!? That seems quite limiting, and it would have been better to have a lot more options to choose from. DLC maybe? Who knows, but with a AAA game, they should have included more. Those limitations aside, this game is a blast and one that will keep you and your friends occupied for a long time to come.

A solid return to form for Mario Party

Mario Party is a game that relies heavily on two parts coming together to be better then they would be individually . You have the board game part, where characters roll to get around the board collecting coins, items, and stars along the way. And there's the minigame part, which mostly takes place after everyone has a roll on the board. In a minigame, players compete against each other or in teams to win coins they can use on the board. Care needs to be taken that both the board game and minigame aspects are worth playing, or the whole game becomes a boring slog. So what about Super Mario Party? I found it to be a compelling entry in the franchise. The minigames, even the ones using motion control, are fun, and the board game aspect returns to everyone moving individually so players can make their own choices about where to seek victory. A new part to the board game is that everyone has a generic 1-6 die and a special character specific die that may have multiples of one number or extremely low or high numbers. Some special die can make you gain or lose coins! These special die add to player decisions and the feeling that they had an effect on the game. There's even a few more modes for exploration. River survival forgoes the board, putting everyone in a raft which must be rowed to the end of a river under a time limit. Minigames appear in balloons and can add more time if players do well in them. There's a 2v2 mode that changes how players can move on the boards, forcing cooperation with a partner for victory. There's also a rhythm mode where players play exclusive minigames where they must move to the beat to win. There's also a singleplayer mode to unlock, challenging a player to win a minigame a certain way. Unfortunately I have a few grips. Turns could be streamlined better, as even a 10 turn game can last an hour. There can only be 10, 15, or 20 turn games. Online mode is limited to the minigame portion only and even then it only offers a few minigames to play. Some items appear too rarely. There's only four boards to play also. Overall Super Mario Party is a good game worthy of playing with friends on a couch, but feels like it could have been better if fleshed out just a bit more. Solo players should probably look elsewhere as the computer isn't as fun to compete with as real people and the online mode is severely lacking

The Mario Party game I’ve been waiting for

As someone who enjoyed Mario Party before on previous consoles. I really had fallen off with the series. Mainly because I just never go around to getting any games after playing on N64 and GameCube. But when I saw Super Mario Party. Something about this title caught my interest more than the others. From the back to basics gameplay of the earlier titles. To the friendship testing moment mini games. It’s a title that harkens back to the those classic games. While bringing in new mechanics like the character specific die. And it looks great! The best looking Mario Party yet. So if you’ve missed out on Mario Party before like I did. This a great Party game and worth taking on the go.

This super Mario party game has great graphics and sounds but there are some down sides to this game. First, to be able to play it, it requires to use a single joy-con which may not sound bad but that is the only way to play. You are not able to use a pro controller nor other controllers to play this game. So to be able to play 4 players you would have to buy another set of joy-cons. This game would be a 5 stars if you were able to play with a pro controller and if it had more boards because currently it only has 3 plus a board you have to unlock by playing the 3 broads first.

The whole family enjoys this game, but be aware that Pro controllers are not supported, all players must have a Joy Con. Otherwise, the boards are fun, the game looks amazing, and there are multiple game length options. AFAIK there is no option to play with only 3 players so if you have less than 4 you'll be playing with CPU opponents which can be annoying at times. Overall we've enjoyed it though and I'm glad I picked it up.

My daughter, her friends, and I enjoy playing this together. Lots of fun hours of play. However, I have played many versions of this game on past systems and this version seems the most limited. There is still much to do, but I feel like after a couple of nights we went through have of the game. Where as past versions from GameCube and N64 we were only 10-20% through the game after a couple nights. Feels almost like Nintendo rushed to get this game out quickly for the holidays to bank some extra cash. It is still worth the money, but you may want to wait for a sale.

Great family fun. A bit nostalgic for us millennial parents. If playing with multiple kids, always choose random option for using items or stealing coins/stars. Things can get ugly!

New to Nintendo Switch and this was purchased as a family game since it can accommodate up to four players. So far, decently fun game and can be easily followed by kids and novices alike. Enjoy the various mini games which make it a bit more challenging/fun. Only downside so far is having to go through all 4 players every round (even if you don’t have 4 players), so it does drag out the length of the game…. 9 year old son enjoys it!

This has been a fantastic return to the Mario Party series. This game brings back to feeling of the old classics, with amazing minigames to show off the JoyCon tech. However, I will say the maps were seemingly designed for the Team Party mode and then the single player mode was thrown on top. For me personally, I don't mind it, but it does cause for some odd strategies in the original mode.

This game is a great choice for a family game. We need an idea for a game our 5 year old could play and this was definitely it. She had no trouble understanding what to do and it gives little practice sessions to help. Has fun mini games and challenges to do together.
