SVS' reputation for Home Theater precedes itself. This 500 W 12 inch sealed subwoofer packs tight, clean bass that is perfect for music or home theater setups in small-medium sized rooms. I did return this item, but only because the room I have is huge and since I prefer sealed to ported subwoofers, I opted to buy an SB16 Ultra instead. I am especially blown away by this sub (the sb16 ultra), but that's a review for another day. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the SB2000 subwoofer, however, I needed more of a punch given my room size.

After some research this model seemed to have the best bang for the buck. Rattles the dishes in the kitchen 30 feet away! The piano gloss finish looks great and the metal grill makes it pet friendly.

I had been considering upgrading my NHT SW2si 10" ported passive subwoofers as although they sounded great for music they just couldn't get low enough for movies without getting port noise unless I turned them down which lost all the impact for movies. I had been doing a lot of research and had decided on the SVS sealed sub. On a recent trip to Best Buy I noticed they had the sub I was considering in gloss black. I wanted the gloss black as all my equipment and speakers are gloss black. I live in Ohio and SVS is about 1 hour away. I had spoken to them numerous times about which subs they would recommend as I have a fairly large family room where they would be going. Although SVS recommended the ported version, which is not available in gloss black, I did not want to deal with the potential for port noise again. Well on my next trip Best Buy (also Magnolia) to purchase a Sony 75" Z9D TV for my other theater I saw the sub again and we made a deal for the TV and subs. First all I can say is these things are really impressive not only performance wise but in the looks department. The finish is amazing and they are really small and easy to place. Well after placing them and calibrating them with my Denon receiver I pulled out my go to movie for heavy bass, Godzilla. These things pound. I mean knock stuff off the fireplace mantel pound. I have a large collection of SACD and DVD-A and listened to several different ones that I am very familiar with and these subs are so smooth and it is almost impossible to tell you even have them they blend so well. I have NHT towers and center. My video equipment is the Oppo 103 and Elite Pro-70 TV is this room. I have moved my NHT ported subs to my basement theater which is considerably smaller than my family room where they sound great but now I am considering buying another pair of the SVS subs for that space too. These are just awesome subwoofers and if you get a chance check them out. If you try them you will keep them.

I had a PSB sub paid $1500.00 at the time I thought it was a great sub, but now I bought my new SVS 12 which has twice the out put for half the price as the PSB and sounds as good or better

The story with this sub-woofer is that I listened to all that Best Buy had to offer and told the salesperson they all sucked because they did. I'm extremely picky. I don't want a box that just goes BOOM. I want to hear the full spectrum of bass. The salesperson leaves the room, comes back and says "the audiophile guy here says THIS is the woofer you want." and shows me the SVS on his mobile. He was right. I paired this with a Bowers & Wilson 707 S2 and can't get over how good this pair sounds. Wow. I set let the frequencies up to 220 Hz flow to the SVS and it produces such rich bass while the 707's produce the amazing highs. And what a great price on the SVS. Thanks Best Buy for pointing me in the right direction!

Between purchasing one large sub vs running duals in my 1600ft+ man cave I chose to go with dual SB2000s and I couldn’t be happier. These subs hit low, and eliminate the null spots I previously had when running a single larger sub with more watts. SVS is known for their subs and I now know why. Don’t be fooled into buying a competitor who may have higher brand awareness, they will not deliver this level of performance at a similar price point. I recommend this brand to a friend and he thanks me on the regular.

I bought the SVS sb-2000 because I like tight controlled bass, and this puppy delivers! I tried several other ported subs (Polk, Klipsch) and they were too boomy for my listening tastes. The SVS provides the kick in the pants without muddying up the rest of the sound. Highly recommended!

I purchased this sub after a lot of research. The SVS line was recommended to me by a magnolia employee (a pb1000). I originally bought a Martin Logan but returned it and then purchased this sub. It sounds better than any sub I have listened to in its size and price range. If you can afford the 2000 series over the 1000 series, you will not be disappointed. This sub gets lower (presence) and has more output than the two pro800 Definitive Technology subwoofers I have in my home theater. Not bad for a single sub. The sb2000 is awesome. The pb2000 is significantly larger and has a little more output but the sb2000 seems to be more tight and better choice for music which is what I purchased this for.

This sub from SvS is extremely good for its price definitely competes with much more expensive subwoofers. Makes plenty of bass while also staying tight and not having that muddy sound that other subs will have.

I got this subwoofer to help replace the tight lower end that I lost when I replaced my Klipsch Fortes with Martin Login Motions. Because this is a non ported system, the definition is incredible while the 12" driver provides plenty of deep visceral bass. If you have main speakers with smaller drivers, you are missing an incredible amount of definition and punch from around 200 - 100hz. This sub fills the void very nicely. I don't think you can do better for twice the price.

I have been an audiophile for almost fifty years and researched sub-woofers in this price range for several weeks. After receiving this, I let it break in for approximately forty hours. The sound is everything I expected. I only use vintage amplifiers and receivers and currently running a McIntosh MA-6100. The bass is very clean and distinct.

This product performs well and provides good clean bass. I relocated a 15 year old Velodyne subwoofer (which still works BTW) for this SVS. The SVS has better specs so did provide a wider range than the Velodyne. You can adjust it to provide very thunderous base, but that is distracting to the listener after a while. Good product that I assume like my Velodyne will continue to perform for many years.

I've owned a ton of different subwoofers in my life and currently own three different SVS Subs. Basically I love their equipment, the build quality as well as sound and performance. For the price you're going to be hard-pressed to get this kind of performance out of any other product.

This subwoofer is occasionally mentioned in audiophile forums, but I believe the majority gets this right when this sub gets mentioned as more of a Home Theater sub. It can get boomy, but from a HiFi audio perspective, it’s a little sloppy. The bass isn’t ‘tight’ or ‘punchy’ like I’ve seen with the Bowers DB4S. The subwoofer gets a little sloppy in songs with a very musical bass. It’s more boom and diffuse than it is musical and punchy. 3 star audiophile subwoofer; 5 star Home Theater subwoofer = 4 stars.
