Customers are saying

Customers recognize the ease of use and the keyboard as significant advantages, frequently praising its user-friendly setup and full keyboard for texting. The phone's size and price also receive positive feedback, although some desire a larger screen. However, a common complaint centers around the battery life, with many users reporting that it does not last a full day.

Already had a T-Mobile flip phone but needed a larger screen for these aging eyes and wanted to learn to text because it's the only way my grand kids communicate. Wanted a camera to carry around so I wouldn't need to carry my digital all the time. This phone fits the bill just fine for me. Got this phone about three weeks ago and have been very satisfied with it so far. Keyboard has been easy to get used to for someone that never used one before. Battery life is good... call quality is good... screen is much better for me than my flip phone was now that my eyes are getting old. The weight is a little heavier than I'm used to but not enough to bother me. Phone size is good for me. So far so good... seems to be the right choice for me and my needs which is just talk and text on pay as you go. I'm happy with this purchase.

    smashed this one

I bought this phone a month ago and the problems occurred about 20 days in. When texting a reply the phone will unexpectedly crash. It will shut off and have to restart again which takes about a minute. Now that it has been a month the phone will crash repeatedly throughout the day. Since the phone is only able to last 20 days you cannot return it. I hate this phone more and more everyday that I use it. I was looking for a cheap phone to last me a few months and this one will not even last two. I absolutely hate it and every time it crashes it leaves me wanting to throw it away. The phone is not worth the price. If you are thinking about this phone do not buy it. Whatever you do do not buy it.

    Great phone for texting teen

I bought this phone for my texting teens. One had had a similar phone before and likes this one much better (for the other, this was her first phone). The T-Mobile salesperson said this phone was bad because they didn't sell it in T-Mobile stores anymore, but it is exactly what my teens need so i grabbed two at Best Buy. With the full keyboard (which one daughter had before), it is great for texting. It has some limited Internet connectivity, but it is not a smart phone. However, my daughter is thrilled with the all the features she gets (radio, checking email, etc.) because she knows I won't get her a smart phone. And, I paid $35 for it so the price is right. My teens don't need a $200-$300 object to lose, break, or get stolen.

I got this phone to replace a stolen phone when I didn't have a lot of cash to drop. I had a blackberry clone that I really liked and I assumed this phone would be much worse as it was much cheaper. This phone really surprised me. Call quality is good. The thing that surprised me the most was some of the features I wouldn't expect on a phone like this. The biggest one is definitely the microSD card slot. Which means I can pack a microSD card with music/podcasts and listen on the go. The opera web browser is also surprisingly zippy and full featured. This phone is not an advanced smart phone, but if you're looking for something inexpensive this is a great option. I've been able to use this phone for talk/text/ face book, notes, voice recording, light web browsing and twitter. The camera leaves a lot to be desired but that price tag has gotta come from somewhere.

Phone shuts off unexpectedly while texting

I bought two of these...one for me and one for my son. We both loved the phones, but my son's started giving problems right away. While texting, the phone would completely drop service and then shut down for a minute or so, losing the text message. We took his back, and now mine started doing the same thing. The longer I have it, the more often it does it. I love the phone when it works, but I have to bring it back.

    Frequently reboots during texting

This thing reboots 2-5 times per week. Typically when typing a text. It likes to get most to the way through my text, then it reboots. Call quality is ok. Top row of keyboard is very hard to use. Contemplating sending back for warranty, but it sounds like the rebooting is just a common problem with this phone.

Would be good value if it worked properly

I purchased this phone to use with the Walmart Family Mobile plan because it has a qwerty keypad, to make texting easier, since the phone plan has unlimited texting. The first phone I bought had a defective key board. So, after a lot of phone calls and hassle, I made the mistake of replacing it 10 days later for the same model, despite some horrible reviews I read on line, just because I thought it was the best optiong for texting compared to the T-Mobile flip-open phone and the S100 upgrade option offered at Walmart (I know they also sell the Concord for $50, but one of the employees said that they had 9 returns of that phone in a week, so for that reason, I didn't choose the Concord). The transferring of the contacts to the second Sparq II phone was painful because the Family Mobile sim card only had storage for about 150 contacts. And since I had over 200, I had to add the rest manually. To make matters worse, the new phone broke-down all the contacts, so if one person had a cell, office and home numbers, I now had three contacts! I had to manually consolidate the numbers! And now, only 20 days later, the second T-Mobile Spark II is defective too. The Speaker Function stopped working. I am furious because I read other reviews that had similar sad stories with a bad ending, and I already know that the third phone will not be much better – maybe for the first 20 days :0( I will be on my way back to the store tomorrow morning to see what I can do under warranty. DO NOT buy this phone. Other annoying things about this phone: 1) Phone “goes to sleep” during calls. So, if you are making an interactive call such as checking the balance on your checking account, by the time you have to press a key to make a choice, the phone is “sleeping” and you need to press the key twice! 2) When you press the end key at the end of the conversation, you still have to press the Back key at least twice at the end of each call to go back to the main screen! There is more, I just don’t have the time right now. Hope this helps.

Lousy battery life and dials 911 constantly

This phone is not acceptable. Poor battery life, dials 911 constantly Best Buy has a very poor return policy, they would not accept this phone after 15 days and neither would Tmobile even though it has a design defect which allows it to dial 911 accidentally.

    Phone sucks

This phone keeps calling 911 on its own. Its obnoxious. There is no way to really lock it and it unlocks itself in my purse all the time and then dials 911. Additionally, it keeps resetting itself. I'll be in the middle of typing a text and it'll go black and then come back but my text won't be save. This has been happening repetitively lately and is very irritating. Can't wait to be done with this phone. I've only been using it for two months which has been way too long. Could never use it long term.

Even though the keypad is locked, the 1 and 9 are still active. This phone can dial 911 without you knowing it did, it has done it on me 2 days in a row just from being in my pant pocket. I'll be returning this phone.

From the minute I took it out of the box it crashes with every other text message. I wish I had returned it when I had the chance.
