I picked up the Tamron 70–180mm G2 mainly for shooting IndyCar, and I’m honestly blown away by how well it handled. The autofocus is super fast and locked onto the cars way better than I expected. Even at full zoom, the shots came out sharp with great colors and really smooth background blur. The biggest surprise for me is how light it is. I was walking the track and shooting all day, and my arms didn’t feel like they were falling off like they do with heavier 70–200 lenses. It balances really well on my Sony and doesn’t feel bulky at all. Low-light performance is also solid. During late afternoon practice sessions, the f/2.8 kept my shutter speeds high enough to freeze the cars without cranking ISO. Build quality feels sturdy, zoom ring is smooth, and the close-focus ability actually came in handy when taking detail shots in the paddock. For the price, this lens is honestly a steal. If you shoot sports, motorsports, or even portraits, this thing delivers. I’m super happy with it

This is the best lens that I have bought thus far. This focal range is very versatile. I have no problem tracking while using it to capture sports. The portraits that I have captured are very, very sharp, as well.

Lens is lightweight and has razor-sharp image capabilities. Much more affordable than a sony native with almost the same capabilities. Body feels sturdy and well made. Would highly recommend this product. These were taken on an a7iv with 2 weeks of experience.

I do photography and videography so when I get hired on and I don’t necessarily want to be up close with my 28-70 this thing really helps and packs a real punch with clarity. I love that it’s a constant 2.8 as well.

Really nice lens, took it out for some twilight sports shooting on a lit field and the performance was great.

The Tamron 70-180mm lens is PHENOMENAL!! The quality is just as good as a Sony lens for half the price!

I purchased the Tamron 70–180mm f/2.8 (G2) because reviews and feedbacks stated it’s an excellent lens for filming fast field sports like lacrosse. I second the great reviews. It’s also a great option for better lense for those on a budget. I appreciate the fast autofocus, sharp optics, and solid build. It has optical stabilization, all of which help track fast-moving athletes smoothly. It is on the heavier side so consider using a tripod when filming.

I picked this lense up from BB yesterday and tried it on my A7iii. Wow. I've taken 20 pics at varying distances and zoom levels, different apertures. Auto-focusing is quick and spot on, and image stabilization is fast and precise. These are all still shots in daylight, 2:00 pm. Amazing I can focus on very close subjects as well. Photos are very sharp and uniform. Beautifully made lense. It's not too heavy, just heavy enough to let you know there are 20 elements. I'm very pleased so far.

Clear images, wode aperture even when "zoomed in". Covers a very useful range. Only downside is focus is occasionally slow or off in low light environments.

I have paired this lens with both my Sony fx3 and a73 for still photography and it’s amazing. Clean and quick autofocus. It is the depth of field I need without breaking the bank buying the g master series.

I have several Tamron lenses and this is probably one of the best. Nice range of 70-108 mm and is tack sharp all the way through. You also have the added benefit of f2.8 to add great speed to the lens. I have used it to photograph indoor sports as well as outdoors wildlife with excellent results in both areas. For price and performance it would be hard to find a better deal on a great lens.

I was in between the 70-200mm and this one but honestly this one is amazing. Its fast with AF and takes great photos and video of sports.

Absolutely love this lens and the fact that it’s so much lighter than the sigma. It’s great for traveling and feels very natural in hand. And I would spring the extra dollars and get this one with VC in it. Makes a difference!!

Very impressed with this lens. Having a constant 2.8 aperture through the range was fantastic. How Tamron is able to do that and maintain the 67mm filter thread so we can share filters between multiple Tamron lenses is genius.

Sharpness: The lens delivers excellent sharpness across the frame, even at wide apertures. Bokeh: Produces pleasing background blur, enhancing subject isolation. Chromatic Aberration: Minimal to none, contributing to clean images.
