    Cate Blanchett is marvelous in this once in a lifetime role. Tar is a character study on the abuses of power and the consequences that come along with those abuses. Complex, intriguing, and absolutely impeccable. Wonderfully directed and the cinematography is phenomenal.

    Reminds me of Whiplash and the story makes a point that sometimes those of greatness have flaws, but their greatness should always outshine the thoughts of the modern era.

    One of the worse movies......EVER!!! First 7 minutes are credits, next hour and 15 minutes are soooo slow until the last 15 minutes of this 2 hour and 37 minutes movie. Entire gist of the movie: Cate Blanchett plays a female conductor that basically preys on younger female musicians, promising them positions in her orchestra or other orchestras, symphonies around the world. Do yourself a favor and read the synopsis online and that will save you from watching this ultra boring film. Yes, Cate Blanchett is a great actress and that's why I watched the entire movie. Destroying the DVD I bought.....wasted money and time watching this monstrosity.

    Beautiful film. Great work from Todd Field behind the camera and Cate Blanchett on screen. A very personal drama that almost certainly will keep being recognized in the months to come.
