At home, I always prop up the rear of a laptop to allow ample airflow for cooling, but I don’t have that at work. Just elevating on a porous surface helps, and the fan makes it better. Where my laptop would roar trying to keep cool, it hardly makes a peep now. Only down side is that it doesn’t have an on/off switch, so if you use a USB port that always has power (e.g., some docking stations), you have to physically unplug it to shut it off.

Posted .We do understand not wanting to take up a port on your laptop. I mean lets face ports are limited on most devices. However, I would recommend using a USB wall adapter.
