Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with no specific features of the AC Adapter. However, a significant concern revolves around the fit of the power cord, with customers reporting issues such as the plug not fitting securely into outlets or laptops, and occasionally falling out. The wall plug's design is also criticized for its incompatibility with some outlets. Improvements to the cord's design and plug fit are suggested.

The price dictates what you get...

It was the cheapest charger for my laptop that broke the night of an important paper. The plug doesn't fit well, but its a universal plug. the adaptors come off the charge line easily. If I am not watchful, I can lose the one piece that connects my latop to the cord. It has happened twice. But I do not think anyone should pay $100 for a charging cord especially when a new laptop can be as low as $300.

    Horrible....save your money!

This product is absolutely horrible! I do give them credit for supplying different adaptors for different computers, but the problem is that it does not fit snuggly into the connector for your computer. I like to sit with my laptop on the couch and you have to wiggle it into place and its constantly moving (even if you move a centimeter...not exaggerating) and then the computer dies because its not charging at all. An idea for Targus is to make the connecters snap into each other instead of just barely fitting into it. This product is expensive to begin with and definitely not worth the money! Trust me, it will save you a headache and lots of frustration!

    Stopped working after a while

I bought this charger for a Dell Inspiron 1501. I liked how it included different types of connections. It worked great the first couple of months, but after 9 months of use it has stopped charging my laptop. At first I thought it was my battery that had stopped working, so I bought a new battery, but now it is teling me it won't charge it either. I don't think it's worth the trouble. Don't buy. I'll rather spend more money on the original dell charger cause I know That one will work for sure.

Good charger - room for improvement

Charges as described. Plug is flat against charger body, so doesn't fit in all outlets. You have to order separate tips (some "free" with handling charge). In my first order, the iPhone tip worked fine...the Blackberry tip didn't. Not sure it's worth paying "handling" to order a replacement. Shame the chanrge doesn't also include a USB slot for charging.

great in an emergency but not long term

I needed a cord right away and bought this from a retail location. Sometimes the adapter tip slips off the end of the cord. I was annoyed that it cost nearly 3x as much as the original cord would cost if I had enough time to order one online. The adapter tips are not sold individually in the store, so when I broke the one I needed (it got smashed) I had to order one online. As a person somewhat concerned for the planet, I didn't like having extra tips with no use for them. I liked that the flatter unit took less space in my bag and didn't dent into my computer. Now it has quit working, and I've had it only 9 months. It has a 2 yr warranty but not for "wear and tear". The original cord lasted me 3 years, at a value of $10 per year. So the bottom line is that it was great that the store had something in stock that I could use, but not so great a value at about $10 per month of use.

    Great compact charger

Purchased this charger due to its small size to carry in my laptop bag. Before purchasing, I called Targus to ensure it would work while in the store, and they were prompt, friendly, and helpful. The size is perfect for traveling, the tip selection great, and it charges both laptop and Blackberry perfectly. As warned in the instructions, the charger does get quite warm, but did not seem to affect the charging ability. Terrific overall !!

    Good charger with useful features

This charger has several features I like. First, it is not a two piece design. There is not a big charging brick halfway from the wall to the computer. All of the mass is right at the wall. Second, the two outputs are useful when travelling. I can charge both my computer and phone/blackberry at the same time. Overall, I'm glad I spent a few dollars more on this unit over some of the other less expensive choices.

    A Quick Death

Just bought this today. My son used it for about 2 hours, heard a pop, and his laptop went out. We tried plugging the laptop and adapter into another outlet put no power is going to the laptop. The adapter is still warm--warmer than it should be. It was obviously drawing too much power. Now, we have to go through the hassle of going back to the store to exchange it for another one. We have no choice since this is the best reviewed of all Toshiba laptop-compatible adapters carried in the store.

    New & Improved

I like to keep a charger packed just for travel or getting away from the office. With a new computer my old Targus no longer worked. The new model is definitely an upgrade. For starters it automatically adjusts the wattage output to whatever you connect to plus it has two lines so you can charge your phone at the same time. The downside is that they no longer include a bag for the charger and tips; they want to sell that to you separately.

    Very Good Laptop Charger

I bought this today, because getting a back-up charger through the Laptop maker, is more costly and makes no sense, I mean really, it is just a charging device. Here's my assessment of this product:: Easy to use, does it's job perfectly, Very Good Laptop Charger by Targus. My only grief is, I paid 79.99, on this web site, it listed a 16.00 savings at a lesser price then the store listed it as, I only know this, because I just found out. I'll make a call to see if I will get the price credited to my form of payment made. If you need a charger for your laptop, buy this one, it's leaner, plus easy to tow away when not using.

Waste of money for Sony Vaio

The cord does not fit snuggly into the laptop and will fall out if you are not working on a flat surface. The wall plug is pathetic. I already bought a new Sony charger. Now if I can just find the receipt to return this piece of junk.
