Very functional after going through two cases

I went through a plastic slip case. That didn't work out because of the plastic smell. Then I bought a black silicon case. I used it for a month and realized that I needed something with more protection and provided better viewing angle options. While randomly browsing Best Buy I decided to look at the cases to see if anything new showed up. I saw this case and decided I should check it out. I went to BB and found only one there. I bought it thinking it looks decent. Lets just get to the gist of it. This case is very sturdy, so much that I feel like it will last a really long time. The inner padding is made of really hard cardboard. It almost feels like wood. It doesn't slip out or move around. All the ports and buttons are available. The power button is partially covered up but by no means is it difficult to push. With this case it actually feels more like a laptop. The only concern I have is the strap. It doesn't look very durable but only time can tell. I don't think I'll be using the strap that much so it doesn't matter. The other thing is wish it came with more color options. The blue doesn't look bad but I really wish there was a plain black case. I also wish the sides were covered up so that it doesn't get damaged when dropped at a weird angle or objects. But I guess that would make it harder to put in and take out. So, if you are looking for a case, don't even bother with the slip ons. This case will transform your iPad. It just looks like a leather book case. Don't waste your money on the cheap plastic ones, they just don't have many functions and don't protect well.

    Better than most!

I agree with everything the other reviewers have said already; excellent quality, extremely durable and very versatile. I also have to agree with the strange choice of interior colors. The blue is not a normal blue, but somewhere between teal and turqouise and almost neon in brightness. I would prefer the brown/orange case but it isn't sold in stores here, nor is it available online yet. Over all, after a couple weeks of research and accidentally stumbling on this case, it is the best one I have found, hands down. Not to be nitpicky, but nothing is perfect: Value - it is overpriced for what it is, but fair when compared to similar cases Appearance - interior color is just weird, black or gray would have been much better and it would match the iPad Ease of Use - the strap takes some getting used to Durability - one the sturdiest and best padded cases on the market, however, I am somewhat concerned with strap durability with heavy use

Well I based my purchase on the reviews from this website, and luckily for me - THEY'RE RIGHT! This is the best iPad case out there, much better than the extremely low-rated case made by apple. Everything about it is perfect, minus one SMALL detail, when you use as a kickstand the two angles it offers are sort of strange...although they suit me most of the time and work just fine. There have been a few times where I couldn't get the exact angle I wanted but more often than not this thing is great, and it protects the iPad amazingly! I STRONGLY SUGGEST THIS PURCHASE!

    Best iPad case to date.

This case is awesome. So far I’ve owned the Belkin rubber-like case. It was ok, but the buttons and connector slots did not line up well; furthermore it offered no protection for the screen. After that, I bought the Incase Book Jacket. The Incase model had a faux-leather exterior and seemed flimsy and cheap. My biggest problem with that case was that the iPad always wanted to move within the hold down frame. I was CONSTANTLY pushing it back into it the case and realigning the port holes. The Targus Truss has none of those issues. It protects the screen VERY WELL with thick padding. The exterior of the Targus Truss is leather and has a really nice feel and is extremely sturdy. The clips that hold the iPad in place keep it tight within the case and buttons and ports are always accessible. I have researched cases since the release of the iPad and in my opinion this is the best one available to date.

This is one of the best available. The price is higher than the mid-quality cases, but it's genuine leather at a synthetic price. Many leather units go for over $100. Its attractive and professional-looking. It protects my unit so much better than the Apple case and for only about $10 more. My only concern is the elastic strap. I'm not sure it's really needed to keep the unit closed and it might wear out and snap after continued use. But, overall, it much better than the Apple case.

Case is awesome. Not a huge fan of the weird blue color on the inside but overall the case does a great job of protecting my iPad. The stand feature works like a charm even when on your lap. I also bought the Targus pen which is a great purchase for $14.99. Will be looking at the brand first for future accessories.

I researched a LOT of covers/sleeves before purchasing the Targus case. Most of the ones I came across didn't appear to be as durable. And the customer reviews I read backed up this fact. The inside of the case is made of a soft, velvet-like material which provides nice protection on the front screen without risk of scratching. Also, this case carries like a business portfolio. Very professional looking. Not like...uhh hemm...the Apple case. :) Which, in my opinion, looks a bit cheap. Apple iPad = awesome. Apple iPad case = not so awesome. Just took it through an airport and it was easy to take the iPad out and put back in when going through security. Targus has the best iPad case on the market right now by far...

At first I thought this case was a little on the bulky side. That was until I mistakenly left my iPad (in the case) on top of my car one evening. The case flew off going about 40mph. I saw it flip multiple times on the ground so I know it took a beating. Surprisingly the case remained intact. The corners were very damaged and there was slight damage to the iPad screen and metal case. on 2 of the corners. I was prepared for the worst and was pleasantly surprised to find that the iPad still worked perfectly. In fact I'm using it to type this review. If you're tough on electronics or sometimes do stupid stuff like me, I highly recommend this case.

I purchased the Targus, and I absolutely love it. I feel my ipad gets better protection in this case, as well as I can stand it up in 2 different positions. It closes up and it looks like a book binder. Very sturdy, and not cheaply made. Much nice than the Ipad case for the bucks.

This case fits an iPad perfectly. It protects the unit, has a very professional and luxury looks. If you don't look carefully to it, you won't notice you have an iPad into it. Salesmen, more senior level executives and alike will enjoy the 'adult' looks of this case. The only problem I see is the lack of a cardholder and a place to insert a pen.

Great case that offers superior protection for the iPad. It has a soft and thick interior that seems it would give good shock absorbtion in case of a fall. The two standing angles are great for viewing video. Had the Apple case and I exchanged it for this one. I'm not regretting the decision. Professional appearance too.

Just picked up this case for my 32 GB iPad. Much more durable than the others at the store and, unlike the "inCase" option, this allows you to prop up the iPad for easy viewing on a desk or coffee table. Solid frame with leather casing and strap to keep it closed when on the go. Only thing I am not too sure about is the interior color but it was either blue or orange/brown.

The case is very nice with microfiber against the screen of the iPad. I like the security if the inside mounting with the exception that it is hard to get to the volume and sleep keys. I like the different viewing angles you can achieve with this case. I also like the weight of the case and I believe it gives the iPad better protection than the Apple case.

Throw out your flimsy cases and get yourself a Truss!!! It's leather for that professional look, super padded for great protection, and can be used as a stand which makes it practical. This case has full view for the screen, and access to all ports. Nicely done, Targus!

    Heavy & Bulky

The first thing I noticed when I picked this up from the lady at the In-Store Pickup counter: it's heavy! The specifications list the weight as 7.7oz, and that way off. I weighed this on a postal scale and it tips the scales at 1lb, 2.3oz, well over double what the listed weight is. Though it doesn't seem like much, when you add 18.3 oz to the already hefty iPad, you've got a lot of weight in your hands. This weight makes it quite burdensome to hold up for a long period of time, which I do fairly often as I read a lot on the train. Additionally, due to the leather and padding, the case is very bulky, and doesn't do the sleek iPad justice in that department. What I do like about the case, despite it's weight, is the on-lap setup. At it's least inclined, the angle of the screen is perfect. At it's most upright, it's great to set on a counter, open the Epicurious app, and start cooking. Overall, the case does what it's sold as doing. It's good looking, protects the iPad well, and offers several viewing options. Where it lacks is in weight, and bulk. I do believe this is a better case than Apple's offering, but only because it offers more viewing angle options. If the Apple case offered more angles for viewing, and kept its sleek look and light weight, we'd have a winner. In the case of the Truss, this is a must-have if you don't mind the size and weight, and want viewing angle options. Otherwise, keep looking.

It wasn't long after I got my iPad that I realized I'd need a case for using it while out and about. There are many cases out there, so it's not an easy decision to make. After doing much research, I decided on the Targus Truss. I'm so glad that I did. This case is extremely well made, comfortable to hold, sturdy, and looks great too. This may sound odd, but I find that I enjoy using my iPad even more when it is saddled inside this great leather case. The two-position stand is excellent for using the iPad beside your laptop or watching a movie. In the jungle of iPad cases out there, this is the trophy.

I wanted a case that I could take into executive meetings, yet was quite functional as well when sitting at home. This case is exactly that - very robust, sturdy and has a great look with the black textured leather. While a little heavy, I really don't mind a little extra weight so I can have a more durable case.

Interesting choice of colors but once you get over the cosmetic issue it's a darn good case. Sturdy, great workmanship, durable. It's a great quality product and is far superior to the neoprene case Apple sells and seems to be better quality than the Incase product. I'm very happy I took the time to research and actually compare the products in person. It made a huge difference.

A great case: I also have a question......

As others reviewers have said, this is one of the best Ipad cases out there. I have only on concern: How will this case function on a plane? My question concerns its usability, i.e. how well does it fit on the tray in front of the passenger seat, how stable is the case when watching videos, and will the case stow in the front compartment (the magazine compartment) when not in use. This is a concern as passengers are not permitted to hold any loose items when taking off and landing. Thanks for your help, Dan
