De Niro, and the rest of the cast, do a serviceable job in this micro-cosmic window into the life of Travis Bickle--a Vietnam vet--who, true, writes mind-numbing entries in his diary,

I would of thought they would have spent more time on this one. Lots of grain on 60" 4k tv. Using 4k blu-ray player.

The movie is well done, but not the iconic film many critics seem to think.

Both this copy and the previous one exchanged for on this same title - Taxi Driver, wouldn't load on my RV's brand new Sony DVD. It did load and play on my in-the-house blue-ray machine.

This movie was so not what I thought it would be. Acting was decent, but the plot and ending left much to be desired. But then again, the movie is like 30 yrs old. Don't waste your money.

Classic film featuring a young Robert DeNiro

Told from a restricted narrative, Taxi Driver is a character study of a disturbed young man named Travis Bickle. He takes a job with a taxi company, explaining that he'll go anywhere in the city and pick up anyone. Meanwhile, he attempts to court a beautiful young woman working for a political campaign and later meets a young girl who is in trouble. This is a movie made with adults in mind, with dark and bleak scenarios of seedy characters living in the city, yet care and thought was put into every scene. There are many books and writers who have taken time to better describe why this is a quality movie. The Blu-Ray transfer looks fantastic and Bernard Herrmann's score does a perfect job of evoking the tone of the movie (I enjoy listening through headphones). There are also tons of features that I've yet to watch through, but look forward to when I find the time. Highly recommended.

#1 thing to do before you die: watch this movie

This movie is absolutely incredible. This is what a real movie is. It stars Robert De Niro It stars Jodie Foster It's directed by Martin Scorsese It made all 3 people instantly famous This movie is about loneliness, depression, and anger against the ways of society. You can personally connect with the character in the movie, and even though it's over 30 years old, it's still as applicable today as it was in the late 70's. Watching this movie will change the way you look at life.

The picture quality is incredible (you wouldn't think the movie was 35 years old), and there are tons of bonus features, including three commentary tracks, one of which was recorded for Criterion's LaserDisc in 1990 (the back cover says it's from '86, but Scorsese mentions his "new" movie "Goodfellas"). Oh, and the movie's a classic, one everyone should see at least twice.
