Do not purchase this television. Short version: 1) The user interface has issues that are widespread and searchable/verifiable on the web that make this a defective User Interface. 2) There is an unnecessarily difficult Administrative/Password and User Profile system that prevents simple adjustments to Video, Audio, and Device Settings for accounts that are not the Administrator. 3) This uses the Google TV OS, which goes above and beyond the necessity of a Smart TV User Interface. The detailed version: This TV has the single most infuriating UI to deal with, that, in spite of the panel's quality and the low price for what you get, I returned it after having already mounted it and spent nearly an hour pushing forward through the adversarial nature of UI to set up the Apps. Following my daughter's Samsung dying after about 5 years of ownership, It my was my intention to give TCL a chance, seeing as how I had heard good things about their panels and the price was lower than a Samsung for similar specs. This was a huge mistake. I was unaware of the "parental system" built ito the Google TV operating system, and you cannot get around this if you manage a child's Google account. I have a 14 year old daughter who has a Google account, which her mom and I both manage and have never had an issues with, regarding setting up new devices for her to use. Evidently, you cannot setup this TV with a "kids" account--you must first set it up with your personal (parental) account, then add the child as another user, effectively making you the Administrator of this TV. To access Video and Audio settings (such as Brightness, Optical Audio Out, etc), you must switch to the Administrator account, but only after entering a PIN. Upon switching back to my daughter's account, I was faced with a UI bug, wherein she was signed out of YouTube, and when I selected her name, the interface was unresponsive when trying to confirm the login (this is an actual unresolved bug that you can search for on the web and find forum post about it). The solution: uninstall the YouTube App, then re-install it and log her back in (which is a whole process involving approving the sign in for both my daughter and myself). This must be done every time I switch from one account to another... I've been using technology that utilizes operating systems like Window, Mac or Android for over 30 years. I'm also game developer, and part of my job is to design and code User Interfaces--I know what I'm doing, and I know when something like this is fundamentally broken. I've never been so angry over a product that should be exceeding simple to get right. This is inexcusable (in this day and age) and TCL does NOT deserve your money.
