I’m very happy overall with this TV’s picture quality. Dolby vision content looks amazing and the TV is super bright. There are some software issues however. For some reason it took a little while for the TV to recognize my Sonos Arc through the eARC and was reading it as ARC for some reason. But after a few tries it is working right and I’m getting Dolby Atmos when available. HBO MAX doesn’t play Dolby Vision content on the Google TV and just freezes (however it works great when using my Apple TV). There is a CEC issue where I can turn on my tv from the Apple TV remote but when I shut it off through the same remote it doesn’t work and I have to reach to the TCL remote to shut the TV off. The one weird thing is when playing content through my Apple TV that is 5.1 (not Dolby Atmos or stereo) the TV sends the audio as stereo to my Sonos Arc and I lose the speech channel. Meaning, I can hear music but no speech. 5.1 content works fine through Google TV. I’m not sure if this is an Apple TV issue, Sonos issue, or TCL issue. Other reviewers have mentioned some other software issues that I agree with. I decided to give this TV 5 stars because despite these issues I am very pleased with the picture quality and by shifting between Google TV and Apple TV I get the content I want. I’m hopeful they will fix the software issues via updates in the near future.

I won the panel lottery. The image is stunning! Closest to Oled that I've ever seen on an LED TV. The reason I can't give this TV 5 stars is because of the software issues. The volume when using the remote control gets stuck and will go all the way up or all the way down and I have to use my AV receiver remote to stop it from blowing out my speakers. The picture settings constantly switch by themselves and do not maintain the values that I have set for each setting. When watching YouTube videos the television consistently shows HDR-10 every time a video pops up. I don't need to see this every time a different video comes on. And probably the most significant issue is that although the TV says it is receiving an Atmos signal, It is not outputting a Dolby Atmos signal to my receiver. It doesn't matter if it is incoming video from YouTube, Vudu or a 4K Blu-ray disc going through the TV. You have to connect directly to the receiver and not through the television to output a Dolby Atmos signal. Furthermore TCL's customer service has been of no help at all and keeps asking me to send videos. Every time I try to upload a video it says the video file is too large. I have tried again and again to reduce the video size to meet their maximum requirements which are not listed. They keep saying that it is my equipment. It is not. Dolby Atmos is decoded and outputted without any issues when using my Xbox One x, my older television or any other device running through my receiver the issue only occurs when using the television. That being said if you can live with these glitches and you win the panel lottery like I did, the picture is astounding.

This is a challenging review to write. The picture quality on this TV is incredible. However, the software user interface seems not so well thought out. For example, there is no way to change picture settings for SDR, HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision unless you are currently playing content in that format. In other words, you have to change the picture settings for each This also applies to audio settings and different audio formats. There are also random gremlins that pop up that require hard resets. There are also HDMI CEC implementation issues. The current Google TV Disney plus app on this TV does not output Dolby Atmos (but probably will at some point). Harmony does not have a fully functional set of commands for this TV in their database. All of that said, this TV offers a stunning picture and a lot of features for the money. TCL has been good about updating firmware to resolve this TV's issues. When it works, the Google TV interface is pretty slick. I think if you are a gamer who likes to tinker and you do not have an unlimited budget, this is an excellent option. If you want a TV that is nearly perfect out of the box for mostly streaming and OTA broadcasts, then you may want to look elsewhere.

This tv is amazing once you get the settings tweaked and should get even better from future updates. That being said the biggest annoyance is the buggy software at times and local dimming algorithm hoping future updates will fix these

I've had a Sony 75x90j for a month, and I just picked up this set 2 days ago. The TCL is definitely brighter than the Sony.
Where the TCL fails is the bugginess of the software.
1. Sometimes the picture mode is reset to Vivid.
2. Something caused the TV to log out of all of my accounts. (I think it was one of the TCL cleanup apps).
3. Plex refuses to play any 4k videos.
4. HDR+ videos from Amazon Prime Video look extremely dark and washed out. HDR+ looks great on my Sony. Even HDR+ from a Fire 4k Max looks bad, so I believe the HDR+ implementation on the TCL is to blame.
Even with these bugs, I'm keeping the set because most of the content I watch is not encoded with HDR+. I'm hoping the software will get better over time.

This tv is 1 update away from being a steal. So the picture is amazing don’t worry about image quality of motion blur. But it’s the little things that separates this tv from a Samsung or a Sony. My previous Tv was as Samsung LED and I have Sonos arc sound bar and a Apple TV. What I loved was that the Apple TV remote turned on everything and controlled the volume of the soundbar it was awesome. You would think that a new Tv would be able to perform the same functions but no. For whatever reason the Apple TV no longer controls the volume of the soundbar, I have to use the TCL remote or the Sonos app to adjust the volume when using the Apple TV. The other little difference with this tv is the amount of time it takes to turn the tv on and for the tv to turn to the correct input.
I understand these are little annoyances but I feel like this the difference between TCL and Sony or Samsung.
That being said I still love the tv and picture is amazing.

The TCL-75" Class 6 series has been one of the best TVs I have ever owned! Trust, I have and had many! Some pushing this Mini-LED 4k Monster a bit for eye watering perfection, but nothing, NOTHING, comes close in the bang for buck category! Put that overpriced Samsung back on the shelf! Wish I did.... Could have bought two of these

So far after owning for a year this TV has done great. No real issues. Pictures are amazing.

I purchased this TV to replace a 55" TCL TV that was several years old. I was looking for something bigger with the latest tech—and this TV delivered!
First and foremost, the picture is simply awesome. TCL’s Mini-LED technology is no joke. The 6-Series delivers incredible brightness and really amazing contrast, helped by local dimming and HDR support including Dolby Vision. I can say confidently that TCL’s Mini-LED tech easily rivals the OLED offerings that I also looking at while shopping.
My son is a gamer and he benefitted from the upgrade too. With an array of gaming features like Variable Refresh Rate, 4K resolution at 120Hz, low input lag, and Auto Game Mode, this TV was the perfect complement to my son’s newest Xbox. Graphics are simply stunning and game-play is buttery smooth. I personally love the Auto Game Mode feature that puts the TV in the best settings for gaming automatically when my son is playing, but then reverts to the previous picture settings I had when I take control of the TV to stream a movie. I don’t have to do anything, the TV is just ready to perform it’s best no matter what content you throw at it!
I have to admit the Google TV interface was an adjustment. As a long-time TCL Roku TV user, Google TV was a completely different experience that I had to get used to. However, after a while, I quickly fell in love with it! It’s really clever how it pulls in content from all your streaming services, makes recommendations, and just helps you find new stuff to watch. Everything I’m watching is front and center, regardless of where I’m streaming it from. When I’m watching a TV series with my wife, I won’t have to remember which app to go into when we want to pick it up again a couple nights later—the next episode is right on my home screen ready to be watched!
I really love how Google Assistant is built-in and I can call on my assistant hands-free. I’m already a fan and heavy user of Google products and services, so that made the transition to Google TV even easier. The integrations with Google services is great too. For example, I have Nest cameras around my house and whenever someone rings the doorbell, I can quickly see who’s at the front door right on the big-screen!
Last but not least, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention what a value this TV is. Between the quality of the picture, the fit and finish of the hardware, the smart capabilities, and the sheer size, my purchase was well worth it.

First and foremost, this review was NOT BOUGHT AND PAID FOR like the VAST MAJORITY are these days. This television replaced a 2011 60" plasma, so maybe I'm easily impressed, but the improvement was remarkable. No reflective screen, inky blacks, better resolution, better color, HDR. Picture quality does noticeably degrade once you get beyond about 30 degrees off center. The only reason I'm giving four stars is that 1) I don't like that googleTV is "recommending" things that are on paid channels that I'm not subscribed to, 2) My previous TV had 3D; why can't this one? 3) I'm very stingy with five-star reviews, as the vast majority of those are bought and paid for.

Very very happy with the TV, but it's not perfect, and I didn't expect it to be.
Image quality is top notch. I watched some LG OLED demos on YouTube and could not imagine a need for deeper blacks or more vibrant colors.
But... Problem is the Google TV interface. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Google TV. It even has a picture slideshow screen saver which was a really nice surprise feature. The usual stuff like YouTube, Disney plus, hbomax, all are at a button's press away and it's awesome. Problem is that I am used to high end gadgets that are responsive and snappy. I like to navigate through things quickly, and I am slightly disappointed by how slow the interface is. I have a 3 year old mid range gaming PC and a 2 year old flagship smartphone, and this Google TV interface feels slow like my 10 year old samsung tablet which still has an amazing screen, but is just too slow and gets in my way. It's laggy. I mostly likely will end up using something like a ps or xbox or connect my gaming pc to use instead of the built in Google TV. It probably isn't realistic to expect a 1300$ TV to perform with the same processing power as a dedicated 1500$ computer. But it is what it is, just wished it was faster.
Again, I am very very happy with the image quality, and has met my expectations.

The image on this panel is GORGEOUS, but getting HDMI inputs to work was a project in itself. I had to use 4k/8k certified cables even on devices that only output 1080p or else the image would drop or flicker sporadically. We also weren't fans of the Google TV interface and layout, and thought it to be too bloated and confusing. Some settings are in very strange places and that led to more troubleshooting and searching than we though was really needed.

If you are paying more for a Samsung, Sony, or LG, Etc oh, then you are getting ripped off.
You would have to go to OLED to get a slightly better picture. None of the micro LED televisions have a superior picture to this television. It has 4K 120 hertz refresh rate and variable refresh rate for gamers.
Not only is it the best dollar-for-dollar television you can buy, it may just be the very best non OLED TV on the market.

Great TV out of the box! I bought the 75 inch and the picture quality is fantastic. I’m sure it would be even better with a pro calibration. Motion on gaming is great and sports look amazing. However, its not an OLED but you’re not buying this TV to try and compete with an OLED. I really like Google tv and it’s very easy to navigate through apps. Google TV can be little buggy at times but it will get fixed with a future update from TCL. The speakers on the tv are nice Overall this TV is awesome for the price and I’m really happy with it.

Picture is PHENOMINAL, however - it is slightly buggy - even after the system being updated. Occasionally the TV will just shut off and cannot be turned on unless we unplug the TV, count to 60, and plug in again.
I'm sure this will be fixed in a future software update, but it's slightly annoying.

The good: the picture is really nice on regular 1080 tv. YouTube via laptop is nice too. Have not tested any true 4K yet.
The very bad: the software is almost useless, even for YouTube. The remote is very poor. 480 old tv content looks unbelievably terrible.
You would think there would be a mandatory refund or a class action law suit about something this bad. I think Best Buy and TCL no longer sell the R646 anymore
