I watched many review video on YouTube before buy this TV. The TV installed yesterday. The picture quality give me a big surprise, so good. I watched a movie with my wife yesterday using this TV, the experience is fantastic, we loved it so much. I can't believe we can buy such good TV with under $10,000. The similar Samsung TV will be $15,000. I saw some people questioned about EARC port only 60hz. I think it is just for EARC port is far enough. The TV has two HDMI 2.1 port, one for 4k 144Hz, one for 4k 120 Hz. Two 2.0 port both 4K 60 HZ and one of them is eARC port. I strongly suggest people to buy this TV if you have enough budget and space.

Great picture but Best buy dropped my TV. Now my picture pixelate when I go search for different apps and sometimes there is a line at the bottom. I wish they'd let me upload videos so now Best buy would get five stars but now they don't get three.

I've had this TV for a little over a year and it was great until.... it started developing dirty screen effect lines about 6 months ago. I've contacted best buy and they're going to replace it under warranty.

This is for the TCL QM8 98" TV. I've had this TV for just a day now, but me and my kid have been staring at the 4k video that's on YouTube the entire time. We can't stop involuntarily saying, "Whoa!" The colors just pop. The contrast and resolution is amazing. Brightness is good enough for even a sunlight lit room. It's like the first time I saw 1080p, the same feeling. I'm coming from a 2010 Panasonic plasma 54" HDTV. This just blows it away.
Don't worry too much about the negatives some advanced reviewers dwell on. There's no problem viewing off-angle. There's no problem with SD content upscaling. There's no problem with specular highlights or colors being too saturated. Motion looks smooth to me, not jittery like some reviewers mentioned. No real blooming to worry about. The average person will not care one bit about any of those things, especially since you don't have a "perfect" TV sitting next to it to compare it to. There were no dead pixels, by the way. Sound actually was very good, surprisingly. You could actually get away without using an external audio system.
The only negative I'm going to say about this TV is that there are sometimes noticeable vertical bands that I'll see particularly up along the top edge of the screen when the content is just plain white, grey, or maybe a light blue sky that stays there for a while. See the attached image that I uploaded. It was even hard to get a photo of it, because it's hard for the camera to see.
The bands upset me at first, and I wondered whether or not I should return the TV. Once you see them, you tend to look for them, and you'll see them more. But after googling it and finding out that this is a problem with all LCD TV's to some degree, I've decided not to worry about it. It doesn't affect normal viewing, in my opinion. And if you didn't know they were there, you probably wouldn't see them. They're completely invisible when you have moving imagery or dark scenes.
These are "dirty screen effect" artifacts as a result of just how they manufacture LCD panels. And they say they're more pronounced in 75 inch screens and above. You won't tend to get those in OLED TV's, from what I gather. But in OLED TV's, you get screen burn-in, which is a lot worse in my opinion (my plasma TV had some burn-in this entire time, so I know).
Just don't point it out to anyone, and they won't see it. Room light reflection on the screen even in a dimly lit room is more pronounced than these vertical band artifacts, and it's easy to confuse the two if you're not staring at a particular place on the screen.
Overall, I think it deserves 5 stars. If you're on the fence between this and, say, the Sony X90L, I recommend getting this one. While the Sony does have better reviews showing better image and motion processing with better color representation and slightly better black detail, it's lost on the average viewer. To the average person, this TV is going to have more pop to it than the Sony. It seems brighter and more vibrant. When the Sony X95L or better comes out in 98 inches, that might be the one to get, since it's a mini-LED TV just like this one. But you know it's going to be a lot more expensive than this one.
So this is the winner in my opinion. Just enjoy it and don't go looking too closely for issues. The picture is really beautiful. It will amaze all your guests. And you'll have a lot of great movie nights with your friends and family.

Just bought this TV and had it installed in my home theater. Best Buy Geek Squad service/installation was excellent. The TCL QM8, not so much. I bought this based on online reviews and the price. TCL QC must be hit or miss. My set has excessive dirty screen effect, and the motion blur makes watching sports unbearable. So disappointed. The eArc is only HDMI 2.0 @ 60 hz!! Why would you do that TCL, especially on your "flagship"? Looks like I will be going to a Samsung Neo QLED.

Tv sheer size is amazing all in itself. Picture quality depends on content. HDR sources look amazing, blacks are near OLED quality. All in all a great tv I am having issues with my HDMI connections and with Bluetooth not working properly. But I just need to take the time to figure it out. That is why only 4 stars.

Huge screen is fantastic. Summer setup issues that I s resolved by checking online forums. One issue that persisted until yesterday was a flicker on the bottom half of the screen. Again, online forums already had solutions and I think that flicker is gone. I'm not a gamer so I can't comment about the game feature. 4k hdr10. And Colby Atmos is amazing.

I bought the 98” TCL TV, along with 9 other TV’s for my newly built house . They came out to install all the TV’s but the wall mounting bracket they supplied wouldn’t work on the 98” TV. They sent me a link to a Best Buy online TV mount that they said would work. 2 weeks later they came out to install it but again it wasn’t the right mount. The Geek squad member talked to the store manager who said they would expedite the right mounting bracket and come install the TV in a few days. Now it’s 10 days later and despite 2 hours on the phone with an offshore Geek squad member that barely spoke English and 90 minutes in the store I still have no mounted 98” TV. It’s laying in the middle of the family room floor and we start moving in next week!! Help

Look, there are definitely better tv's...but they are also more than double the price. For the price, there isnt better value in the 98" game. Clear, color pops, speakers are solid as well (currently running without any additional speakers).
