After having for a week, this TV has exceeded my expectations. The software is smooth, great UI, picture quality for the size is great.

This 98” TCL QM9K is the best TV except the $20,000. to 25,000. LG G4 or G5. Get it now. I am 81 and have ONLY ever had the best TV’s Sony, LG. This makes OLED look inferior! This TV is way past addictive. You will never leave it!’ The only problem is BestBuy - they are a NIGHTMARE!!!

I am moving from a 85 inch 8k samsung TV and this TV is an improvement despite less pixels. The picture is birighter and the colors pop even more. It is juas sharp from 5 feet away annd much more immersive at 98 inches. Combnined with fancy leds and it is a game changer!

TCL has delivered a worthy high contrast mini LED TV. It is bright and has little noticeable bloom due to the enormous number of dimming zones. Side-angle views are near OLED performance. Adjust the settings to match your viewing style and room layout. Pair it with your home audio system and you will enjoy the setup.

Great non-OLED TV. If you need size at this price this is the way to go. If you want mat picture quality over size at this price go OLED. I had them side by side and the OLED quality is king and the contrast was stark! If they weren’t side by side this TV would be awesome. Sound is the best of any TV I have ever heard.

This new TCL 98” QM9K Series 4K UHD HDR QD-Mini LED Smart TV with Google TV is a spectacularly extra large TV that is miles ahead of the competition. From the moment you turn it on until the final seconds before you go to sleep at night, you will be throughly impressed. The picture quality is eye candy and can become highly addictive. I am warning you up front that you could get spoiled watching your favorite content on this TV. Watching content on the this TV may inspire you to go back and rewatch some of your old favorite TV shows and movies just to see if you will see them in a whole new light, pun intended. You might want to compare the visuals to what you remembered when you originally watched content on your old TV. You will not be disappointed. Anything less than five stars for this TV is borderline disrespectful. This is not exaggeration. This is admiration and congratulations to TCL for a job well done designing this TV. There’s a reason why the NFL chose TCL as their official partner. I’ve had my new TCL TV for about three weeks and I couldn’t be happier. I am beyond pleased with its’ performance from start to finish. I have rarely been this excited to let folks know about a product I just got but also more eggar to get back to it. I had the TV delivered to my home and it took two people to move it from my garage to the living room where I planned to place it. The TV arrived well packaged and did not sustain any damage during the delivery. Once I began to unpack TV and take it out of the box that it was shipped in, I found the instructions printed on the box to be helpful in getting me started. I opened the box and a quick start guide was right where I needed it so I was able to begin right away. I followed the instructions and put the TV legs (stand) on the bottom and plugged the TV in. This TV is on the heavy side and weighs about 124lbs without the stand, but it’s to be expected when considering how much is needed for mini LED TV’s and its capabilities. It is not like OLED TV’s that tend to me thinner and lighter. But I will gladly sacrifice a little thickness and weight for a better performing TV that not only meets, but exceeds my expectations. Two weeks later I put it on the wall, This TV is so large that you can actually enjoy watching content with the TV on the floor and not on a table or the wall. There is no need for me to list all of the specs for this TV because you can easily find that information for yourself. What I want to share with you is my personal experience and why I think I may have found the TV of my dreams. I’ve always wanted an extra large TV. I currently own an 85” but it didn’t give me that large TV feeling, well it did at first but that quickly wore off after a couple months. However, this 98” looks and feels large. It looks larger than life. TCL highlights the TV has “ZeroBorder™*” and for the most part it does. There is only a very small lip around the edges. The TV is a little thicker than I expected, but I won’t be looking at the TV from the side and looking at the TV with the “zero border” it appears to be thin which allows me to focus on what’s on the screen and now what’s containing it. I love the TV remote. It looks expensive, it is not heavy, and is easy to hold in hand. The remote has a really nice lighting feature that automatically lights up when you touch it and turns off within 30 seconds of no use when you no longer need it. The quick launch buttons are perfect choices for me; Netflix, Prime, and YouTube. I could have had one or even three more quick buttons. The majority of the buttons on the remote are very useful for quick access. I’m only missing a direct button for a timer/sleep. But I was able to find the sleep feature under the menu button and I quickly pulled it up via all the TV settings. The Sleep Timer has great incremental set times. Instead of half hours and hours, you can use increments of 10 minutes, which is very thoughtful. As a matter of fact, a lot of thought was put into this TV in general and it shows. I appreciate the ability to use Google and or Alexa to control the TV. The TV also has Gemini and allows you to control your TV without the remote. This is one of the first TV’s that has Gemini built-in. It’s still learning and has a ways to go, but I like that I can speak to it in a natural conversational voice and it understands me and what I want and replies in a natural voice. It doesn’t sound or feel like you’re having a conversation with a computer and it’s pretty accurate the first time. Rarely do I have to repeat myself for clarification. I like to test everything when I’m investing my resources and time into a product and I sent this TV through all the tests. I connected just about device I own to this TV except a game console because I don’t play games. But with a 144Hz it’s gonna be more than enough for most gamers. I was instructed to download the TCL Home app to get started and that’s what I did. At first I had an issue with connecting my phone to the TV via the TCL app, but even that worked the next day without me doing anything so I’ll have to assume that it was human error on my part. I was guided throughout the entire setting up process and didn’t need to contact customer service for any additional help. You are able to use that same TCL app to control the TV as a secondary remote. I was hard pressed to find something that didn’t work on this TV; I’m sure there is something, but I just couldn’t find it. I connected an Apple TV, Chromecast, Fire-stick, and a 4K player and everything connected right away and worked seamlessly. The TCL identified the all of the devices, labeled them and acknowledged its capabilities right away (Dolby, HDR 10, etc.). CEC worked without issue. I am able to use one remote to control all the devices, sans the 4K player, and did not have to do anything to set them up or to control the device. The TV shows and movies show a lot of color and you’re able to see the HDR 10 capabilities. I like that each time you display programming it lets you know the streaming content so I easily know if I’m actually getting HDR 10, Dolby, etc. With that thin boarder, Images pop off the screen. I don’t have to rush to get my glasses to see what’s going on or details in a specific scene. It displays a nice edge to edge picture. It makes viewing much more immersive. There is good off-angle viewing so everyone has a good view of the content you are watching and all the seats in the house are “good” seats. Not only is the picture quality superb, but the sound coming out of the TV sounds great! The built in audio is provided by BANG & OLUFSEN. With this sound, you don’t necessarily need surround sound unless you prefer it. There are lots of choices for sound and you can chose internal speaker and subwoofer. I also connected my AV surround sound system to the TCL via Bluetooth and it is currently connected via HDMI eARC and it is working seamlessly. The “CrystGlow WHVA Panel” works well with all the lighting that comes into my living room. There is less glare than my other TV, there is no rainbow effect from the sun or indoor lighting, can see some mirroring effects at certain angles but none is too annoying that you can’t see or enjoy your content and after a few minutes you forget about it. I have a lot of large windows and a lot of natural light shines brightly throughout the room. The local dimming built into the TV works perfectly with the higher brightness. It controls the lighting and local dimming based on my lighting settings and does all of this automatically. It’s kinda cool to see what happens when you open the drapes or turn on lights when the TV is playing. You can literally see the TV automatically adjusting to fit your lighting environment. You can actually see the TV getting brighter or darker based on the lighting in the room. When I turn the lights off, the TV slowly gets darker and the opposite when I turn the lights on. It’s all done automatically. The colors are sharp and smooth. The TV was able to handle all of the color gamut tests and images I found on YouTube and beyond. I tested it with content made for OLED TV’s. The native 144hz refresh rate ensures that you can watch face movie images on your TV with no issue. I tested it watching fast-paced action movies and sports and saw no lag. The TV processor works well. I’m able to switch between applications and input with ease. There is very little lag or waiting. Content is there when you are ready to watch it. The blooming is almost non existing no matter how bright the TV gets and the blacks are black. Really dark scenes still show a lot of detail, unlike my previous television. Google TV is built in and made finding my content easy. I do own other streaming devices, but I didn’t have to connect them to access my content as Google TV allowed me to access all of the apps I use, including local TV. I didn’t feel like I needed to close and open multiple apps to get to what I wanted to watch. There were plenty of shows and moves recommended based on what I like to watch. This was possible because I have a Google account with my profile so everything was transferred over. The TV has 54gb of onboard storage. This allows for lots of apps and updates without having to delete apps and data you still use and or want to keep. The price could be an issue as it costs a few thousand dollars. The thickness of the TV could be an issue as could the weight could be another issue. But there are times when we need to sacrifice a little to get a lot. However, you’re not sacrificing much and your gaining so much more. You will quickly discover the pros clearly exceed the cons, if any. If you’re looking for a large TV, but don’t want to use a projector for your daily viewing, this TV might be the one for you. It most certainly is for me. Anything less than five stars for this TV is borderline disrespectful.

Excellent TV, Excellent Service, Best Buy Did A Fantastic Job!

The TCL 98 inch QM9K is a 4K Mini LED tv with approximately 6000 local dimming zones and a very high HDR peak brightness. As such it is capable of delivering a great picture in a bright room and providing HDR that really stands out. It is also one of the very few tvs that uses Google Gemini with the Google TV operating system. I have used Samsung and LG OLED tvs for several years, so I was interested to see how the QM9K compared to these for picture quality, sports motion, and overall usefulness and ease of use. These tvs were 77 inch and 55 inch, respectively, so I also wanted to evaluate the impact of a much larger tv on my viewing experience. Based upon my limited use, I would say that the picture quality of the QM9K is equal to the OLEDs in most situations and superior to them in bright rooms. HDR is also superior and the added peak brightness gives it more pop. There are a couple of exceptions. HDR content on the QM9K sometimes can be dark in dark scenes and motion handling for sports could be improved (this may be subjective). The large 98 inch size also creates a more immersive experience. I also found that Google Gemini was extremely useful and lead to a much more enjoyable overall experience. Your evaluation of Google Gemini may vary based upon how much you use it. Overall, I recommend the QM9K as a large tv that provides a high quality and enjoyable experience.

The TV is great and we love it. Unfortunately, the remote is not the most responsive.

Great tv at a great price. Display is nearly on par with Oled
