Bought this Teac and am kind of pleased. I lost my subwoofer when I set it up, can't get it back. Music does not play well, but can't figure it out. (I have a semi-serious system and have set up many components) When playing it's extremely distorted, then using through-put on system, it's better, but must increase volume to obscene levels to hear it, but then distorted a different way. Using headphones, the system plays well, but I can't sort out my receiver and system to play via speakers. Multiple calls to Magnolia and texts/online chats, to no avail. It's holidays, but I started before Christmas and again today the 26th-they're open, but can't get through their phone system and chat is worthless. Terrible support/follow up from Best Buy. Why I gave up my silver status a couple of years ago....
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The first thing to point out is the exceptional build quality. From the aluminum to the wood laminate it feels heavy and quite vintage apart from the very few pieces of plastic. It really is a beautiful turntable.
As for the sound: it is great! Balanced with sparkling highs and tight low end. The inboard pre is solid, which surprised me, though still by-passable for upgrade if you wish.
Cartridge is the AT95 which is a very good value but is upgradable as well.
If you are looking for a beautiful manual turntable that sound great and is under 500 pick it up!
