Great sound quality but I frequently had charging issues with these until eventually the case stopped holding any charge.

Nice balanced sound top to bottom. The only drawback is that the buds are really small and difficult to handle out of your ears. A little pricey but worth it for this level of sound.

Great pair of earbuds. Provides deep rich sound quality as any high end audiophile headphone would. Good solid quality and on par (if not better) with all of the other major name brands.

Let me start by saying that if you are looking for premium ANC earbuds for commuting, these are not for you. They do an ok job filtering the lowest frequencies, but anything higher than, probably a few hundred Hz, no dice. While waiting for my train, passing trains completely drown out my music (I actually feel like the train noise is being piped in through the buds). On the train I hear every creak, bump, etc. I can clearly hear announcements. And conversations are audible (though not always intelligible). Additionally, while walking with ANC enabled, even a light breeze rumbles through the earbuds (absolutely no wind suppression). It's a shame because the sound quality is excellent. Unfortunately, that's about the only real positive I can report. These buds ship with 7 ear tips sizes - which gave me hope that I would find a good fit. It's unfortunate that 5 of the 7 are medium and smaller. And the "large" and "x-large" just aren't. And, before you say that's why the ANC is not effective, I have premium silicone tips that seal well and pass the app's fit test. Speaking of the app, though powerful, it is unnecessarily complicated. For instance, there are two different places to set the strength of the ANC (overall strength and, as best I can figure, a frequency filter). The one good thing about the app is the ability to customize the tap controls. I own an almost two year old pair of Sony WF- 1000XM4 that I'm looking to replace. They have very good audio (though not as good as the Technics) and very good ANC (perhaps not quite as good as the current Bose QC2, but pretty close). But overall they check more boxes than the current crop of premium (EXPENSIVE) ANC earbuds I've tried.

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I am quite pleased with these Technics EAH-AZ80arbuds. I may be a bit generous, but I have awarded them five stars. I could have given them 4.5 if possible (see details below), but they do everything well so I have upped it to a 5. They sound great and are full sounding. They are at least better than all buds I have (and I have had over a half dozen of them). The controls are very good and customizable, but I am demanding here and would like to see a bit more customization. The ANC is very good, but probably not as good as buds from some other manufacturers of premium priced buds. Due to an injury, I could not run with them, but I used them extensively in a gym and on cardio machines. The buds stayed firmly in place and are comfortable, but they are a bit heavier and larger than some of my other buds so I do wonder how I would do with them on a long run. Given their IPX4 rating, I am not concerned with my excessive perspiration. DETAILS: Packaging/Contents: The small box came with a small Quick Start Guide (QSG) sheet and a very thick safety and warranty card with very small printing. There are QR codes for the Android and ios apps, but nothing for a manual. However, I searched on the web and found a very detailed 68 page Owners Manual (OM) and easily downloaded the PDF file. Note a PDF of the QSG was also easily downloadable. What was also impressive is that there were seven pairs of different sized tips included. There was another QR code which led to instructions for determining the best earbud size. I followed those and selected the XL size. I thought L would be the correct size, but after using the buds extensively, I agree that the XLs were optimal - not only for fit, but noise cancellation. Note that the medium size was originally installed. Page 38 of the OM describes this process well. The charging cradle, and its indications, does not stand out as exceptional, but it is fine and sensible in showing charge status. It does QI charging very well - a great feature. There was also a standard USB C charging cable included, but no AC adapter which has become standard unfortunately. Pairing: It was simple and easy. I paired with a phone, tablet and a couple of stand alone MP3 players that I use in the gym. All went very well. The 3 way multipoint does seem to work as advertised - although sometimes my MP3 players did not auto reconnect with the buds. But this may not be an indictment on the Technics as this is a common occurrence. It could just be the MP3 player. The Technics did connect with my phone every time. What I also liked was that the instructions described pairing with both phones/tablets and stand alone MP3 players. Nice touch. I also appreciate the voice though the buds saying when pairing is successful. In fact, the voice is very good - and better than previous buds I have owned - for instance - you know when you have togged ANC on and off. Great. Settings/Controls: There is a find earbuds feature. I set that pretty easily, but honestly have not used it yet. I trust it will work if I need it. As for the controls - I liked them. The default settings were ok, but I wanted to change the ANC toggle so I would not have to depress the right earbud for 2 seconds. Using the app, I reassigned this to a 1 tap on the left bud. It works great - this is fantastic for a setting where one wants to have a conversation immediately. However, there were some limitations. I wanted to reassign what happens when you hold down for 2 seconds to lower the volume and could not. I do not like to double or triple tap for volume - I'd rather touch/hold for that, but could not set it to that function (and it is more important to keep the single tap on the right but for play/pause). This is a small, but real, nit for me. I've had buds that do much worse tho, and these are as good as another pair I own. The only voice assistants supported appear to be Alexa. Since I use Google, and I do not prefer using voice assistant anyway I did not try that. I did set to "voice assistant on your smartphone" and briefly tried it, but it was not responsive. You probably will get better results if you spend some time with it. App: The app was well laid out and intuitive. There are lots of settings. Definitely better than some of the non-premium buds I own, but not sure if it excels over other premium buds. I was able to easily set my preferred equalizer custom settings. I also set ambient sound control and ANC levels. The manual page 43 wasn't totally clear on the latter, but I think I figured it out. There are also many other settings that you can customize. It is very thorough. There is a firmware update setting too. I tried that, but it stated my firmware is up to date. The latest firmware date is August 31, 2023, and I am a bit perplexed that there is nothing more recent. Performance: They shine. Simple as that. They sound terrific. Bass is full and balanced. They are dynamic. LDAC support is great (but no aptX). The midrange voice is very clear and crisp. Very enjoyable. Again, I custom set the equalizer and they are about as good as I have heard. ANC is good, but honestly, I was hoping for better. Noise cancellation in a gym environment is indeed excellent. However, noise from a mower engine and a hair dryer while blocked somewhat still came through more than expected given the price of these. It is on par with a pair of buds that I have that are about half the cost (although I specifically purchased those buds due to the great reviews they received for ANC). However, the sound, controls and features of these are much better. Technics quotes a 7 hour battery life with ANC. I can say I used these for almost that long and they still were holding a charge. I also appreciated the chime and voice feedback from the buds when something changes (like ANC, pairing, etc.) as not all buds do that. They also worked fine for the phone calls I made. SUMMARY: Basically see the "Performance" paragraph directly above. They sound great, fit well, are comfortable, have good battery life, and have very good controls. Build quality is definitely premium. They pair easily, have 3 way multipoint (only 2 with LDAC). They work well for me in the gym, although I am unsure if they would be great for running since they are a bit larger and heavier than my "go to" running buds. They do ANC well, but I was hoping for a bit more blocking of engine noise given their price. All in all however, a great, all around package here. They may not be cheap, but I do recommend them.

The Technics HiFi True Wireless Earbuds aren't the cheapest earbuds on the market, but they sure are worth the price. I am one who enjoys music. I listen almost everyday to a wide variety of genres. I have yet to find something that doesn't sound good with these earbuds! Impressive audio quality is paired with active noise cancellation to deliver the best listening experience. A lot of bluetooth earbuds can only be paired to one device at a time. The Technics earbuds can be linked up to three devices at one time! I love the way they look! The side of the earbuds reminds me of the way a vinyl record is textured. The matching color charging case is small and easily slides into your pocket. The USB C port on the back can be used to charge the case and earbuds, or you can place the earbuds back in the case and sit the case on a wireless Qi charger. It charges wirelessly! Thats a nice addition to this set of earbuds! Controlling, updating, or changing the settings on the earbuds can be done using the downloaded app on your smartphone. It can be customized to work with voice assistants as well! The earbuds are IPX4 water resistant, but the case is not water resistant. Multiple sets of earbud tips are included in the box to ensure maximum comfort and the perfect fit when you put them in your ears. Technics has a history of impressive quality and that is no different with these bluetooth earbuds! You'll enjoy these feature packed earbuds! Go ahead and invest in great audio quality!
