A good story line, plenty of action, and interesting plot twists make this a great addition to the Terminator series. Filling in a lot of gaps from the earlier films and giving the viewer a lot to add with his imagination are two of the strong points of the movie.

It's great to have both Arnold and Emliia Clarke on the Terminator saga. I wanted to know how they fit Emilia Clarke characters storyline, since I know she played her role very nicely in the hit HBO's tv show: Game of Thrones. As the new role as Sarah Connor, it's a interesting take as Arnold as the guardian for Sarah Connor for this storyline; glad to have Arnold back. I don't want to put too many spoilers for other readers, but you do get to see the future battles we all awaited for a long time. I'd wanted to own this copy after liking on how it played out at watching in theaters.
Overall, most people are familiar with T2's Sarah Connor, so it will be kind of hard to get used to see another person playing this role; not an easy to play. So relax and enjoy the movie, I recommend it on Blu-ray for excellent picture and D quality :)

I'm a big Terminator fan and was excited to see Schwarzenegger back in the lineup. Despite toning it down to PG-13, it was a pretty good movie. I liked the way they tied it to the originals without having to stick to their storylines absolutely.

I think that "Terminator: Genisys" was one of the greatest films in the entire "Terminator" film series and it was also one of my favorite "Terminator" films. This film had a lot of entertaining and enjoyable action, mystery and suspense including a really great and amazing cast, plot and storyline as well.

Summer of 2015 lead off with Avengers: Age of Ultron and didn't stop there, releasing some awesome films including Ant-Man, Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation, Inside Out and many others. Although these movies are awesome and I love the ones listed, there was one that I really enjoy but many people pegged as one of the worst of that summer and even of 2015. I didn't particularly like Jurassic World although it was one of the biggest films of all time, Minions was mindless (But became one of the highest grossing films as well) and truly the worst film was Fant4stic for that summer. Terminator: Genisys is one if the more misunderstood films from 2015 and of the Terminator films that is sadly ranked amongst the worst. Fortunately, it is a good movie that deserves a second chance. The movie follows Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) who is sent back to 1984 to stop the T-800 from killing Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), mother of John (Jason Clarke), the future leader of the Resistance. So it's pretty much the first film, at least at first, but while Reese is being sent through time, the personification of SkyNet (Matt Smith, of Dr. Who fame) kills John (or so we think). Meanwhile in 1984, things follow the same bits of The Terminator, but with the killing of John, the timeline changed, with Sarah and a Terminator called Pops (Arnold Schwarzenegger), this time prepared to kill the 1984 Terminator and find Reese. Following an attack by a T-1000 in 1984 (Byung-hun Lee) and learning of a new Skynet OS called "Genisys", the duo travel to the future to prevent Judgment Day and face a familiar face. I know the story is incredibly sophisticated and many people complained about the story being hard to follow, and it kind of is, truthfully. But, it is easier to follow as it comes along, but what's harder to swallow is some of the iffy casting. Schwarzenegger is back, and probably gives his best Terminator performance here, with the usual one-liners standing by, but it's also filled with the aging of the cyborg, that is having issues as time goes by, but also became more human in the process, as Cameron laid it out in His previous films that it has a learning computer to infiltrate more efficiently to humans. The trio of Reese, Sarah and John though, are miscast. All 3 are too focused on hiding their accents (Courtney is Aussie, the Clarkes English) to give engaging performances for the most part. Lee is a good T-1000, but the character didn't even need to be included, like at all. Other performances are decent overall, with J.K. Simmons being a standout as O'Brien. The screenplay is a tad overcomplicated, and it's uses of humor kind of fall flat, but still delivers a decent story overall. The direction by Alan Taylor does deliver the goods, with action scenes looking great, keeping the pace lively and manages to retain the visual sense Cameron laid out in his previous efforts. All in all, it is a fun movie with great effects and action scenes, but still can't beat the first 2 but handily defeats its 2 predecessors. On the Blu-ray we get a terrific 2.35 3D image, which has loads of depth to the film, along with some great use of pop-out moments. Probably one of the best conversions ever and a must own for 3D enthusiasts. The Dolby Atmos track is of reference quality and will unsettle your foundation, it's that good. The extras, though, disappoint. Although the film only broke even at the box office, I was still saddened at the lack of extras with the core 3D bluray. The film only has 3 featurette, all running about 55 minutes in length but there is still some good BTS stuff and nice looks into the many CGI effects, plot, characters and more. Sad we couldn't get a commentary, but it works for the most part but i suggest either grabbing the Best Buy exclusive or the 4K bluray, which both come with a bonus Bluray with over 90 minutes of material. All in all, a fun film that will satisfy the 3D and sound enthusiast but not many Terminator fans.

T:G is a hard movie to review. The acting is fine, the stunts are great, special effects good, and the story is decent. Of all these things, it's the story that breaks it more than anything. Not due to any inherent flaws, but mostly because of what isn't there.
T:G suffers from its lack of information- too many questions left unanswered. While I'd like to believe it's due to innocent reasons, it may be more due to filmmakers' greed. Much of this could have been alleviated by either allowing for a longer running time or simply having more focus. See, T:G attempts to rewrite the timeline of the movies, and in doing so, crams much of the rewriting of two excellent movies (ignoring T3 & T4) into one film. It gives us much of the highlights from these movies, but the eye for detail found in each film is bypassed in order to get to the next big set piece.
It's a shame they attempted to move so fast to (probably) get to Genisys 2 and their own story picking up after the rewrites to the mythos were done. Focusing on rewriting the original film only in this film, then rewriting T2 in Genisys 2 would have alleviated this rushed feeling, and allowed for their original take on what those changes meant for Genisys 3 might have been much better.
As is, we're left with a decent action film using the Terminator license with acting that's solid enough. I didn't necessarily agree with some of the casting choices (I'm looking at Kyle Reese & John Connor in particular) but, that doesn't mean they were bad in the roles- in fact, they surprised me at how well they portrayed the characters, despite my *PERSONAL* opinion that they didn't look or feel "right" to me.
Overall, T:G can be a fun ride, but those looking for it to fix the issues that began once James Cameron left the franchise (which was what Genisys attempted to do, even working with Cameron for time travel advice) are going to be disappointed. If you're a big Terminator fan, and have the 3rd & 4th installment in your library, there's no reason not to add T:G to the collection. It definitely surpasses most of T3, and all of T4, but if you're hoping to add this based on the premise of the film fixing things, you may want to just rent or watch it on cable. As an enjoyable action film with the Terminator license, it's a fun, stunt-filled ride that you could do much worse with.

I loved the first Terminator movies because I like the story, I am more about the story then I am if when and what and why. Yes as with any movie you can find flaws with this and that in the writing. But I am a fan of the series. I was disappointed in Terminator Salvation (2009) because it took away from the franchise and forgot it was a Terminator Movie. Genisys was pure Terminator adventure , that was what was important to me. I was sad to hear that Emila Clark would not be coming back in the next Terminator movie, cause she made a awesome Sarah Connor, if they bring back Sarah in the next movie, it's going to be hard to find a replacement like Clark.

Worth the watch, Arnold is great as always. Dont go in expecting it to be like T1 or T1. I enjoyed it far more than T3 for example. More or less it's own "stand alone" version.

The plot of Terminator Genisys basically revolves around John Connor (Jason Clarke) sending Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to save John's mother Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke, no relation in real life to Jason Clarke). Sounds pretty familiar to us Terminator fans, right? What Genisys does is builds on the plots in the previous films by keeping the main plot similar to the first movie, but having Kyle meet with an altered timeline in 1984. This Sarah is much different from the Sarah he was expecting (and much different from the Sarah we saw in the original film) in that she's already a bad-A and knows all about Kyle being sent back to save her and the Resistance and the war against the machines. In fact, she's been being trained by the reprogrammed T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) for many years prior to Kyle showing up.
You know in Back to the Future 2 when Marty goes back to 1955 Hill Valley for the almanac and you see the other Marty (from the first Back to the Future) trying to do his thing and get his parents back together? So you have a new movie but still get to see events from the first movie again, like the Enchantment Under the Sea dance scenes? Every time I watch BTTF2, getting to revisit and experience that scene from a different perspective than the first movie makes me so excited, and Terminator Genisys made me feel that same way at times. I've seen all of the Terminator movies multiple times, mostly because my husband is a huge fan of the franchise. They're all enjoyable to an extent (some more than others), but, to be honest, it's been a couple of years since I've watched the previous movies. Even without having seen the other movies in the series recently, I still enjoyed Genisys and have to say that I don't think it's necessary to have seen the previous films recently, or at all. That being said, I do think it could be beneficial and add to your experience to watch or rewatch them before seeing Genisys. The parts about this film that I thought were the most fun were when we got to revisit scenes or hear similar lines from the previous films. It brought the nostalgia factor way up for me, which I loved. There were some things I missed that I didn't realize were nods back to previous films in the series, until my husband leaned over and whispered to me about them, so it doesn't hurt to rewatch the series beforehand, or at least the first two. Again, not necessary, but could amp up your enjoyment.
Bottom line - I've always enjoyed science fiction and time travel movies, and this one was a winner in my book. I honestly thought this movie was great. It was action-packed but also pretty funny. It was nostalgic while still being inventive and feeling fresh. I ended up enjoying it way more than I expected and had a really fun time.

I liked the original in the series and really liked the second one "Judgement Day". The ones that followed were ok but did not really get me going in the same way. This new one is back to form, and not coincidentally it features the return of the man, aaah I mean, terminator Arnold! He plays his part perfectly, as do the other lead actors. Nice to see Emilia Clarke outside the her role on Game of Thrones. I saw the reviews that said there were gaps or flaws in the timeline-logic. Sorry dudes I fail to see that at all, and I am pretty detail orientated, to a fault if you ask my ex-wife...lol! Special effects is terrific and the story line leaves open the possibility of another. So, check it out!.

Different twist on a favorite action movie series

While the first two movies in this franchise are still the best, this movie is a 'mashup' of the previous movies but alters and weaves them into a new chapter in the series. The action is still there but there is also a new 'semi-comic' twist where things happen at different times, and different ways, than the originals. The story line is a bit weak in parts but the new timeline makes this movie fun and enjoyable.
