Excellent Album; Average Release for Megadeth

Th1rt3en is an excellently produced album, having crisp sound and extremely audible bass. However the musicianship does falter slightly. The album uses many riffs and styles that are reminiscent from there youthinasia age (granted some songs have been originally created during that time.) as well as some bringing out the style of their latest works. All & all this album is pretty solid standing for at least a couple repeat sessions. One thing to keep in mind is that this is more of a compilation of sorts. Many of the songs have been previously re-released or worked on. I love Megadeth which is why I give it 4 stars. However they will once again need to diversify their portfolio if they wish to continue garnering further successes.

Megadeth's storied discography continues with "13," an album featuring blistering guitar work and Dave Mustaine's incisive lyrics. "Public Enemy #1" and "Black Swan" are definitely highlights of this album, along with the introspective closing track "13."

While Endgame is a superior album in my opinion, this album is a real good effort from Megadeth and I recommend it to all Megadeth fans.

Great CD in the metal arena. Best Buy beat the price of online retailers without the need for price matching.

While not as great as Endgame, this is a good Megadeth album with some decent songs.

Just got it and loving it! Megadeth totally makes Metallica look like a bunch of washed up losers time and time again. The songs on the new cd Thirt3en rock and are very good.
There are only 3 albums I don't own by Megadeth Cryptic Writings, The World Needs a Hero and Risk. Risk being the worst of the 3 I threw it out the window on I70 when I first listened to it, it sucks. The other 2 The World Needs a Hero is almost there but missing that real metal/thrash of the real Megadeth and Cryptic is bland generic.
But the new album picks up where End Game left off and even better. In my opinion, Megadeth gets better in time. ok so 3 albums are not so great but for the most part Dave makes really good music. Also after the Metallica Black album I have not one of their albums in my collection cause there all weak. Megadeth has the strength and the talent to do at least 2 more albums if they wish to and still be relevant in today's era. My favorite Megadeth in the new Millennium is The System has Failed and Thirt3en is right up next to it. Its worth your $10 buy it now!
If you talk about Metallica I always bring up Megadeth for me its hard not to. I love Metallica everything before the Black album after that its like garbage in a toilet. But Megadeth only made a few wrong turns in it history and Megadeth is totally on target since its short time of trying to compete with radio friendly metal junk. Who cares if Mom and Dad don't buy your album its for the music lovers of METAL who you should think about.
Put it on and turn it up \m/

Hi, as one of my other favorite bands whom will be left anonymous in this review when I purchase a Megadeth CD I don't immediately ask what the heck is this what were they thinking. I am a fan boy of all of the big 4 so this review is from someone whom you probably can relate. This album is great. I have not one iota of regret buying it, and I don't even have to let it grow on me like some other bands recent efforts due. Sure Megadeth has change some, gone are some of the more evil messages that I sometimes miss, but the aggressiveness, articulation and technical guitar riffs still stand. I actually would personally like to think Dave for never letting fans down. Even the most experimental of their stuff is not a knee jerk response. Another great album thanks much guys for bringing another good CD to my collection. And yes I said CD people still do buy them the majority of people who I know download don't pay for it so if that is the wave of the future count me out, I don't mind paying for good music and I like to have something tangible for my money.

Megadeth never ceases to amaze me, and this album was no exception! "Th1rt3en" is the band's strongest album in a good while. I mean "Endgame" was awesome, but "Th1rt3en" is another notch higher. Every song, from start to finish, is blistering with great riffs and solos. It is also great to hear the thumping bass of David Ellefson once again, back in the group after a 10-year absence. From the reworked songs "Millennium of the Blind", "Black Swan", and "New World Order", to the complex Guitar Hero song "Sudden Death", this band is still firing on all cylinders after 30 years of playing music! This is a must-have for any metal fan out there!

I still think i prefer End Game but there are several solid Rust in Peace like songs (thrash) and Countdown to Extinction esque songs too.
Highlights: Sudden Death, Public enemy No.1 , Fast Lane, Never Dead.
I didnt really like that like 2 or 3 song were finished demos (black swan etc.) but thats just me.

Thirteen just goes to show you that Dave still has the metal gene and doesn't give in to the masses. The songs on this album range from hard core politics to cars to spurned love. But what Megadeth album doesn't have this?? The song Thirteen is amazing while public enemy no 1 takes you down a dark path. Musically, it's full of thick riffs, wicked solos, and crazy drumming. Even though Dave's voice isn't what it was, the songs relay the emotion you want from a metal album.

All I can say is maybe the best Megadeth ever. Great to have Ellefson back on bass. He was what was missing the last few cd's. At least that is what it sounds like to me! Can't wait to see them with Motorhead in the Twin Cities.

Megadeth has some dang good songs on here but they also have some songs that just are not that great but its Megadeth so the riffs are awesome and make up for the lyrics. Sudden death, Public Enemy no. 1, Whos life, Black Swan and 13 are killer songs.
