The Abandoned stars Jason Patric from The Lost Boys, Speed 2, Narc, & is lately making a comeback but in mostly B-rated, direct to DVD movies. The main actress is Louisa Krause as a woman who takes the job of a night guard in an abandoned apartment complex. She encounters a terrifyng presence within the lower area of the building. There are some chills, jump out scares, with good effects, music, and photography. The biggest issue with most horror movies nowadays is nobody knows how to write an original script, about something different. Everything has been done to death, and when that happens it means its time to change the game, which most people in hollywood don't seem to care anyone. When so many of there blockbusters start and keep failing, and the money runs out maybe the little guy who has been trying for 40 years to make a career will get a chance to make some different, unique, original and scare worthy...Time tells all..

I enjoyed the tenseness of this horror thriller. You are unsure if the spectres or "ghosts" are a product of the main female character's mind or they are real. Superb acting by the two main characters make this a decent movie. The only problem is that the ending is a puzzler and it can be interpreted in many different ways with no clear resolution to the story. Overall, most of the movie is a tense, scary ride.

I was surprised by this. Great little genre film, and a really interesting new take on the haunted house premise with some great thrills, twists and turns. I loved the eerie atmosphere all over this beautiful mansion, very well supported by music and sound design. Good cast and a compelling story. Wait for the end!

The Abandoned is effective at creating a creepy atmosphere and building the tension all of the way to the end. Although the ending is a bit predictable, the journey is still a fun ride.

If you've watched, and enjoyed Last Shift, you should love this. I enjoyed Last Shift, wouldn't say it was one of my favorites, but The Abandoned was much better!

Pretty good movie. The ending really makes it or breaks it for this one. Without spoiling anything I'll just say some will love it and some will hate it!

Whom ever came up with ending surely did not understand where The movie was trying to take us. One time watch The two main actors were great.

The Abandoned is pretty good horror movie with a good story

This had potential but in the end was a let down. Ok to rent thats about all.

The plot is somewhat slow and I would only watch this DVD once.

Decent setup. Creepy location. Good cast. Average story though. Could have been excellent.

At first I was lost and did not get it ,but when I watch it again I enjoy it and it to be deep and dark but good

I am a big horror fan and I have really enjoyed watching this movie. It is not yet another boring popcorn flick about ghosts, because its story is intriguing and the suspense kept me at the edge of my seat most of the time. The ambience in the movie is authentic, really creepy and it gave me some decent scares. Acting was good, but I must mention a great performance by Louisa Krause, who was relatively unknown to me. I highly recommend this film to the audience who knows to appreciate the horror and mystery genre.

Great seeing Jason Patric again! Not a huge budget but a really decent story & some genuine scares!
