Andrew Dice Clay! You either love him or you hate him! There is no middle ground... I am in the “Love Him” camp. So sue me! The Adventures of Ford Fairlane is one of a very few mainstream hits for 'The Diceman'. It always amuses and entertains and I've watched it at least once a year since it first came out in 1990. With that said, this review will be strictly about the video and audio quality of this release, rather than the film itself. So how does Ford Fairlane stack up on Blu ray? In a word, G R E A T !! The film comes on a BD-25 disc and as such the bit rate is on the middle end up things but not low enough to cause any unwanted compression artifacts. AVC 1080p encoded and presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio which is pretty much identical to the theatrical release. No java on this disc so disc resume works perfectly! IN fact , there is no disc menu and after the FBI warning the feature starts automatically. (make sure to stop the film at the end or pop it out or it will continue to play in a never ending loop) Overall PQ is a solid 3.75 out of 5 stars, sometimes even 4 depending on the scenes. The encode is solid, but the source is still problematic like the DVD. Think of this Blu Ray as the "DVD on Steroids". While certain nighttime scenes or scenes with smoke look a bit washed out, they looked the same way in the theater and on HBO all those years ago when the endless repeats were shown during the 90's. In other words, THIS is what Ford Fairlane looks like and is not any fault of the transfer or the disc encoding. Natural grain structure remains visibly intact but almost never intrusive. It looks like a FILM which is good, since it IS a film. Fine detail is quite good much of the time and the colors are natural and vivid with the original color timing apparently intact. It probably never looked better in the theater. Banding, aliasing, DNR,and Edge Enhancement are not an issue. A light layer of natural film grain is visible during smokey scenes or when diffused light was used by the director. No getting around it but it has always been this way. I refuse to rate this disc lower due to grain, since it is a natural by product of the film stock and lighting used. Fans of 'The Diceman' are gonna love how this looks!

For fans of Andrew "Dice" Clay, this was the movie that they couldn't wait for when it came out. When watching it now, sure its a bit dopey and some of the acting was a little iffy but if you were a Dice fan, the humor is what you was there to see anyway. Anyone familiar with the Diceman knows his humor wasn't for the faint of heart and should expect that same humor to be in this film as well. For those of us that liked Dice, this is a fun look back at his heyday and also features some great tunes from the time period.

Another film from my youth that I'll never let go. Loved it in 1990 and still love it today. Everyone should check it out. It was slammed on initial release but it's better than the reviews. My only complaint is that the special features from the DVD release a few years ago were not ported over.

This movie is one of those love-it-or-hate-it types of movies. If you're reading this, I'm guessing you love it. It's as good as you remember and looks great on Blu-ray. Audio is good, too. No special features, unfortunately. If you love Ford Fairlane, this should go in your collection. OH!

A cast as broad as Andrew Dice Clay, Priscella Presley, Gilbert Gottfried and--Wayne Newton??--star in this cult comedy that stills brings the laughs 20 years since it first arrived on the screen. It concerns a rockstar detective out to solve a bizarre murder.

I have owned this movie on VHS, DVD, and now Blu-Ray and it never fails to make make me laugh even after the 100th time watching it. Dice's other movies were not so great, but this was the perfect fit for him, and you gotta love Ed O'Neil's small but hilarious role. If you're a fan of Dice's stand up, you will love this movie, just don't watch it with your wife.

Funny from beginning to end. Dice man doesn't disappoint in a surprisingly clean movie. Lots of legends in it, lots of great one liners, and it's a fun ride. Didn't win any Academy Awards so if that's what you're into, this isn't for you. Cheap quick jokes combined with classic people from the 80's and 90's, this one has stood the test of time and grown.

Andrew Dice Clay is at his best in this flick as the "Rock and roll detective". With cameo's by Gilbert Gottfried, Robert Englund(Freddie Kruger), Ed O'Neill(Married with Children), Vince Neil (Motley Crue), Lauren Holly (Dumb and Dumber), Morris Day (The Time), Kari Wuhrer (MTV), Priscilla Presley and Wayne Newton.

Great comedy and Dice is at theyop of his game and delivers, audio and video quality makes it worth the upgrade from dvd but save your dvd for its special features as this disc does not come with any. If you are easily offended and cannot handle crude humor this film is not for you.

I haven't seen this movie in many years, so it was fun to pop it in on Blu Ray and see it in high definition for the first time. The movie is a so-so comedy detective flick with Andrew Dice Clay playing his typical comedy routine to the tune of a rock n roll detective. The video quality was good. Probably a 3.5 out of 5. And the audio was good. It was fun to see Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund in a different role here. Overall it's just a decent movie, but sometimes its fun to take a step back into the 90's and remember some of the pop culture of the time.

This movie is a guilty pleasure. Dice Clay holds the movie together well with his witty and raunchy comedy. Just something about it that makes me watch it now and then especially with a friend.

I've always enjoyed this film, it is light enough to have a great time with it and serious enough to take it in without feeling like you had to force it. You won't regret it.
