Those not familiar with the director's previous work should proceed with caution. This is not an action film, it is an arthouse film. Another great film from Hou Hsiao-Hsien.

Different than most martial arts type movies. Interesting story beautifully & artfully photographed. Not really familiar with the actors/director but still worth seeing.

The 1 star is truely earned for nice and colorful movie settings, but it is hard to follow because movie moves too slow and does not capture any attention. Not much talking at all. There are a few scenes that do not contribute to the storyline. If you are looking for a good action/fighting movie, this is not it.
