Combined with a perfect balance of comedy and drama, a soundtrack featuring soul, R&B, and pop-rock music from the 1960s and 1970s, and ensemble cast, the plot focuses around a group of baby boomers (whom were all classmates of University of Michigan) that reunite for a weekend at a Beaufort, South Carolina vacation home following the suicide of their old friend. Highly Recommended

I've had the soundtrack to this film forever and love it. I had a gift certificate and decided to buy this movie to see if it was as good as I remembered. It was better! The cast is phenomenal. It's a meaningful topic with great dialog; and it's always wonderful to hear that [mostly] Motown soundtrack! Well worth the purchase to enjoy it over and over.

So glad to see Criterion remaster this movie. The picture and sound are fantastic.... you'd never know this movie was over 30 years old. If you loved it originally you won't be disappointed, if you are younger and are not familiar with this movie, it's a great time piece depicting the baby boomers a few years out of college dealing with growing up and their conceptions and misconceptions of the world they live in. Great acting here. Highly recommended!

I purchased this movie so I could watch again. Saw this when it came out and wanted to have it in my collection to watch whenever I want to hear some great music!

I have wanted this movie for a long time. I couldn't be happier...

The first time I saw this I was a few years out of college and though a half generation younger than the actors in the film it already rang true -- ideals of youth will change as life progresses, but true friends share something special. Over the years the message inside this film has done nothing but grow stronger. One of the best collections of actors of this generation with a superbly written screenplay along with one of the greatest soundtracks ever put together. The Criterion Edition certainly does not disappoint.

I enjoyed watching this movie and thinking about life in general - how what we plan as teens and in our early twenties never really turns out like we plan. How life happens no matter what you do, or don't do!
